So far, Charlotte has completely lived up to the pressure of succeeding as Ric Flair’s daughter in the WWE. Nobody can ever match the career the Nature Boy performed, but Charlotte has been no slouch herself.
In just her third year on the main roster, Charlotte has already won six Women’s Championships, and took part in the very first female Hell in a Cell match, against Sasha Banks last year.
Despite having a ton of pressure on her shoulders being the daughter of the Nature Boy and all, Charlotte has risen to the ranks and is the face of women’s wrestling. Her father recently did an interview with the Daily Star, and believes she’s “already the greatest by far,” and that he “doesn’t know who to compare her to.”
But there’s one small change Flair would like to see, regarding his daughter’s wrestling persona:
“I wish they would use her on the other side. I like her when she’s bad. She’s really good at enhancing other people’s work,” says Flair. “As a heel, she’s really good at that, that’s art in itself.”
Charlotte began as a babyface but slowly turned heel when Ric started to cheat in her matches and helped her win. But on the May 23, 2016, episode of Monday Night Raw, Charlotte told her father to leave and she didn’t want him anymore, which made her build up the villainous character even more.
But over the summer, Charlotte turned face once again after joining forces with Becky Lynch and Naomi to face off against Natalya, Carmella, and Tamina at Backlash.
There’s no doubting that Charlotte can play both the face and heel characters extremely well, and we can probably expect constant shifting between both roles throughout her career.
But if her father has it his way, Charlotte will turn heel once again and begin the family tradition of being among the dirtiest players in the game.
