If you had to pick two of the best performers in the WWE right now, who would you pick? There are a number of people that would choose AJ Styles. Styles is widely considered one of the WWE’s most talented in-ring Superstars. Would your other selection have been Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Shinsuke Nakamura, Finn Balor, Dolph Ziggler, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns or someone else?

To really narrow it down to two wrestlers for most fans might be tricky. That said, one of the most glorified performers in the history of wrestling knew what his answer was. “I think the two best performers in the company right now are Randy Orton and AJ Styles – Seth Rollins being close right there”, said Ric Flair when asked by Starsport.

Randy Orton is a talented wrestler and perhaps, over the last decade, one of WWE’s most prominent stars. Would he be in most people’s top ten? Hard to say. In the context of the interview, that question might not matter when push comes to shove.

Flair named two performers he considered to be the best in the ring, but he made sure to point out, this didn’t mean he was calling either man “the guy” in WWE. Flair believes that spot goes to John Cena.

Flair said, “If you look at John Cena, you have to look at the whole scenario of John’s career. John is just an in-ring performer. He’s very good in interviews, number one. Number two, he exhausts himself giving his off time to stuff he doesn’t get paid for. Kids love him.” Flair believes that because Cena didn’t have a family or kids to tie him down, he was able to devote his off time to getting out there, promoting himself and doing things that made him the go-to person for the WWE.

It sounds like Flair believes Orton could have had that role but Flair explained, “Randy [Orton] doesn’t want that role. Randy is happy, he wants to be home with his wife and kids. Could Randy pull it off? Of course. But Randy isn’t interested in working in his days off. I don’t blame him, not everybody is.”

In addition, Ric Flair used the interview as an opportunity to pump the tires of his daughter Charlotte. Suggesting she’s much more like Cena than Orton, Charlotte is currently working an insane schedule because she’s giving her time to opportunities outside her regular WWE hours. She wants to be “the woman” for WWE and understands what it takes to achieve that.

At the end of the day, who are we to argue with “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair? One of the all-time greats, if anyone knows what makes you “the man”, it would be Flair.
