Bobby Roode underwent a minor gimmick change and now goes by the ring name of "Robert Roode," and he's received more television time and championship opportunities ever since the character switch.

Roode and Dolph Ziggler defeated Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman at last week's Clash of Champions event to become the new Raw Tag Team Champions. Roode will also take part in a Fatal 5-Way match to determine who will face The Architect for his Universal Championship next week.

Win or lose, it sounds like something big is in store for Roode. According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Ringside News), Raw Executive Director Paul Heyman is apparently high on the "Glorious" superstar.

"Paul Heyman likes Robert Roode, so there you go," Meltzer said.

Roode will go up against Ricochet, Rey Mysterio, Shinsuke Nakamura and AJ Styles in the Fatal 5-Way match to determine who will go up against Rollins. It's easy to believe that Styles will walk away victorious here, since he's a main eventer and former foe of Rollins - but we shouldn't be surprised if Roode walks away victorious here.

Aside from winning the Raw Tag Team Championships with Ziggler, Roode was also the second holder of the 24/7 Championship - winning it on the May 20 episode of Raw. However, R-Truth won the title moments later; the title switched hands three times that night.

Roode was one of the top main event stars in NXT, flourishing as a top-tier heel. But he's portrayed a babyface role since debuting on the main roster, working at the mid-card level. But with Heyman taking over the show now, big things appear to be in store for Roode.

Roode Is Ready For a Bigger Push

It's safe to say that fans were hoping for a big push shortly after Roode debuted on the main roster, but it hasn't happened yet. Heyman is reportedly keen on pushing Cedric Alexander, and now it sounds like Roode will be getting his chance. With elite in-ring skills and the ability to portray a main event heel character, Roode deserves the opportunity to face Rollins for the Universal Championship. We'll just have to wait and see if that time will come any time soon.
