It was rumored that Ring Of Honor's show at Madison Square Garden was off but that is most definitely not the case any longer.

Madison Square Garden has been the spiritual home of WWE for more than half a century. So much so that it's the only pro wrestling promotion that puts on shows there. As a matter of fact, WWE staged a historical show there just last weekend. One that featured The Undertaker teaming with Roman Reigns and also Ronda Rousey's first ever match at the iconic New York venue.

Earlier this year, however, there were rumblings that Ring Of Honor had penciled in an MSG date for 2019. Nothing was confirmed but as soon as the news broke, it was reported that WWE had sprung into action. Words were allegedly exchanged between the powers-that-be behind the scenes at WWE and MSG and all of a sudden, ROH's plans for an MSG show went out the window.

Well, it would seem that those rumors were unfounded. Either that or ROH went away and returned with a show that the bookers at MSG simply couldn't refuse. That show will be called G1 Supercard, and it will be taking place on April 6, 2019. ROH made the announcement earlier this week that they will be joining forces with New Japan Pro Wrestling and putting on a show in an arena that is very much WWE territory.

Running the show in what is basically WWE's house will not be the only thing about G1 Supercard that will annoy Vince McMahon. The date April 6, 2019, is a pretty significant one. It's the Saturday before WrestleMania 35 which is taking place in New York. That means the ROH/NJPW Super Show will be taking place on the very same night as NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn. Talk about competition.

For the majority of the wrestling world, this has to be seen as good news. Although WWE has been joining in on the togetherness being shown between wrestling promotions worldwide somewhat, it has also been doing quite the opposite in some instances. If Mr. McMahon did indeed have words with MSG about not letting other promotions perform there, that is pretty petty. Thankfully, those in charge at the arena saw the bigger picture and how massive an event G1 Supercard is likely going to be.
