WWE superstar Roman Reigns has been pushed heavily by the creative team, already defeating legends like The Undertaker, Triple H, and most recently John Cena, but could he face off against The Rock?
Reigns himself recently admitted that he's "ready" to face The Rock, according to Neil Docking from the Mirror: When asked about the possibility of facing his cousin, Reigns had the following to say:
"It won't go down anywhere other than a WWE ring, that's all I'm saying. If he wants to get it, then I'm not stepping back for anybody."
The Rock vs. Reigns would certainly be a can't-miss match between two of the top performers to ever step inside a ring. As everyone knows, Reigns has been pushed by Vince McMahon to be the next face of the company, but the fans often boo him despite his "face" portrayal.
After winning the 2015 Royal Rumble, The Rock came out to celebrate with Reigns, hoping to help him garner a strong ovation from the crowd. It didn't go well, and fans continue to boo Reigns even as he defeats some of the greatest superstars ever.
It would be interesting to see if a Reigns victory over The Rock would finally help him get universally accepted more by WWE fans. Retiring Undertaker at WrestleMania 33 didn't work, nor did defeating Triple H and ending The Authority at WrestleMania 32.
A Reigns vs. Rock match would surely be the latest attempt for the creative team to get Reigns over with the crowd. It could also open up the opportunity to turn Reigns heel if he were to defeat one of the most beloved stars ever.
There has been speculation that Reigns will end up facing Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 34, however. So WWE fans shouldn't hold their breath about these two cousins facing off anytime soon.
But we can all agree that it would be a match for the ages.
