Wrestling journalist, video host, and often WWE panelist Sam Roberts took an in-depth look at the Firefly Fun House Match from WrestleMania 36. Among the many insightful things he pointed out, one of his key takeaways is that John Cena might have used this match to retire from WWE in the most intriguing way.

In an attempt to break down every subtle clue, Easter egg and meaning behind the insanely unique match that took place just a couple of nights ago, Roberts spends over 40 minutes breaking down every segment that has fans still scratching their heads. Pointing out how the entire story tells the arc of Cena's debut in WWE, to his love of 80's wrestling as a child, the transition that saved his career and the eventual refusal to turn heel, Roberts points out that the entire match was meant to display that Cena was nothing more than the most over-hyped, over-promoted and over-privileged star in WWE history.

When he finally lost his match to The Fiend, it's because Wyatt had pointed out all of Cena's failures and in defeating him, was ridding WWE of that bully and Hogan-like WWE marketing creation that had sold his soul and torn people down as he won multiple championships and became a huge star.

Essentially, Roberts points out that this wasn't just a match. This was the ending of a failed story; one that saw Cena become a personal success but a crippled WWE character that could have been so much more. In winning the match, The Fiend didn't just gain a victory, he eliminated a cancer.

Once he did, The Fiend stood over his pinned opponent who then vanished leaving Wyatt all alone. Robert says, "The Fiend has destroyed John Cena, and John Cena ceases to exist." He then adds that this is a story that should translate into real life. He notes, "John Cena has disappeared, and I think it should be forever. I think that this should hold true."

The Ultimate Passing of the Torch?

There has long-been a rumor that John Cena is very much a fan of Bray Wyatt. Despite the match showing Cena halted Wyatt's push to the top at WrestleMania 30, he's a massive supporter. There's also a theory that Cena is essentially done in WWE, moving on to Hollywood full-time.

What if this was Cena's ultimate gift to Wyatt? His way of saying, 'Take me out and take the reigns. You have my full support and I'll show you by letting you script my exit from the company.' There would be no better and unexpected way to leave than to offer such a gesture and quietly say goodbye to the WWE Universe as you go.

We'll have to wait and see. For all we know, Cena will be on SmackDown for a send-off. But, what if he isn't? If Roberts is right, is this how you'd like to see Cena go?
