As a result of the flight issues keeping WWE and SmackDown stars in Saudi Arabia, rumors are the company is flying NXT stars in for the show.

There were already reports WWE was planning surprises for tonight’s show considering most of the roster outside of names like Daniel Bryan, Sami Zayn, The Miz, Aleister Black and many of the female talent would be on hand. In saying that, it was clear WWE needed more talent to fill a two-hour show.

One solution seems to be that NXT stars will be part of tonight’s episode.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer has been following the situation closely and outside of good news that the talent and production people in Riyadh will be flying home at around 8 p.m. ET., Meltzer adds that WWE is making alternate arrangements to ensure Friday's SmackDown isn't a throw-away show.

Meltzer notes that "a number" of NXT talent is being flown to Buffalo for SmackDown. He wasn't able to name that roster stars headed to New York and he couldn't confirm they'd actually be a part of the two-hour episode, but the assumption is that, they will somehow have to be.

Who appears, if anyone, on the show won't likely be announced in advance but stars like The Miz and Bayley have already commented on tonight's show. The Miz noted not to miss the show because this is where WWE is "at its best."

So, assuming WWE uses this unfortunate situation to debut stars like The Undisputed Era, Matt Riddle or have Finn Balor appear to talk about his actions this past week, fans may find themselves a bit more forgiving that WWE wasn’t able to showcase their biggest stars. After all, fans will be witnessing history if NXT is a big part of tonight’s show.

Update:

Hulk Hogan posted a video on Facebook showing he, Jimmy Hart and Ric Flair made it safely to Tampa. He noted the 747 carrying the rest of the roster had mechanical issues and that he and Flair might have to fly to Buffalo to take care of business. He said, "Hopefully the NXT guys tear it down."
