As news continues to roll in about the drama in Saudi Arabia, some speculation has to do with Brock Lesnar and original plans surrounding his segment to open Friday's show.

As most are now well aware, Lesnar was one of the few talents from WWE to make it back from Saudi Arabia to the United States in time to be part of Friday Night SmackDown in Buffalo, New York. On a show that was seemingly put together last minute and featured many NXT talents, Lesnar opened the show and announced he was quitting SmackDown and heading to Raw where he would hunt down Rey Mysterio.

While a cool opening segment that gave fans lots to talk about, one of the things that confused many was how Lesnar could simply 'quit'. After all, he was a drafted talent who is under contract and logically, you can't just "go to another show."

Heyman tried to write it off as Lesnar doing whatever Lesnar wants and that if WWE tried to sue over his leaving, Heyman would counter-sue right back but there is more rumored to be coming to this storyline and reports are surfacing that this is not how it was originally supposed to go down.

Making the story even more interesting, on Sunday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said that Brock Lesnar was not originally scheduled for SmackDown and the announcement he was supposed to be headed to Raw was meant for the premiere episode of WWE Backstage with Renee Young on FS1. She had promoted a "really big deal" as part of that first episode and Lesnar was supposed to be it. Once Friday's SmackDown unfolded as it did, her announcement never came.

So What Now For Lesnar?

On Busted Open Radio's recent podcast, Mark Henry speculates that WWE may write a storyline where WWE comes after Lesnar legally for just bailing on SmackDown. Noting this would essentially be the same as Lesnar moving from WWE to AEW, there are untapped possibilities for where this could all go and WWE might try to take advantage of that.

Obviously, there is unfinished business between Mysterio, Cain Velasquez and Lesnar, which will all be addressed as well, but WWE may try to play up this Lesnar breaking contract angle.
