Famous boxer Tyson Fury got involved the action on Friday Night SmackDown, likely setting the stage for a future match.

WWE showed that Fury was in the crowd early on for the debut episode of Friday Night SmackDown on Fox. Most other visiting celebrities like Marshmello were already involved in the show's proceedings the DJ won and lost the 24/7 Title), so it wouldn’t come as a shock if Fury got involved as well. Who he got involved with was a bit of a surprise.

During an 8-man tag match, Braun Strowman was on the outside of the ring having a bit of fun at the expense of Fury, teasing him by saying “You don’t want these hands.” while jokingly squaring up. But, when Dolph Ziggler tried to take advantage of a distracted Strowman, Fury took the unfortunate bump. He waited until Strowman won the match but then tried to kill the guardrail before being stopped by approximately one dozen security guards. All the while, Strowman just laughed.

Is This The Start Of A Match

Its been clear from day one that Fox has wanted a more sports-centric feel to the show once WWE joins their network. What better way than having a professional boxer get involved? And, should this be where the company is going, it makes some sense.

WWE has a few big shows coming up including the Saudi Arabia Crown Jewel show in October 31st, as well as a pay-per-view in Hell in a Cell that only has three official matches. Could these be other opportunities to build toward a program at a show like WrestleMania?

This will be a situation worth keeping an eye on and might suggest, if there’s a future here, Strowman might make a move to Fox on a more permanent basis.
