If reports are true that one particular WWE Superstar worked an out clause into his contract when he signed it in 2018, might he jump ship with Vince and company having little say over the matter?

Buzz is that Rey Mysterio signed a two-year deal in September 2018, but as part of that deal, he has an out-clause that allows him leave at the eighteen month mark. Should he decides to exercise that out-clause, he could be out of WWE just before WrestleMania 36.

Considering there are also rumors WWE could hold him to some more time on that deal due to injuries that kept him away, we also don't know for certain that Mysterio is interested in leaving. He was recently instrumental in helping WWE land Cain Velasquez and Mysterio is working hard to help guide his son's future in WWE and is advertised for pre-sale WrestleMania 36 appearances.

What we do know is that AEW would have an interest in Mysterio should he decide to end his time in WWE. Rey worked the All In pay per view before AEW was an official wrestling brand, and he did so despite WWE's request to avoid that show.

Does It Really Matter?

Whether Rey stays with WWE or AEW, it's worth asking how much it really matters? Mysterio has been forthcoming on the fact he doesn't have a lot of time left in the ring and WWE certainly hasn't used him much beyond his big match this coming Sunday at Survivor Series.

What might matter is the perception a WWE Superstar and future Hall of Famer left WWE early and went to AEW. Everyone knows WWE is trying to avoid that kind of thing from happening.
