It would be nice to believe WWE has finally settled into their rosters on each respective brand, but speculation is that's far from the case.
WWE promoted a Draft that would finally put certain Superstars on certain brands and not move them. Roman Reigns, Bray Wyatt, Brock Lesnar, Braun Strowman and Daniel Bryan wound up on Friday nights while Becky Lynch, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, Drew McIntyre, Ricochet and others wound up on Raw. It didn't take long for things to change.
While most of the names above are still on their drafted brands, Lesnar just strolled on over to Raw one night and never came back to SmackDown. The Fiend won the Universal Title and brought it to the blue brand, changing the color of the belt at the same time. And, thanks to a Saudi show that caused some delays, NXT infiltrated the Raw and SmackDown shows leading all the way up to Survivor Series. You have to know, at some point, some NXT guys will show up.
In essence, this is a perfect time to make some other subtle changes and not have many fans up in arms. There are rumors that might happen.
On Friday's SmackDown, fans witnessed the return of Alexa Bliss, Elias and Sheamus. On Monday's Raw, Matt Hardy returned. Coincidence? Maybe. At the same time, as Anthony Mango of Bleacher Report points out, there isn't a need for 205 Live now that the Cruiserweight Championship has been enveloped by NXT and it's already clear some of the drafted talents aren't succeeding since the draft.
How Would WWE Pull This Off?
Knowing WWE can do whatever they want with little repercussion, they should, at least, try to explain any possible moves, especially since they promised they'd stop altering with the rosters. How should they do that?
Trades are the answer. How easy would it be to trade Cesaro from SmackDown to NXT UK for Pete Dunne? How quickly could Baszler move to Raw in exchange for Naomi and the Usos? What about moving EC3 to SmackDown for future considerations? That's believable considering how he's not shown up once since the draft. Insert your potential trade idea here...
In fact, it would be fun to watch WWE finally make the trades fans were hoping to see but haven't yet because chaos on all three brands have ruled the day.
