With the way the UFC fight between Conor McGregor and Cowboy Cerrone went down on Saturday, rumors are swirling WWE will want to talk to man who made headlines.

There were a few concerns McGregor might have been away from the MMA game for too long and that stepping into the octagon at 170 lbs might mean he wasn't as much the favorite as he typically would have been. But, in 40 seconds, McGregor defeated Cerrone by TKO and made an emphatic statement to the fight world, along with everyone else. He was back and in a big way!

“I’m so happy. UFC can strip fighters and give fighters make believe belts but they can take away knockout finishes," McGregor said after the fight. He bragged that no one else could go up and down in weight divisions like he did and get knockouts that everyone will remember. "Etch my name in history tonight!"

Does that mean McGregor is satisfied? Does it mean he'll want to try something else? Or, is this just the beginning of a big comeback? One thing is for certain, WWE will likely be interested.

Popular rumors scribe WrestleVotes said, "Forget Cain & Fury, I think everyone wouldn’t mind seeing McGregor at Mania. What a performance tonight.". This, of course, does not suggest WWE is making that call right now. But, as has already been reported, they're holding off on a Tyson Fury return because they want to ensure he wins his fight before calling again. WWE wants winners.

And, WWE has always had an eye on McGregor. He won't be fighting MMA in the near future because he just fought and WrestleMania is right around the corner. All the pieces align, assuming McGregor would be into it.

McGregor Opened Up A World Of Options

With this win, McGregor just made the sports entertainment and fight world his oyster. He said in a previous interview he'd love a rematch against Floyd Mayweather so we know he's already thinking about life outside UFC. Now, he can pretty much call his shot.

He can probably also name his price with WWE, who would likely pay it for an appearance. Considering the fight ended so fast, it almost looked fixed, and McGregor commented on the strut. He seems ready for WWE anyways, no?
