Both Triple H and Stephanie McMahon have been attempting to market the women’s evolution as the top attraction in WWE over the past year. The success of Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch proved the fans wanted to see the ladies thrive on the main roster. New stars were born since then with Nia Jax, Alexa Bliss and Asuka becoming stars for the company.

16 Please be true: Lana managing Rusev again

The momentum of Rusev has seen him receive a spot in the Money in the Bank ladder match. Rusev gets loud ovations most weeks with fans loving the “Rusev Day” fever. WWE seems hesitant to go all the way with Rusev in fear this is just a fad like many other short-lived fan movements that ended in disappointment. One positive for Rusev is seeing his wife Lana involved in his segments again.

A recent backstage interaction saw Lana try to talk Rusev into getting rid of his sidekick Aiden English.

While this would be hurtful to Rusev Day fans, Lana and Rusev is a proven great duo. Rusev had an undefeated streak as one of the top heels with Lana by his side. Both personalities perfectly mesh well together as they use their real chemistry as a married couple to add to the act.

Another reason to root for this is the fact that it will likely remove Lana from the women’s division. Lana has struggled to get to the level needed from the in-ring competitors. WWE wanted to push her, but the lack of in-ring skills held her back. Lana going back to being the full-time manager of Rusev will help his push and keep her away from hurting the SmackDown women’s division.

15 Not true: Vince already regretting Carmella title win

Carmella shocked the world when cashing in the Money in the Bank title shot to successfully defeat Charlotte Flair. The belief was that she would lose given the importance of the Flair vs. Asuka match at WrestleMania 34. Carmella is not over on the level of the other two and most speculated she would lose her title shot and remain in her secondary position in the SmackDown pecking order.

However, the win cemented her as a champion. Carmella has held gold for a little over a month now, but it has not gone as well as most would hope. The segments and matches of Carmella have failed to impress. Carmella’s successful title defense over Charlotte was viewed as a huge disappointment as arguably the worst match on the Backlash card.

Rumors indicate that Vince McMahon is starting to lose confidence in Carmella being one of the champions in the women’s division.

If she doesn’t start to impress soon, chances are that she will drop the title sooner than later. Many fans of Carmella have waited almost an entire year for this moment. The hope is that she will prove she is capable of being a champion to have a respectable reign. If she loses it at the next PPV, Carmella may never be champion again.

14 Please be true: Mickie James and Natalya coaching Ronda Rousey

Ronda Rousey was the biggest WWE signing made by Stephanie McMahon and Triple H. Unless something drastically changes, Rousey will be pushed to the moon over the next few years and possibly longer. The performance at WrestleMania 34 proving she could thrive in the WWE world gave fans hope of her being an entertaining fixture moving forward.

One rumor that should add more optimism to fans’ outlook of Rousey is the belief that she is being coached by Natalya and Mickie James.

These two ladies are the most respected veterans on the roster when it comes to knowing the in-ring aspect of the game. Natalya and Mickie each survived the lesser eras of women’s wrestling in WWE before the evolution allowed them to compete in a credible time.

Rousey already has the luster needed to be a big attraction in WWE. The only thing she needs to perfect is the art of performing in the ring. Learning from two of the best will certainly help her cause. Rousey is expected to work singles matches with the two throughout the summer. It is very likely that she becomes a great performer due to her instincts, athletic ability and the coaching from two legends of the ring.

13 Not true: The IIconics are meant to be secondary characters

The NXT success of Peyton Royce and Billie Kay as the Iconic Duo made them an act fans wanted to see on the main roster. Both ladies have everything needed to succeed on the main roster with their stunning looks, charisma and the ability to have good matches. Fans were treated to their presence on SmackDown when they received the call-up under the new name of the IIconics the week of WrestleMania 34.

Royce and Kay attacked Charlotte Flair on their first night on the main roster before Carmella cashed in to become SmackDown Women’s Champion. It looked like the IIconics would be pushed in a major way, but they are already looking like another couple of ladies in the background of the division. Kay and Royce have lost half of their matches and Charlotte already got her revenge on them.

There is a rumor that WWE views them as secondary characters for the most part.

This would mean neither woman will be a fixture in the title picture any time soon. SmackDown having four credible faces in Charlotte, Naomi, Becky Lynch and Asuka means the IIconics will be taking a lot of losses going forward. If WWE truly does view them as secondary characters, Kay and Royce would be in a bad place by the end of the summer.

WWE has been trying to sign all the top names on the free agent market over the past few years. AJ Styles, Kevin Owens and Shinsuke Nakamura are some of the names that proved they hit huge home runs on the male roster. The women’s roster is starting to see the same success. Candice LeRae, Kairi Sane and Shayna Baszler were a few huge names signed by Triple H within the past year.

Another talented lady rumored to be heading to WWE soon is independent wrestler Toni Storm. The international work of Storm has seen her have great performances in Progress Wrestling, Stardom and many other promotions all over the world. WWE fans saw her shine in the Mae Young Classic as one of the standout performers.

Storm has a great chance to be a huge star for NXT and the main roster. The outstanding in-ring work, impressive character work and star presence all provide the things WWE wants in a performer, especially for the women’s division. Storm is a game changer that will help WWE a lot, regardless of where they place her if signed. The fans will be the biggest winner if rumors are true about WWE preparing to sign her to a full-time contract.

11 Not true: Kevin Dunn sabotaged Becky Lynch's career

One of the saddest falls in the women’s division has seen Becky Lynch drop from the first SmackDown Women’s Champion into an afterthought. WWE introduced Lynch with Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks as the three women starting the women’s revolution when joining the main roster. A brand split led to Lynch becoming the face of the SmackDown women’s division when the other two were drafted to Raw.

Becky stepped up as an impressive first SmackDown Women’s Champion to establish the new title. SmackDown outperformed Raw most weeks when it came to the women’s division thanks in part to Lynch being great. However, her time at the top ended when Alexa Bliss dethroned her for the title. Becky has been trending downwards ever since and recently suffered a new low moment when losing to Mandy Rose.

It has been reported that Kevin Dunn is a huge critic of Lynch and he used to mock her accent during her matches.

Dunn being Vince McMahon’s right-hand man means his opinion can hurt a wrestler’s career. Given the timing of the report, it appears Dunn played a huge role in Becky becoming a secondary woman in the division. Things look bleak for fans of Lynch hoping she gets another chance as a champion.

10 Please be true: Women's tag titles coming soon

The biggest problem for the women’s division is finding enough roles for all the talented ladies to have something going on. Unfortunately, the merging of Raw and SmackDown sharing PPVs means that we likely will only see two women’s matches on most shows in the current climate. The Raw and SmackDown Women’s Championship belts are the only representation for the women on the main card unless something changes.

There have been rumblings about another way to get the ladies more opportunities on the show and more important on their weekly television storylines.

WWE is reportedly toying around with the idea of creating Women’s Tag Team Championship belts. It would be a title used on both brands as it would allow teams from both shows to face off on PPVs.

While it does seem like a risk merging the brands for the title, WWE has shown little respect for the brands remaining separate with projects like Mixed Match Challenge.

Quite a few combinations already appear on the roster as impressive tag team possibilities. The IIconics are a great duo, Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch are already an occasional tag team, The Bella Twins could return, Sasha Banks and Bayley could try to make peace along with many other options out there. It would finally give something for ladies on Raw and SmackDown to do outside of the world title picture.

9 Not true: Ronda Rousey winning Raw Women's Championship at MITB

WWE dropped a bombshell when announcing that Ronda Rousey was going to get a shot at the Raw Women’s Championship in her second televised match. A bizarre moment filmed at the NBC upfront event featured Nia Jax approaching Rousey during an interview. Jax challenged Rousey to a match at Money in the Bank which led to a lot of confusion.

After saying she didn’t deserve the title shot, Rousey was talked into saying yes and the match was made. WWE is clearly going all in on trying to make Rousey a title contender within her first few months on the roster.

There is a belief online that Rousey will win the Raw Women’s Championship right away to set up a dominant reign heading into WrestleMania 35.

Past reports indicated that Jax won the title to become the person that eventually dropped it to Rousey. It would be a huge mistake to have Rousey win the belt in her second match. She won over the fans at WrestleMania 34 with an incredible performance for a rookie. This changed the narrative of many fans wanting to root against her. However, winning the title with just one match under her belt would see crowds starting to boo Rousey much like when Roman Reigns started running through the male roster as the golden boy.

8 Please be true: Ruby Riott getting PPV title shot soon

The move from SmackDown to Raw has given Ruby Riott a great opportunity. As of now, the face side of the Raw brand features Ronda Rousey, Nia Jax, Sasha Banks and Bayley as popular stars. The heel portion has much less depth with Alexa Bliss being the only established big name. Ruby leading the Riott Squad means they will have a chance to make a huge impact taking on the popular faces.

WWE is reportedly buying into Riott as a top heel given the success of the Riott Squad. Both the Riott Squad and Absolution debuted at the same time. While Paige’s injury hurt the latter, Riott Squad was significant more successful even before it came into play. There are rumored to be plans for Ruby to receive a big push going forward.

If Nia retains the Raw Women’s Championship against Rousey, Riott is clearly the next challenger in line. An argument can be made that having her become champion would be the best option available in the near future. Ruby’s unique style and overall talent has made her a credible performer on the main roster. A chance as champion coming her way is very easy to believe and we would all benefit from it.

7 Not true: Alexa Bliss receiving heat due to recent time off

Alexa Bliss has been arguably the most successful woman on the main roster since the brand split. No one expected Bliss to become a huge star like Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks due to the lack of a push in NXT. Most remember her as the manager of Blake and Murphy back then, as she didn’t have any matches on the TakeOver specials.

Bliss however stepped up when selected in the brand split draft. She is one of the few women to hold both the Raw Women’s Championship and the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Not only is Alexa a decorated champion, but she has been a champion for most of her run on the main roster. However, there is reported to be heat on her in recent weeks.

Bliss missed a few shows during Raw’s tour of South Africa due to her cosmetic surgery of breast enhancement. Some of the other ladies were said to be unhappy about this Alexa already had the prior week off due to the Saudi Arabia show keeping the women home. WWE superstars have been punished for things like this in the past. Bliss is such a good heel that it would be a disappointment to see her career trend downwards due to something so silly.

6 Please be true: Bella Twins returning to feud with The IIconics

Nikki and Brie Bella are clearly two of the biggest female stars in WWE history. The Bella Twins have a huge fan base in both the WWE world and the reality television world thanks to Total Bellas and Total Divas. Both ladies returned to the company in the first women’s Royal Rumble match earlier this year and were in the final three before falling to Asuka.

Many fans have speculated on when the Bella Twins will return to WWE again in a bigger role. Nikki and Brie recently appeared at the NBC Upfront representing WWE. Both ladies still have great relationships with WWE and are expected to be back at some point later this year. There have been rumors of the Bella Twins coming back as a duo to combat the heel team of the IIconics.

If the aforementioned rumor of the potential Women’s Tag Team Championship is true, Nikki and Bella being part of the picture would be a safe bet. The chances of a feud with the IIconics would be perfect for both duos. Their promos would be highly entertaining as both sides can clearly play off each other. Both Nikki and Brie regretted not being able to team more before Brie left the company to start her family.

5 Not true: Mandy Rose Winning Women's Title in 2018

Mandy Rose has the look that WWE used to want from all the women joining the company. The background of being a fitness model and the stunning looks have made her a valuable commodity in WWE. Management was impressed with Rose enough to give her a developmental contract after finishing second in the Tough Enough contest. Triple H reportedly kept her out of important NXT storylines knowing she’d be main roster bound when she had enough live event experience.

Rose was picked to be part of Absolution as the most important member. Despite Paige being the leader, it was meant to set up Rose eventually becoming a major singles star. Things were kick-started when Paige’s neck injury forced her to retire from in-ring competition and become the new General Manager of SmackDown.

We are already seeing the start of a push for Mandy on the SmackDown brand. Rose received a very elaborate entrance that usually only goes to wrestlers with major plans. WWE even had her defeat former SD Women’s Champion Becky Lynch in a huge upset. There is speculation that Mandy will be one of the top stars in the SmackDown women’s division with a title reign by the end of the year. Given the amount of talent on the show, Rose getting pushed above them would be a negative for the overall division.

4 Please be true: Sasha Banks becoming top heel on Raw

Sasha Banks was by far the most impressive woman in NXT during her time there. The heel character of Banks worked to perfection in having classic matches against Bayley, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair. WWE used Banks as a face for most of her main roster run so far due to the fans supporting her. The love of Sasha’s NXT work made WWE force her to change the character.

We have yet to truly see “The Boss” on Raw. This is a major reason why Banks has fallen behind in the pecking order primarily in secondary feuds. There have been some rumors out there to provide hope for fans wanting to see her character return to the big stage. Banks has been involved in a feud with Bayley, but neither character has changed in the process.

If the end game is Sasha becoming a ruthless villain, it will truly improve the Raw women’s division. Alexa Bliss has been the only relevant female heel on the brand for quite some time, and she has feuded with everyone. Banks going back to the old character would make her the top heel in the Raw women’s division and likely should give her another title reign, maybe one where she will successfully defend it this time around.

3 Not true: Carmella dating John Cena

The hottest rumor to hit WWE recently featured a potential love triangle. John Cena and Nikki Bella breaking up has been confirmed by many outlets, including private statements released by both wrestlers. However, a bigger dynamic came into play when the latest rumor indicated Cena may have already moved on to another women’s wrestler.

It was reported that Cena started a romance with Carmella just weeks after the break-up with Nikki.

The report originally implied that Cena was hooking up with another cast member of Total Divas. Carmella would become the person reported as being intimate with Cena as she also recently became single after ending things with Big Cass. Cena and Carmella being an item was a red hot rumor that started to slow down after Cena said he still hopes to end up with Nikki on a recent talk show appearance.

Most fans are hoping this rumor isn’t true as it would make Cena and Carmella both look terrible. If they are together, this likely started before Nikki and Cena broke up as Cena hasn’t been on any of the same shows as Carmella recently to develop new feelings. Two of WWE’s biggest stars looking like terrible people while another WWE star is heartbroken is not the kind of story the company wants floating out there.

2 Please be true: Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair early plans for WrestleMania 35 main event

This rumor can certainly be taken many ways, but there is a lot to be excited about. Many believe WWE plans to make history by having Charlotte Flair face Ronda Rousey in the main event of WrestleMania 35. It would be the first ever women’s match to headline WrestleMania as the ultimate honor. Flair ending Asuka’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania 34 was reported to add more luster to her legacy in hopes of building towards the big match.

Rousey certainly has the star power after her MMA career made her a household name. Between the incredible debut match at WrestleMania 34 and the passion she has for wrestling, it is very believable that WWE wants Ronda to be part of such a historic match. This is considered the biggest possible women’s match in WWE and why they would save it for such an important time.

It would be a great accomplishment to see the ladies finally main event WrestleMania. Flair and Rousey are two wrestlers more than capable enough to sell the show given the amount of success they’ve accomplished in their careers. If done right, this could be a great thing for the wrestling business. Besides, it can’t be worse than Roman Reigns main eventing again after having stinkers the past three WrestleMania shows.

1 Not true: Vince gave up on Asuka

The fallout from WrestleMania 34 not only saw Charlotte Flair get a major win, but Asuka suffered the biggest and the only loss of her WWE career. Following a dominant NXT run for almost two years and many months of wins on the main roster, Asuka scored a massive honor by winning the first-ever women’s Royal Rumble match. One loss to Charlotte shouldn’t hurt her in the grand scheme of things, but there may be other variables in play.

Vince McMahon reportedly doesn’t like to push wrestlers that don’t speak English fluently which made it surprising when both Asuka and Shinsuke Nakamura won their Royal Rumble matches. However, both wrestlers losing their title shots at WrestleMania proved McMahon didn’t want to go all the way with them.

There has been speculation that McMahon doesn’t believe Asuka can be a top name in the women’s division moving forward.

Asuka has certainly been booked with less importance than before WrestleMania. Despite not getting pinned, her team took the loss in a tag match on SmackDown and she has not had much of a storyline since switching brands. Given the high level of talent from Asuka, it would be a terrible blow for fans if McMahon truly gave up on Asuka already.
