After being replaced by Chris Jericho in the Casket Match at WWE's Greatest Royal Rumble, Rusev has dropped any mention of WWE from his Twitter profile. The Bulgarian wrestler that everyone loves to hate was set to take on The Undertaker on April 27 in Saudi Arabia, but after his wife Lana tweeted that they opposed the match, Rusev was released from the match.

Yesterday, Lana posted, “All over the world, little boys and girls are celebrating #RusevDay, they smile for the greatest Superstar ever ! I’ve already spoke with @WWE officials to change that match because I REFUSE to let my husband @RusevBUL compete in a Casket Match at #WWEGRR! Happy #RusevDay.”

After the match between Rusev and The Undertaker was announced, the Bulgarian Brute tweeted, “Bury me softly, Brother,” which some suspect may have influenced the WWE’s decision to swap Rusev for Jericho. Things got heated after Rusev and Lana spoke to TMZ, bragging that Rusev would crush The Undertaker. Michelle McCool, the retired WWE wrestler and The Undertaker’s wife, responded to the interview by tweeting, “Had to listen to see if “crush his old a$$” was ACTUALLY said! Guess some people are smarter than others..."

Some speculate that Rusev may be moving on from the WWE, yet others suspect that the Bulgarian is just firing up fans on Twitter. His supporters, however, took the news to heart, tweeting, “I think Rusev quit WWE,” “Rusev please don’t quit,” and, “I hope he goes out and makes WWE pine for him.”

The WWE has played coy throughout this episode, only releasing a statement after Rusev was dropped from the Casket Match lineup. “In a stunning turn of events, The Undertaker will battle Chris Jericho in a Casket Match at the Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia on Friday, April 27. Originally, the Casket Match was to be between The Deadman and Rusev.”

Rusev has received an invitation from Stu Bennett, formerly WWE superstar Wade Barrett, to join Defiant, the UK wrestling company based in Newcastle. Journalist Dave Meltzer has tried to quell rumor of Rusev’s departure from the WWE by tweeting “no” after being asked “has Rusev been released?” Rusev himself responded to the speculation by crytically tweeting, “Life is life…it will be #RusevDay somewhere.”
