A week ago, we were speculating on Samoa Joe's future based on rumors of Triple H's interest in him for NXT and a tweet from Paul Heyman. You can see that post here.
However, we now know exactly what lies ahead for Samoa Joe. He'll be returning to ROH where he spent five years of his career. He's a considered a legend in their promotion and this video really drives that point home.
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't conflicted on the issue. On one hand, it would've been cool to see him in the WWE, but on the other hand, I'm sure they would've misused him and he would've gone to waste. It'll be awesome to see Samoa Joe back in the main event picture for ROH and I'm crossing my fingers that he'll be put into a storyline with Alberto El Patron (formerly Alberto Del Rio), as he was an under-utilized talent while with the WWE.
What is unclear is whether or not this is a long-term agreement. The video flashes four dates just before ending. Are those just his first four matches back with the promotion or is it a short-term contract? That remains unknown. At the moment, there are still rumors that he'll sign with WWE and join NXT after this short commitment with ROH.
Samoa Joe then chimed in on Twitter to tell us that it's gonna be a big year for him, which might mean that he may be fighting for a variety of promotions. That's pure speculation, based solely on the phrasing of his tweet. He would then receive a strange reply from CM Punk and I'd be lying if I told you I knew what Punk meant...
@SamoaJoe I owe you one, PAL.
