Scott Steiner claims WWE only asked him to take a drug test once. His response to that request is apparently the reason they never asked again.

Drug testing and drug use never tend to be far away from the headlines in WWE. More so a few decades ago than it is in the present day. It was inescapable during the early 90s when Vince McMahon was on trial during the company's steroid scandal. That being said, two WWE Superstars were suspended this week for violations of the company's wellness policy.

The exact reason for the suspensions might never be revealed. However, there's a very strong chance that whatever it is, it wouldn't have been a problem during wrestling's past. The way in which drugs and steroids have been viewed in wrestling has changed and evolved as years have passed, as has WWE's testing process and the punishments that come along with it.

To this day, how exactly WWE enforces its wellness policy is somewhat shrouded in mystery. Are all Superstars tested periodically? Or is it a case of people being selected at random when they least expect it? According to Scott Steiner, when he was with WWE during the early 2000s, he was only asked to take a drug test once and his witty response to the request resulted in the test not taking place.

"I told [WWE] to have Triple H pick me up in a limo, then we could go test together," Steiner claims, per Pro Wrestling Stories. The former WCW Champion also claims to have never failed a drug test in his life, and that after he made the quip about testing alongside Triple H, WWE never asked him to take a drug test again.

That run in WWE lasted less than two years for Steiner. However, if his account is true, it's worrying to think the company would only test a Superstar for drug use once in two years. Plus, even more worrying that they would back off just because a wrestler made a witty remark. That comment will have been made at least 15 years ago. If it did happen, we can't imagine the same thing would slide in today's WWE.
