Professional wrestling isn't a career that you associate with healthy life choices. It is absolutely brutal on competitors' bodies. The physicality, the constant travel, the um... extracurricular activities. These are all things that add up and break bodies down. Add the lifestyle to the fact that so many of these guys wrestle well beyond the age that athletes in other sports start to call it quits, and it is a wonder any of these guys make it to 60, but plenty do and they deserve recognition.

Not every professional wrestler has to be in peak physical condition. Sure, the sport has its Triple H and its John Cena type characters, but this is also the sport where George "the Animal" Steele and Rikishi made a living. So, with that in mind, when we talk about how these guys look now that they're eligible to join AARP, we probably should grade on a curve. It's not like a guy like King Kong Bundy is going to get it together in his golden years and start making healthier choices.

So, look, you're going to see some names in places you may not agree with, and that is fine. This is America (at least it is where I am as I write this). We're allowed to disagree. Am I going to poke fun? Sure, but I'm also a realist. I know there is a ceiling to just how good some of these guys will ever look.

16 LOOKING GREAT: FINLAY

via twitter.com

Finlay, or "Dave" as his friends call him, still works for the WWE. He has largely left his in-ring career behind for a life behind the camera. Now again, no one is going to tell you Finlay looks amazing, but the guy turned 60 in January, and for 60 he is very much living up to the "Fit Finlay" name.

This guy is very much in the good graces of Vince and other front office types at the WWE. In addition to his championship career, he also helped train superstars like John Cena and Randy Orton. It's safe to say that he will be able to use the WWE corporate gym to stay in shape for as long as he wants.

15 LOOKING THEIR AGE: JERRY LAWLER

via youtube.com

Jerry Lawler looks fine... for Jerry Lawler, but don't kid yourself. Sure, he's 68-years-old now and we said we would be grading on a curve, but let's stop pretending that Jerry Lawler doesn't look like your uncle that owns a mattress store when he puts that cape and crown on.

Lawler has actually settled nicely into the retired wrestler lifestyle. He hosts a podcast (as one does in 2018) called Dinner With the King. He owns King Jerry Lawler's Bar & Grill in his hometown of Memphis. Lawler also makes time for fans at various pop culture conventions around the country. All of these things are great, because they mean Jerry Lawler is spending more time with his shirt on these days.

14 LOOKING GREAT: JAKE "THE SNAKE" ROBERTS

via wikimedia.org

See, this is what I mean. Is Jake an Adonis? No, but remember what he looked for so long? This was a guy with serious addiction issues. In his prime, Jake wrestled at around 260 pounds. In 2012, he had ballooned to over 300 as a result of some questionable life choices. He was wrestling at independent shows when he was in no shape to be doing so because he had to pay the bills somehow.

Now, Jake is 62-years-old. He has been following his friend Diamond Dallas Page's DDP Yoga program. It helped him get back into shape and get his mind right to deal with his addictions. So no, Jake the Snake Roberts doesn't have the statuesque physique that so many pine for, but considering how he looked just ten years ago, he is looking great today!

13 LOOKING THEIR AGE: AX

via youtube.com

Remember Demolition? The tag team dominated the WWE in the late 80s and very early 90s. The team's original members, Ax and Smash, were wildly different in age. It is part of the reason the then-WWF put Ax out to pasture and introduced Crush as Smash's new partner in 1990. The other part was that an allergic reaction to shellfish temporarily left Ax with a serious heart condition.

Ax was played by Bill Eadie, who is now 70 and just retired from in-ring competition last year. Now look, Ax was never the picture of physical fitness, but to see him in the makeup now is kinda sad. It's okay to be a normal old guy, Bill.

12 LOOKING GREAT: KEVIN SULLIVAN

via twitter.com

Kevin Sullivan is 68-years-old and no doubt has old man strength. He has mastered that old time "big but somehow still in great shape" look. Sully definitely looks like one of the toughest men approaching 70 that we've ever seen. He is making sporadic appearances for Ring of Honor these days, and his in ring days are mostly behind him. Fans can still spot him at various autograph signings and wrestling conventions. Check out the look in his eye though in this photo. That is the wild-eyed look of someone that you have to tell "no biting" before a parking lot brawl. Hopefully this legend can keep his great shape for many years to come.

11 LOOKING THEIR AGE: NIKOLAI VOLKOFF

via bookprowrestlers.com

Remember the Cold War? Of course you don't! Chances are if you're reading this, you're about 25. The Sportster does do a lot of advertising on Facebook though, so it is very possible you are Russian and found the link that way. If you are Russian, you remember the Cold War. Anyway, welcome young people and Russians!

Nikolai Volkoff and his partner Boris Zhukov made the perfect heel tag team in the 80s. Zhukov, by the way, was a dude from Virginia named Jimmy. Volkoff still works out and is still in pretty good shape physically, but good golly Miss Molly, look at that face! I get it. People age, but those are crags usually reserved for the Rocky Mountains.

10 LOOKING GREAT: BRUNO SAMMARTINO

via aminoapps.com

Bruno Sammartino is 82 years old, and if he really wanted to, he could crush you between his pecs. Of course, judging by that picture, if you somehow ended up between his pecs you would choke on chest hair.

Sammartino is 100,000,000,000% retired these days. He still shows up to WWE Hall of Fame inductions. The company may roll him out every now and then to do an interview for the WWE Network, but he's done with the heavy lifting. Still though, it looks like he would be up for a Hell in a Cell match if someone asked. It is just unbelievable that a man his age can still look so jacked.

9 LOOKING THEIR AGE: TITO SANTANA

via si.com

I watched WWF Superstars of Wrestling each Saturday morning as a kid. I remember Tito Santana wrestling on the show nearly every week. But in all honesty I don't ever remember him winning a single match. That might be why he spent most of his 50s not in the ring, but as an elementary school PE teacher. Google it.

Tito Santana still wrestles about once a month. He's 64, and I mean look at that picture! If this was the only picture of Tito Santana ever taken, it would be pretty hard to imagine he was ever a part of the biggest wrestling promotion on earth.

8 LOOKING GREAT: HULK HOGAN

via youtube.com

Alright, look, admittedly time has not been kind to the myth that was Hulk Hogan. Does the guy really say prayers and take vitamins? Who knows? Has he gotten in hot water for some questionable remarks as well as some questionable activities with friends and wives and videos? The answer to that one is much easier to figure out.

Now, let's give the Hulkster a little credit. The man is 64 years old and somehow has managed to stay in really great shape. That's not what you would expect of the former owner of a failed beach bar in Tampa. Don't shed a tear for him though. He still has the gift shop!

7 LOOKING THEIR AGE: TERRY FUNK

via youtube.com

Terry Funk looks like divorce and bad financial decisions took human form, which come to think of it seems about right for a guy that used to walk to the ring to the sounds of The Eagles' "Desperado". Funk is a hardcore legend and his body has paid the price for it. It is amazing he is still wrestling at 73-years-old.

And that's the thing. He is still wrestling at 73. The guy doesn't move well and his gut is a little larger than it used to be. Heck, he's 73 after all! A man of his legendary status shouldn't have to be wrestling at this age, but he insists he doesn't want to give it up and will continue to wrestle as long as he can.

6 LOOKING GREAT: VINCE MCMAHON

via digitalspy.com

Okay, "looking good" is a relative term here. Yes, Mr. McMahon is an incredible physical specimen for anyone, let alone a dude in his early 70s. He's not just buff. He's not just jacked. I would dare say the guy is an Adonis!

But that's the thing. Mr. McMahon is yoked in a way that doesn't look like any normal human being ever could. He has been known to workout with great intensity. Now, all that being said, this is someone's grandfather. Think about your pop pop for a second. Can he deliver a pedigree? Can he take a fall off a ladder? I didn't think so. Mr. McMahon can beat your grandfather up if he wanted to.

5 LOOKING THEIR AGE: SGT. SLAUGHTER

via youtube.com

There is only one guy on this list that was both a WWF action figure and a GI Joe and you're looking at him. Now, I want to be fair here. Sarge was never the picture of physical fitness, but these days the man is bald. Let's be polite and say he is "lumbering." He looks like the kind of guy you'd see in an  infomercial on Fox News in the middle of the afternoon.

Sgt. Slaughter, who's real name is Robert Remus, is 69-years-old and lives in North Carolina. From time to time he pops up on WWE programs, but he is done wrestling. He makes most of his money these days by making appearances at local pop culture conventions and minor league baseball stadiums.

4 LOOKING GREAT: RICKY "THE DRAGON" STEAMBOAT

via wwe.com

Forget "looking good for your age." Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat still looks great, and he just turned 65. He's still in great shape too. He spent a couple of years in Orlando training NXT wrestlers for the WWE. Then he became a full time ambassador for the company, hitting the road to promote video games and DVD collections.

Steamboat actually returned to the ring earlier this year. Just last month he was in Akron, Ohio, where he defeated The Duke at Absolute Intense Wrestling's Enter the Dragon event. It was Steamboat's first match in 8 years, and he definitely is still able to impress fans everywhere.

3 LOOKING THEIR AGE: RIC FLAIR

via tmz.com

Let's start by acknowledging that Ric Flair is lucky to be alive and the world is lucky to still have Ric Flair in it. This is a guy that used to get drunk every night, has been with more women, and thus exposed to more diseases, than anyone can count. He has an on-going heart condition. He went into kidney failure. It is a miracle he has made it to see age 69... which somehow seems appropriate.

Now, let's be honest. Ric Flair looks like he's seen better days. He still is as witty and as charming as ever, but physically Flair has seen better days. Part of what is probably keeping him going is that he has shifted his wrestling focus away from being in the ring himself, and instead being happy to be his daughter Charlotte's number one fan.

2 LOOKING GREAT: DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE

via journeyofafrontman.com

I mean, you can't be surprised by who tops this list on the good side, right? Since leaving the ring full time, DDP has dedicated himself to staying healthy and making sure other legendary wrestlers get the support they need to get or stay healthy. His DDP Yoga program has made him rich all over again, and he has even been known to just pick up the phone and call regular people that buy his DVDs and start the program to give them some words of encouragement.

2016 was the last time we saw DDP in the ring, but he is still in peak form. If he really wanted to, the guy could make a comeback tomorrow at 62 and has built up such a reputation both in and out of the wrestling world, that the fan support would be there for him to get a title shot if he really wanted one.

1 LOOKING THEIR AGE: THE IRON SHIEK

via thegate.ca

Hossein Khosrow Ali Vaziri, or as we know him "The Iron Shiek," is 76 years old and looks like he is 96. He has been drunk at multiple public appearances. He wet his pants when he was on a radio show to promote his documentary a few years ago. In short, things are not going well for the Sheik. You know his Twitter feed that you love so much? Yeah, he doesn't even run that. He just lets some comedy writers use his name.

The Sheik's career is extraordinary and his life story is amazing. The man still clearly loves professional wrestling. You might think that the WWE would embrace him and let him be an ambassador for the company, but given his wealth of health and personal problems, it is easy to see why the company keeps its distance from its former champ.
