Seth Rollins dropped a big hint on Twitter when replying to a fan that he would like to face The Rock at next year's WrestleMania.
The last twelve months have been very up and down for Seth Rollins. When he returned from injury at Extreme Rules last year his booking wasn't great, and despite a marquee match with Triple H at WrestleMania 33 The Architect has been in limbo ever since. The announcement that Seth will be on the cover of this year's offering from WWE 2K has breathed new life into the former WWE Champion's career, and Rollins is looking to ride that momentum all the way to WrestleMania 34.
Some match ups are already being rumored for next year's Showcase of the Immortals, such as Roman Reigns versus Brock Lesnar, but up until now Seth Rollins' name hadn't really been mentioned. Well that has just changed. The self proclaimed brains behind The Shield has signified that he wouldn't mind squaring of against The Rock when WrestleMania heads back to New Orleans in 2018, and to be honest who can blame him?
A Twitter user posted a photo of a match on WWE 2K depicting that Rollins was about to go one on one with The Great One in their virtual WrestleMania. The caption along with it said that it was a match the fan would forever want to see. Cue Seth Rollins who retweeted the pic along with a comment saying that 'Mania is only like 8 months away...'.
I mean Mania is only like 8 months away...🤔🤔 https://t.co/JMQIJaAbXH— Seth Rollins (@WWERollins) July 5, 2017
Although the recognition of the post by Seth Rollin has generated some buzz online, it's still a million miles away from the match being a nailed on certainty. For starters it's been a while since The Rock actually competed in a match, his quick win over Erick Rown excluded of course. AJ Styles is another star who has attempted to create buzz for certain fantasy matches recently, against Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker, but sadly for us and The Phenomenal One neither came to fruition.
While WWE clearly has a lot of stock placed in Seth Rollins, at this current moment in time if they were to bring The Rock back for a match The Architect would probably be quite far down the list of prospective opponents. The likes of Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar and Triple H are likely ahead of him in the running, and even a rubber match with John Cena would probably be more appealing to Vince McMahon than having Rocky do battle with Seth.
