Shawn Michaels was one of the greatest performers of all time, and while most of his marquee matches were singles affairs, he had plenty of classic tag team matches as well. With a career spanning the better part of four decades, there is no shortage of match-ups to choose from.

Michaels has competed against the best from every era of WWE, from the latter days of the Golden Era to the height of the Attitude Era, as well as plenty of great clashes from the later days of the Heartbreak Kid's career.

10 D-Generation X vs. The Big Show & The McMahons (Unforgiven 2006)

A major trend on this list is going to be the presence of Triple H and for good reason. The formation of D-Generation X helped kick start wrestling's Attitude Era, and Michaels' chemistry with The Game is second-to-none. This match against Vince McMahon, his son Shane, and the 'world's largest athlete' is an excellent showcase of DX's range as performers.

While they are perhaps best known for their hilarious antics, this hellacious Hell in A Cell match was one of the bloodiest beatdowns in the history of the WWE. It only came to an end after Triple H broke a sledgehammer over the bosses back for the 1-2-3.

9 D-Generation X vs. Chris Jericho & The Big Show (TLC 2009)

This match stands out not for the high-flying action one would expect from a TLC match, but rather because it gave fans the excellent pairing of Jericho and Michaels in a hardcore setting.

Big Show performs his role exceptionally well here, coming in to swat down the babyfaces chances any time they got close to capturing their tag team championship titles from the rafters. It is not a classic TLC match by any means, but it certainly has its own flavor with rare ladder match participants in Triple H and the Big Show. It's also notable for being when DX started their only Tag Team Title reign.

8 Shawn Michaels & John Cena vs. The Undertaker & Batista (No Way Out 2007)

If you want star power, this match certainly delivered. There are 33(!) world championships between these four all-time greats. The thing that made this match so compelling was the rivalries between each team. Michaels and Cena were set to face each other at WrestleMania in a few short weeks, and the same went for Undertaker and Batista.

This lead to a match within the match for both sets of competitors, as their animosity towards each other allowed for some great set up to what would be two excellent main event matches.

7 D-Generation X vs. Randy Orton & Edge (New Year's Revolution 2007)

In yet another star-studded tag team match, D-Generation X met the newly formed Rated-RKO in what would prove to be one of the toughest matches of Triple H's career. After an exciting brawl to start things out, Triple H was the unfortunate victim of a quadriceps tear.

The injury would usually be devastating to any performer, but Triple H managed to put on an excellent match alongside the Heartbreak Kid despite the blown quad. If you mix Shawn Michaels with performers of this caliber you are guaranteed to see something special.

6 D-Generation X vs. Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase (Hell in A Cell 2009)

This particular match-up has so many interesting things going on. A young DiBiase and Rhodes took on the veterans in a Hell in A Cell match unlike any other. Rather than your standard two-on-two affair, the young guns took the fight to DX and opted to lock Triple H on the outside of the cage.

This created an interesting 2-on-1 scenario that allowed for HBK to put his supreme selling skills on display, making the younger stars look like a million bucks. It's a fun and exciting finish when Triple H is finally able to make the save and is definitely a match worth checking out.

5 The Rockers vs. The Hart Foundation (Saturday Night's Main Event 1990)

An iconic tag team of the 1980s and early '90s, the Rockers were one of the most influential teams of their time. Michaels had quite the successful run with his partner Marty Jannetty before his Hall of Fame singles career, and this bout with the Hart Foundation was considered by many to be a dream match.

The Rockers had been tearing it up across the other wrestling territories, and to see them match up against Bret Hart and his brother-in-law Jim Niedhart was outstanding. This match was actually a fast-paced rematch after a clash just a few months prior and is something worth checking out for fans of both HBK and the Hitman.

4 Shawn Michaels & Steve Austin vs. Owen Hart & The British Bulldog (RAW 1997)

Shawn Michaels' battles with the Hart Foundation continued throughout the '90s, as one of wrestling's unlikeliest duos in Stone Cold and HBK took on Owen Hart and British Bulldog in a stellar RAW main event.

This would be the last match of Owen and Bulldog's tag title reign, as Michaels and Austin managed to pull out a shocking victory. HBK in particular worked extremely to put on a great show after being out of action for the previous few months. Aside from being a bit short, this is another great note on Michaels's resume as a tag team wrestler.

3 Shawn Michaels & Randy Orton vs. Edge & Christian (RAW 2005)

If you want a hidden gem, look no further. This match gets forgotten for many reasons. To start, it took place on the same RAW that featured Batista's infamous 'thumbs down' promo, where he attacked Triple H and made his intentions clear to challenge his former mentor at WrestleMania. Secondly, the bout was used as the catalyst to a Michaels singles feud with Edge and lacked little storyline importance otherwise.

That being said, the match features a young and fiery babyface Orton, the return of a Hall of Fame tag team in Edge and Christian, and excellent ring work between four of the best performers of the modern era. Go check this one out on the Network if you're in the mood for some great wrestling.

2 The Rockers vs. Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard (WWF on MSG 1989)

Few match-ups scream 'instant classic' louder than The Rockers vs. The Brain Busters. Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard are the gold standard of old-school, ground-and-pound tag team wrestling and had already established themselves as top-level talents by the time they entered the WWF.

The Rockers were young and relatively unproven by comparison, and their desire to stand out from the crowd and innovate allowed for them to put on a great show together. This is a must-see for fans of classic, golden-era wrestling.

1 Shawn Michaels & Diesel vs. Razor Ramon & The 1-2-3 Kid (Action Zone 1994)

This match sets the standard for modern tag team matches, with a classic formula that delivers a Match-of-the-Year candidate from four members of 'The Kliq.' Ramon and 1-2-3 Kid start things off with a flurry of fast-paced offense, only for the dastardly Michaels and his bodyguard Diesel to take control.

They dominate Ramon, making Waltman the unlikely hero when he is eventually called upon to clean house. This match features off-the-wall action from start to finish and is considered by many to be on of the best tag team matches of all time, making the case that much stronger for Shawn Michaels' status as the GOAT.
