The WWE Universe was not very receptive of how the company gave them a closer look of former United States and ECW Champion Bobby Lashley.

At first, WWE did a much-needed trip back to memory lane to show Lashley's dominance while competing for the company from 2005-2007. While only being in WWE in-ring for two years, Lashley created a very impressive resume. In between this time, Lashley endeavored in an MMA career, as well as competed for numerous independent promotions along with becoming a top name for Impact Wrestling. As expected, WWE showed the MMA career, but not the tenure in Impact.

When Lashley returned on the Raw after WrestleMania, he received a sizable ovation, as he pursued to end Elias' singing and crowd-bashing in the ring. Following this, WWE did not put much of an effort in showcasing Lashley as a singles competitor, as he competed in tag team matches each week.

On Raw, Lashley had a sit-down interview with Renee Young. WWE finally had the opportunity to let fans who either were too young to remember, started watching WWE within the past 10 years, or did not follow his Impact Wrestling career be introduced to Lashley's dominance in the ring.

Instead, they decided to have him talk about being the youngest child, picked on by his sisters, and explain the rest of his family dynamic which included his father being in the military. He even took the final moments of this interview to look directly in the camera and give a shout out to his sisters.

The WWE Universe were quick to roast Lashley after this interview-turned-counseling session. Honestly, the fans were not looking for stories about Lashley's sisters tying him up in the woods, or his sister Kathy carrying a broom with her. Instead people were looking for his character to further be developed, and were disappointed.

It is truly difficult to determine WWE's angle in presenting that kind of interview when introducing, or re-introducing, fans to someone the caliber of Bobby Lashley. Perhaps the producers of that interview thought Lashley showing a softer side would pull the heartstrings of fans. However, instead, it produced a totally opposite reaction from many members of the WWE Universe.

While Lashley has never been very strong on the mic, his wrestling ability and athleticism has been enough to speak for itself. The 41-year-old has another opportunity to show his skills in WWE, and the sit-down interview has already created a hurdle to many for the 4-time Impact Wrestling Heavyweight Champion.
