It was a weird summer for the WWE. The company continued on with the Roman Reigns Brock Lesnar storyline. Somehow, we’re still discussing the two in the fall months following Lesnar’s surprising appearance at the Hell in a Cell PPV. Although that might not be everyone’s cup of tea there is a lot to be excited about as it pertains to the remainder of 2018. The rumor mill is absolutely swamped with expectations for the rest of 2018. Once again, the stories with the most heat pertain to possible returns. From Rey Mysterio re-signing with the WWE to Shawn Michaels possibly returning for a few more matches these are developing stories that have the WWE fan base up and listening. Given the rough summer, it’s about time that we get some excitement! But seriously, who would have thought that it would come from 43 and 53 year olds!

Along with the numerous legends set to return, we’ll talk about other possible scenarios to expect such as pushes, gimmick changes and possible matches. We’ll include WWE stars like Roman Reigns, Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch, taking a look at what the magic 8-ball has in store for them during the remainder of 2018. Roman haters, avert your eyes on the last entry of the list!

Enjoy the article folks and like always be sure to share it with a friend. Without further ado here are 10 things to expect from the WWE women for the rest of 2018 and 10 from the men. Let’s get started!

20 Women - Becky Lynch Becomes Female Stone Cold

via wrestlinginc.com

“Becky ought to just be Becky because there's money in Becky being Becky. Let the people decide. As long as she's being true to herself, she's going to fly as high and as far as they want her to." (Source: Wrestlinginc)

These are the words from Stone Cold Steve Austin himself. It seems like Becky listened to every words as she continues to enjoy her prominent run as the most over female in the entire WWE. Her new outlaw persona has drawn comparisons to one Stone Cold Steve Austin. Given the link and success don’t expect WWE to sour on her persona any time soon. Lynch has become must see television and you can expect for this to ride out until the end of 2018 at the very least.

19 Men - Bray Wyatt Babyface Push

via cagesideseats.com

For now Wyatt is being kept off television while working the live event loop. However don’t fear Wyatt fans, he is expected to return at some point with new momentum by his side.

According to the rumor mill it is expected that Wyatt will sustain a big push while serving as a babyface this time around. He hasn’t been the most successful WWE star in the last couple of years so maybe, just maybe this completely changes his trajectory. Look for Wyatt to pick up a lot of wins during tail end of 2018 with the crowd in his corner.

18 Women - Women’s Tag Titles

via wwe.com

“Not quite yet but that’s absolutely something we’ve heard loud and clear from our fan base and it’s something we’re keen on implementing as soon as we are able to.”

Those are Stephanie’s words to Sky Sports pertaining to the Women’s Tag Titles - so in other words it seems like a when and not if type of ordeal. It was initially expected for the belts to debut at the Evolution event. Now this is still in the realm of possibility however the event might be special enough that the belts aren’t needed.

Survivor Series is a team oriented event so perhaps the belts finally debut on the show. If not, they’ll come in early 2019. It’ll give the division a huge boost with so many women finally getting more TV time because of it.

17 Men - More WWE Veterans Involved For Saudi Arabia & Survivor Series Build

via foxsports.com

The men’s roster can expect a huge boost from a variety of veterans to finish of 2018. During a promo between Undertaker and Shawn Michaels it became crystal clear that their presence is much needed on the show – the two hit their promo out of the park. Mick Foley did the same just a couple of weeks later.

With major shows on the horizon such as Super-Showdown, The Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia and Survivor Series, look for WWE to sprinkle lots of familiar faces to their programming for the rest of 2018. Among the names; John Cena, Brock Lesnar, Kane and a couple of more names we’ll discuss throughout the article.

16 Women - Hall Of Famers Prolong Their Stay

via usatoday.com

Similar to the male roster it is expected that a slew of veteran names are likely to bolster the women’s roster on route to the Evolution PPV. Both Trish and Lita have caused lots of buzz and they are expected to return just prior to the event. Trish is set to take on Alexa Bliss while Lita is matched against the veteran Mickie James.

Fans can expect lots of other returns. The fan base can also expect lots of the legends to prolong their stay a little longer. With Survivor Series looming after the PPV it is expected that some of the legends will get another match before riding off into the sunset.

15 Men - More Managers

via thesportster.com

Vince is quite the complex human-being - for whatever reason he hasn’t been the biggest fan of tag team wrestling or managers. Over the past couple of years we’ve seen less and less managers on WWE programming. Heck even in 2018 we saw The Authors of Pain get stripped of Paul Ellering. However that proved to be an awful decision and perhaps Vince is seeing things differently now.

2018 has seen a slew of new managers during the second half of the year and that’s expected to continue. In the recent months we’ve seen Zelina Vega, Lio Rush and Drake Maverick all debut in managerial positions. The number is expected to grow moving forward.

14 Women - Nikki Bella Push & Heel Turn

via wwe.com

This one seems to be inevitable, as of right now Nikki and Ronda continue to work together on WWE programming. The duo is also set to team up at the Super-Showdown event. However this is all leading to Nikki turning on Rousey and setting up a main event match between the two.

Bella wasn’t everyone’s top option for a main event match against Rousey at the Evolution PPV. However WWE is all about mainstream attention and their isn’t a single match that gives them more of it than Rousey against Bella, two of the most popular females both in and out of the company. Look for this rivalry to dominate the headlines in the 2018 fall months.

13 Men – No Matt Hardy

via youtube.com

We’ve discussed things to expect however what fans shouldn’t expect is Matt Hardy on WWE programming for the rest of 2018. He recently took to social media basically announcing his retirement;

“Thanks for the massive love tonight, #WWECorpusChristi.. I fulfilled my final advertised live event commitment. Please support my partner, @WWEBrayWyatt, going forward. He’s outrageously talented & we’ve become kindred souls during our time teaming together. Thank you, SAMAEL.”

It’s entirely possible that this might be an angle of sorts. However the Wrestling Observer recently claims that Matt is in fact done with his in-ring work for the time being. Don’t expect much in terms of brokenness on WWE TV for the rest of 2018.

12 Women - UFC Horsewomen Reunite In NXT

via thesportster.com

Jessamyn Duke made her debut at an NXT live event while Marina Shafir played the role of her manager. The two started training at the PC a couple of months back and it now seems as though they’re being eased into the ring outside of NXT tapings via the live event loops.

It’s only a matter of time when Triple H pulls the trigger on this dominating faction. Without a doubt when Duke and Shafir debut they’ll do so alongside former NXT Champion Shayna Baszler. This can rock the NXT women’s division. Expect it to take place at some point before 2018 comes to an end.

11 Men - Kurt Angle Returns As In-Ring Competitor

via VoxCatch.fr

"I’m really sorry that I won’t be on Monday Night Raw for a little while. I enjoyed every minute of it with the WWEUniverse. I was told by @stephaniemcmahon that I need a vacation. I don’t know if it’s temporary or permanent. I Hope I will be back sooner than later. Thank you WWEUniverse. Much Love. #itstrue,"

So what he really meant to say is "hey guys, I’m leaving to shake off a little of the ring rust but once I return get ready to see the Wrestling Machine once again, oh it’s true, it’s damn true!" Okay you get what we mean. Angle is set for an in-ring return. In all likelihood his first opponent is going to be Baron Corbin. Look for the return to take place in the upcoming weeks perhaps at the Crown Jewel event.

10 Women - Asuka Heel Turn

via wwe.com

What started off as a memorable 2018 for Asuka has now turned into a nightmare. The former NXT Champion won the inaugural Women’s Royal Rumble. It seemed like only up from there. However this hasn’t been the case. Loses to Charlotte and Carmella completely plummeted Asuka’s stock. She even took weeks off of television. The babyface persona just isn’t working and a big change might be in the works.

Asuka and Naomi are currently aligned. However it is expected that Asuka turns on Naomi and finally joins the dark side as a heel. Expect this dramatic turn before 2018 is up.

9 Men - Bobby Roode Heel Turn

via cagesideseats.com

Speaking of wrestlers that need a heel turn we now turn our attention to The Glorious One, Bobby Roode. He was at one point the top heel of NXT. Inexplicably the WWE decided to turn the wrestler into a babyface and it has completely sunk him to the lower-mid card.

A heel turn seems rather obvious and something fans can definitely expect in 2018. He’s currently working alongside babyface Chad Gable. That relationship is set to end with Roode finally turning when the time is right. Gable might also benefit from the turn with rumors of Jason Jordan returning and American Alpha reuniting.

8 Women - Sonya Deville Push

via twitter.com

“@SonyaDevilleWWE didn’t come to #SDLive as a “warm up” act. She came to beat the champ — you have to respect that.”

There might have been more to Charlotte’s comments via Twitter. Perhaps WWE is thinking about legitimizing Sonya Deville. Not only did she do so with a competitive match against Charlotte but she also got some praise from The Queen after the match.

Given these circumstances Deville is set to enjoy a push in the upcoming weeks and perhaps throughout the rest of 2018. The talent hasn’t had the best main roster run despite all her potential and prominent points with NXT. Things might be changing. Expect a better Deville for the rest of 2018.

7 Men - Cien Almas Push

via nexterawrestling.net

Speaking of NXT and pushes we now turn our attention to Cien Almas. According to the word behind the scenes Vince McMahon is very much into Almas. This is going to lead to prominent booking for the rest of 2018.

Almas has worked competitive matches with Daniel Bryan in the recent weeks – although he didn’t win Almas looked pretty darn good in his showings against one of the WWE’s top performers. WWE is obviously confident in him with another high profile bout against AJ Styles on SmackDown Live. Look for Almas to continue his recent momentum and perhaps enter the US Title picture sooner rather than later.

6 Women - Charlotte Stays Babyface

via wwe.com

It was expected that Charlotte was to turn heel while Lynch was to stay babyface. However things have shifted. A double turn was then expected for the HIAC PPV but once again Lynch came out as the clear villain while Charlotte was booked as the babyface for fans to feel sympathy for.

Charlotte turning heel doesn’t seem to be the plan at the moment. Vince seems content in gaining some sympathy votes for Charlotte during her current babyface run. That was evidenced by Flair getting “screwed” out of the title and Becky refusing to shake her hand. You can expect this to ride out till the end of 2018. Clearly, WWE wants to make Charlotte the Roman Reigns of the women's division.

5 Men - Shawn Michaels Returns To The Ring

via wwe.com

Since he called it a career this rumor just hasn’t went away. Even in the recent years Michaels admitted to being given several offers whether it be taking on AJ Styles at WrestleMania 33 or taking part in the Saudi Arabia show.

It seems like Shawn might be having a change of heart. Following a promo with The Undertaker HBK seemed to tease a return. According to the recent new Michaels might take part in a tag team match of sorts alongside Triple H at the Saudi Arabia event. This can also lead to a match against The Undertaker at Survivor Series. It’s never a bad thing to expect more HBK for the rest of 2018 folks.

4 Women - New Mid-Card Championship Title

via wwe.com

According to Joe Peisich of the Fired Up Podcast, things might get a little more interesting in the Women’s Division before the end of 2018 or at the start of 2019. Although women’s Tag Titles have been all the talk, a new mid-card title is now likely to debut before.

According to the recent rumor the WWE plans on debuting Intercontinental and US Title like Championships for both brands. This would be an excellent idea as it would finally give the women outside of the main program something to focus on. It can also bolster the career of a young talent which was the initial purpose for the IC Championship back in the late 90s.

3 Men - Rey Mysterio Returns

via instagram.com

Fans have waited long enough. Rey Mysterio will return in 2018 and the fall months seem to be the perfect time. With both Crown Jewel and Survivor Series looming these can be ideal events for Mysterio to return at. Saudi Arabia promoters love the inclusion of WWE veterans so perhaps in order to please them the WWE might use Rey Mysterio on the card once again.

However the bigger possibility is Rey having a match at Survivor Series. This has a high probability due to the 2K video game release and the WWE stressing the promotion of the game during the event. We saw it with Goldberg and Sting in the past – Rey might be the guy in 2018.

2 Women – Ronda Rousey Remains Untouchable

via youtube.com

Death, taxes, Roman getting overbooked and Ronda Rousey destroying the competition – these are four life guarantees.... Seriously speaking, Rousey is expected to continue her dominance for the rest of the current year. She’ll have some speed bumps along the way however don’t expect Rousey to lose a match.

It might get a lot more interesting for 2019 with WrestleMania opponents already being discussed. Charlotte seems to be the front-runner with a rumored main event bout between the two at 'Mania. However it should also be noted that Cris Cyborg of the UFC recently stirred the pot expressing interest in a match against Rousey at WrestleMania 35.

1 Men – Roman Reigns Lengthy Title Run

via twitter.com

According to Sports Illustrated Roman Reigns is in line for a lengthy Universal Title run. He’s set to face both Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman at the Crown Jewel event and although that’s some stiff competition, Reigns is expected to walk out of the event still as the WWE’s Big Dog.

The title run is expected to run through 2018. The WWE spent way too much time building Roman’s run to the championship so it only makes sense that they’ll take their time now that he’s finally champion. For all those Roman haters out there sit back and take a deep breath cause this title run is here to stay. BELIEVE THAT!
