Strowman Becomes Legitimate Threat To Lesnar's Reign

Braun Strowman made a big case to challenge for Brock Lesnar's Universal Championship by laying out Brock Lesnar.

Braun Strowman picked up where he left off from SummerSlam during the opening segment of Raw, man handling Brock Lesnar.

On Sunday night at SummerSlam, no one did more damage to the eventual winner, Brock Lesnar, than Braun Strowman. The Monster Among Men brutalized Brock in such a way that the Universal Champion had to be carted off on a stretcher. Yes, The Beast made it back into the arena and battled on to retain his title, but as his advocate Paul Heyman said on the ensuing Raw, never has Lesnar had to leave his battlefield before Sunday night.

Despite Braun's best efforts, Lesnar still left SummerSlam as Universal Champion. The champ and his advocate opened Raw by gloating of course, and Strowman crashed the party. As is often the case with Strowman he hadn't come to talk. The former Wyatt Family member instead delivered not one, but two of his signature power slams to Lesnar, leaving him lying once again.

What this continues to prove is that Strowman not only has Lesnar's number, but he also may very well be the most legitimate threat to The Beast's Universal Championship that we've seen so far. Strowman decimated Lesnar at the Barclays Center on Sunday night and had it not been for the other two Superstars in the match, we may very well have seen a new champion crowned. Then less than 24 hours later Strowman proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that he can go with Lesnar, and maybe even beat him.

While it wasn't confirmed yet, of course, all this could point towards Strowman versus Lesnar coming soon to a pay-per-view near you. Lesnar is supposedly being advertised to appear at Raw's next pay-per-view No Mercy, taking place in a month's time. Perhaps that's where we will see these two behemoths clash one on one without the added bother of other Superstars such as Roman Reigns and Samoa Joe taking Strowman and Lesnar's attention away from each other.

Judging by the crowd reaction in Brooklyn at both SummerSlam and Raw, the WWE Universe loves Lesnar, and they absolutely adore Strowman. Fans want to see these two men face off out of sheer curiosity and also want to know whether WWE has enough faith in Braun to not only have him beat Lesnar, but be Universal Champion on the back of it. If and when this match happens it will be can't miss and may be even more destructive than the SummerSlam main event.
