Kurt Angle is back! At TLC this past Sunday the Olympic gold medalist made his return to a WWE ring for the first time in 11 years. For the most part, it was a success. Even though Angle looked a little lost for the opening parts of the match, after he returned from being put through a table he fired up and reminded us of the Angle of old. German suplexes, Angle Slams through tables, and a Triple Powerbomb to finish things off. What's next for Angle though? Hopefully, the TLC match wasn't just a one-off and the Raw General Manager could wind up facing some if not all of the Superstars on this list.
5. AJ Styles
AJ Styles and Kurt Angle are not strangers by any stretch of the imagination, although wrestling fans on a strict WWE diet may be forgiven for thinking otherwise. These two extremely talented Superstars met many times while both were plying their trade in TNA. In WWE, however, they never had the chance to meet and less than two years ago, it seemed like this match would never happen in the big leagues. In fact, even last week it probably felt like it would never happen. All of a sudden things have drastically changed and on Sunday night both men unexpectedly performed at TLC. There may be no call for it quite yet, but WWE must see the worth in staging this match somewhere down the line.
4. Seth Rollins
Kurt Angle and Seth Rollins may have been on the same page at TLC on Sunday night, but apparently that wasn't the original plan for the Raw General Manager's triumphant return to the ring. Allegedly, the reason that The Architect and our Olympic Hero were the ones chosen to feature in the commercials for WWE 2K18 was so that an in ring angle could be started between the two. Rumors that followed those original murmurings then claimed that WWE later scrapped the idea after deciding against having Angle wrestle again at all. Well, clearly that isn't the case as we are now officially living in a time where Angle is an active WWE Superstar once again. That opens up the possibility of a Rollins vs Angle match, and what an entertaining bout it would be.
3. Triple H
Another name being banded around for Angle's potential come back match was a blockbuster bout against Triple H. These two clashed before, and Angle spoke of how The Game took care of him during a match after the GM had his bell rung. Even though Angle already returned to the ring, there is still a potential storyline that could lead to a showdown with Triple H. Aside from NXT, which doesn't really count, The Game hasn't been seen on WWE TV since he lost to Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 33. Since then, Angle has been instated as the GM of Raw and has been running the show. Angle strikes us as the kind of person who would butt heads with The Authority, and that's likely to happen when Stephanie and her husband are back on Monday nights. All of this could lead to a match for control of WWE's flagship between the two at WrestleMania 34.
2. The Miz
The Miz seems to love nothing more than provoking General Managers. He did it almost on a weekly basis with Daniel Bryan on SmackDown Live and he has continued that trend with Kurt Angle since his move to Raw. The cowardly heel that Miz plays likely didn't count on his superiors fighting back, hence him targeting them. Well, he now has more than he bargained for with Angle. Now that the Olympic gold medalist has returned to in-ring action, he can exact revenge on The Miz himself, and he already did a little of that by gaining the pin fall on him at TLC on Sunday night. Rest assured, this will only be the start of Miz versus Angle, and this will likely be the first program Angle works now that he's back.
1. Brock Lesnar
During Kurt Angle's first run with WWE, the six time WWE Champion wrestled just about everyone that there was to wrestle. John Cena, The Rock, Stone Cold, Shawn Michaels, he's competed with them all. His greatest adversary though was probably The Beast Incarnate, Brock Lesnar. Their rivalry had it all, including an incredible WrestleMania showdown at the 19th Showcase of the Immortals. Who would have thought that 15 years later both men would be competing for WWE once again? As of right now, it's unclear as to how much Angle can handle in the ring—getting in there with Lesnar is very different to playing back up for The Shield—but if he is fully fit, then this match has to happen.
