Seth Rollins didn’t spend very long without a Tag Team Championship draped over his shoulder. It was only a few weeks ago that Samoa Joe helped The Bar capture the belts from him and Dean Ambrose. Now just a week after The Lunatic Fringe was sidelined with a long term injury, The Architect is holding gold once again alongside somebody else. That somebody else is Jason Jordan, and in all fairness it wasn’t exactly Rollins’ idea for the two of them to team together. Kurt Angle came up with the bright idea and clearly they make quite the team. Needless to say Jordan probably wouldn’t have been most fans first choice though, so who would we have preferred to see Rollins win the title with?

5. Finn Balor

Finn Balor seems a little lost in WWE right now. Before his injury the Irishman was on top of the world and was treated by WWE as if he was the next big thing. Since returning from said injury; however, it has been quite the opposite. Balor currently takes on Superstars way below his station each and every week for no real rhyme or reason, the latest of which was Curt Hawkins. An angle could have played out on Raw this week where Rollins was attempting to seek out a partner to replace his injured brother, Dean Ambrose, and Balor could have been the one to answer the call. He and Rollins have a chequered past, which combined with their incredible in-ring ability, would have made for an interesting mix.

4. John Cena

Christmas Day Raw marked the return to Monday night of John Cena. There was some speculation in the build to his return that he would be taking on Roman Reigns for the Intercontinental Championship in order to make the Christmas Raw a very big deal. That didn’t end up happening of course and instead Cena took on Elias during the opening match of the night. If Big Match John is back for a while then this thing with Elias seems like a bit of a nothing angle. A better choice would have been to pair him up with Rollins as a surprise just as the title match was about to start. The win would have not only been unique and interesting, but it would have also caused friction between Rollins and Reigns.

3. Roman Reigns

While we’re on the topic of Roman Reigns we may as well cover one of the most obvious choices for a Seth Rollins tag team partner. Technically The Shield are still together, right? The Big Dog very much seems to be doing his own thing at the moment, although one of the reasons he unleashed hell on Samoa Joe this week was as retribution for The Destroyer injuring Dean Ambrose. That aside, surely if Rollins wanted to get revenge on The Bar for them tormenting him recently he would have turned to the third member of The Shield? Kurt Angle jumped the gun a little however and inserted his storyline son into the match instead.

2. Samoa Joe

Strange pairings as Tag Team Champions are nothing new in the world of professional wrestling. General Managers and commissioners throughout history have slammed polar opposites together in order to create weird and wonderful tandems that go against the grain of what makes a functional tag team. No offence to them, but Seth Rollins and Jason Jordan will likely not go down as either the most memorable or the most loved odd couple in WWE history. There’s conflict between the two, but not enough. If The Architect had been paired with Samoa Joe however, then we would have had a volatile and intriguing pairing on our hands. Imagine Rollins having to co-exist with the man who put his regular tag team partner on the shelf.

1. Kurt Angle

via wwe.com

Suffice to say most of the WWE Universe are waiting with baited breath for the angle between Jason Jordan and Kurt Angle to actually become interesting. One way to do that would have been for the GM to start inserting himself into situations that Jordan wanted for himself. Imagine if instead of pairing Rollins with his kayfabe son on Monday night, he said that he would help The Architect get revenge on The Bar. The two of them win the Tag Team Titles while Jordan is left back stage watching on the monitor. Angle could have kept doing that week by week, oblivious to Jordan getting more and more upset, until he finally snapped and attacked the Hall of Famer. The perfect beginning to a build for a WrestleMania match between the two.
