WWE announced a new business venture with Facebook earlier this week, the Mixed Match Challenge. A new show from the company that will air exclusively on Facebook Watch. The first episode will air on January 16th and will run for 12 weeks every Tuesday night. MMC will be unique in a number of ways, and not just because it will air exclusively on social media. The episodes will be just 20 minutes long and will focus around a tag team tournament with the winner earning $100,000 to donate to a charity of their choice. All teams involved will feature one male and one female Superstar, 24 in total from both Raw and SmackDown Live. 22 of the 24 Superstars have already been revealed, but how they will pair up is yet to be seen. Here are five pairings we would personally love to see in the tournament.
5. The Miz and Alexa Bliss
The Miz has been announced as one of the male competitors for the MMC, but unfortunately his lovely wife Maryse has not. There is one more Raw Superstar to be announced but sadly for The Awesome One, that final slot belongs to a male so that the numbers are evened out. There is a standout choice to be Miz's tag partner for the tournament though, Alexa Bliss. Not only are the two of them friends as has been demonstrated on Total Divas this season, but the pairs' personalities are extremely similar. They're both arrogant and believe themselves to be the best, so how about they pair up and go about proving that in the Mixed Match Challenge?
4. Jimmy Uso and Naomi
While The Miz may not have the luxury of potentially getting to team with his wife during the MMC, Jimmy Uso might well do. He and his wife Naomi are both on the SmackDown Live brand and have both been named as competitors for the upcoming tournament. The real-life couple have already taken to social media to discuss their potential pairing and needless to say Jimmy probably slept on the couch last night. The Tag Team Champion discussed who he could potentially be paired with aside from his own wife before signing off by telling Naomi that he doesn't want to be paired with her. Awkward to say the least, and even if Jimmy doesn't want it we would like to see the two of them team up.
3. Nia Jax and Braun Strowman
There was a time in WWE where Nia Jax and Braun Strowman's careers were pretty much running parallel to one another. Shortly after the draft in 2016 both of the powerhouses were showcased on Raw by being giving enhancement talent to squash every Monday night. Even though The Monster Among Men has arguably gone on to have more success than Nia, there's no arguing that they are still both the most intimidating figures in their respective divisions. If they are paired together it's hard to imagine anyone that will be able to stop them. Unfortunately though it looks as if Nia will be tagging with Enzo Amore in order to further the romantic angle between the two.
2. Charlotte Flair and Shinsuke Nakamura
While nothing has happened between the two as a part of a televised angle, judging by social media Charlotte Flair and AJ Styles seem to be quite good friends. Sadly for The Queen though the WWE Champion will not be a part of the Mixed Match Challenge. AJ's fellow New Japan alum Shinsuke Nakamura will be though, and he and the current SmackDown Women's Champion would make quite the formidable pairing. In the previous entry we discussed the fact that a team consisting of Braun Strowman and Nia Jax couldn't be stopped. Well The King Of Strong Style and The Queen Of SmackDown Live could probably give them a pretty good match. Here's hoping that these two get matched up.
1. Finn Balor and Bayley
Let's be honest, of all the competitors that have been announced for the Mixed Match Challenge so far, there are only two that we are absolutely dying to see team up together, Finn Balor and Bayley. Fans of NXT will know that the two Superstars are extremely good friends, and while both were champions at Full Sail they formed something of a bond. As you can see from the photo above Balor and Bayley would make outings together at live events and sometimes even dress as one another. If that wasn't enough to make you want to see them team together, the fact that both desperately need a boost right now should knock you off the fence. A run all the way to the final of the MMC is exactly what these two need plus who better to donate $100,000 to charity than The Demon and The Hugger?
