Swoggle, the 4ft 5in wrestler formerly known as Hornswoggle, has revealed that he's very good friends with John Cena and is still in regular contact with the future WWE Hall of Famer.

The 33-year-old spent 10 years with the promotion before departing in 2016 but has made a few cameo appearances here and there, showing up at last year's Greatest Royal Rumble event and even making an elimination before getting tossed. He also emerged from under the ring during the women's Royal Rumble in January this year to chase Zelina Vega after she hid under there for most of the match herself.

Swoggle joined Wrestling Inc's WINCLY podcast recently to discuss various matters, including his friendship with Cena, who he says has been there for him both as a professional and outside of wrestling.

“I just call him my friend John; it’s not a big deal," he said. "He’s like my other friend Dwayne. We send each other Christmas cards to this day…that was a blatant lie.”

“With me he’s always been awesome," he continued. "We still talk here and there and he asks how [my son] Landon is doing. He was there for me a lot, both in career and outside of career stuff. He’s always been a good friend to me.”

The former WWE performer also expressed excitement over the current state of affairs over at NXT. The brand will be on television from next week and will presumably get a lot more exposure.

“NXT sure isn’t like it was when I was there. It definitely wasn’t as cool then as it is now," Swoggle said. "But it’s the cool and hip wrestling right now and it’s amazing to think of the guys they are giving chances to that 10 years ago would have been laughed at and not given a second of time. Wrestling is gonna be really interesting for the next couple of years. It’s gonna be interesting to see how everything pans out.”

Friends in High Places

We aren't sure anything Swoggle said about Cena is true after that Christmas cards bit but there's nothing to prove the contrary so... whatever.

It seems like he considers his relationship with The Rock just as solid, so maybe there's some fame to be made in Hollywood following his very entertaining stint with WWE.
