Taz's in-ring career with WWE may have been cut short, but The Human Suplex Machine definitely made his mark on commentary. Taz spent eight years at the broadcast table with most of that time coming on SmackDown. As most WWE fans know, if you are a commentator then that means Vince McMahon is in your ear pretty much throughout a show. Taz recently joined Chris Jericho's Talk is Jericho podcast where he talked about what it was like to have the Chairman in his ear and how he had "selective hearing" at times when McMahon gave him a message.

"There was this time when Vince McMahon would tell me to say something and I would never say it. Then he would get hot and yell at me to say it, and I would just no-sell it. During the break, Kevin Dunn would ask if I can hear Vince McMahon but I would say that I couldn't hear him at all as a sell. I learned that from one of the commentators.

"Sometimes you just get to the point where you do enough shows; I mean, sometimes Vince McMahon would give you some really good stuff, but we are the last voice to sell tickets. We are the last voice at that time to sell pay-per-views, so Vince McMahon knew that and he would utilize the announce talent."

As Taz said, the art of selling didn't escape him once he traded in his singlet for a headset. You can just imagine McMahon blowing a fume when Taz or another commentator refused to echo what he said to those watching at home.

Taz also talked a bit about WWE's current color commentators and while he was complimentary of Corey Graves, he wasn't effusive in praise of Byron Saxton. Taz is a follower of the mantra "You never played," and doesn't buy Saxton as a commentator because he never amounted to much as a wrestler.

"I believe, and I know that it is going to sound negative on those that weren't world champions; Corey Graves was a former tag team champion in NXT. Byron Saxton barely worked, so that to me jumps out. I believe in that. You can't tell me as a fan, if I have never been a wrestler, you can't tell me what it is like to be a world champion if you have never done it. I'm sorry."

Despite not being a fan of Sexton, Taz said he's still on good terms with WWE and Vince McMahon had tears in his eyes when he departed back in 2009. Taz currently is a co-host of a morning show on CBS Sports Radio, but as we've seen with Jonathan Coachman, we can't rule out a reunion in the future.
