AEW's announce booth will be even more experienced than usual this week as Taz will join the team for next Tuesday's episode of Dark.

AEW has had to meticulously craft its brand to be the right balance of nostalgic acts and new talent. Tip the scales too far one way or the other and the launch of the promotion might not have gone as well as it has done. So far, the company has been treading that trickly line perfectly.

Perhaps the best way AEW has served up a healthy dose of nostalgia is its announce team. It introduced Jim Ross from day one, probably the most iconic and instantly recognizable voice in wrestling history. Upon the launch of Dynamite two weeks ago, legendary WCW announcer Tony Schiavone also joined the booth. The pair of them call the action alongside Excalibur every Wednesday night.

Both Ross and Schiavone are also working on AEW's other weekly show, Dark. The one-hour show features matches from the previous Wednesday that didn't air live on TNT. Schiavone introduces the show and the matches from a studio, while JR and Excalibur call the action at ringside. However, on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, the ringside pairing will be joined by a very special guest. Former WWE and Impact commentator, Taz.

Cody Rhodes revealed the news on Twitter over the weekend. The AEW EVP described Taz as a guest announcer, so perhaps this will be a common occurrence and other commentators will step in depending on the city AEW is running. This Wednesday, Dynamite will air live from Philadelphia. Since that's where the ECW Arena was, and still is, situated, it's the perfect place for Taz to return to the wrestling announce booth.

Even though Taz will be live in-house this coming Wednesday, fans will have to wait a further six days to hear his voice calling the action again for the first time in well over four years. Whether Taz will take up permanent residence with AEW, that seems unlikely. The former ECW Champion has a weekly morning talk show on CBS alongside Marc Malusis, aka The Moose. Hopefully, he will guest star in this way more often though, maybe even every time AEW visits the North East.
