Dean Ambrose shocked everyone when he cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on the very same night that he won it and walked out of last night's MITB pay-per-view as the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

Sure, there were reports that Ambrose was the favorite to win last night's ladder match, but there were also reports that WWE was considering going with Kevin Owens as this year's Mr. Money in the Bank. Ultimately, the match ended with the two men battling atop the ladder, with Ambrose prevailing.

No one really knows why Roman Reigns ended up dropping the WWE World Title in last night's main-event. Some are thinking, and even hoping, that Reigns' Title loss means that WWE is done with the "Roman Reigns experiment" and that they're now going to go with Dean Ambrose as their top guy. While that's possible, it doesn't seem likely.

Tonight's Raw will give us a better idea of what WWE's plans for Ambrose, Reigns, and Rollins are. But, for now, all we can do is speculate. So, what are WWE's plans for Ambrose as Champion? Well, here are possible scenarios / feuds that "The Lunatic Fringe" could be involved in during his run as WWE Champion.

15 15. One-Day Title Reign

via WWE.com
via WWE.com

This would probably be the most unpopular scenario with the fans, especially if he ends up dropping the Title to Roman Reigns after just one day. The scenario is also extremely unlikely. But, Raw is hurting for viewers, so they may just give us a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match on tonight's Raw.

Of course, if WWE were to give us a Title match, it'd have to involve all three former members of The Shield, because two of them - Reigns and Rollins - lost the Title last night, and the former Champion is typically entitled to a rematch. Is a Shield triple-threat match on Raw something that could happen? Sure. Will it? Probably not, but you shouldn't rule it out, especially because, as previously mentioned, Raw's ratings have been steadily falling and a big match like that could get a ton of people watching tonight's show.

14 14. Another Feud With Bray Wyatt

via WWE.com
via WWE.com

Bray Wyatt and The Wyatt Family are supposed to be returning to WWE television soon, and rumor has it that Vince McMahon wants to put Bray in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship picture. Of course, Ambrose and Wyatt have a long history with one another, as they've had a couple of long-term feuds with one another.

Having Bray and Dean battle it out for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship would definitely be something different, because they're certainly not your prototypical WWE main-eventers. But, it's supposedly a new era in WWE, so having something different main-event at the pay-per-views wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing.

Will WWE put Wyatt in the World Title picture upon his return? Probably not. It's more likely that he'll be feuding with someone like the returning Randy Orton. But you shouldn't rule out the possibility that Wyatt will be a World Champion on one of the brands by the end of this year.

13 13. Feud With Randy Orton

via WWE.com
via WWE.com

Randy Orton is coming back soon and you can bet he'll be in the main-event picture, as he usually is. As previously mentioned, Orton will probably be put in a feud with The Wyatt Family upon his return, but he could also end up being in a short-term program with the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

It's unclear if Orton will be a heel or a babyface upon his return. He'll obviously get a huge reaction from the fans when he returns, but, as we've seen with Seth Rollins, just because it makes sense for someone to come back as a babyface, that doesn't mean they will come back as a babyface.

Ambrose vs. Orton for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match could be a television match to help boost Raw or SmackDown's ratings, rather than a long, or even short-term pay-per-view feud.

12 12. Mid-Card Champion

via WWE.com
via WWE.com

WWE has done this several times with guys that they don't really believe in. Former World Champions such as Rey Mysterio and CM Punk were never treated as the top guy during their title reigns, and Ambrose could be put in the same position, while guys like Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, John Cena, and AJ Styles main-event WWE's biggest shows.

Sure, CM Punk and Rey Mysterio were occasionally put in some main-events, but they were typically shows that John Cena wasn't on. Also, unlike when a guy like John Cena or Triple H is holding the title, WWE's weekly television programs weren't build around the Champion when a guy like Punk was Champion.

Will Ambrose be slotted as a mid-card-level WWE World Heavyweight Champion? Probably not, and if he is, it'll be further down the line. But, for right now, it'd be impossible to not build the show around him as Champion, because his title win is probably the biggest story in wrestling at the moment.

11 11. Triple H's Next Opponent

via WWE.com
via WWE.com

Triple H has been off of WWE television since his loss to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 32, which means that he still hasn't gotten his rematch for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. As of right now, there are no immediate plans to put Triple H back into the WWE World Title picture, but that doesn't mean that he won't be coming after the gold at some point in the future.

Ambrose and Triple H had a fantastic match back at WWE Roadblock in March. So, it's clear that the two men have good chemistry in the ring and, in the current era of WWE, it's important to have blow-away main-event matches.

Triple H and Ambrose will probably wrestle again at some point, but "The Game" will probably end up feuding with Seth Rollins when he makes his return. So, a WWE Title feud with Ambrose doesn't seem likely at this point. But, it wouldn't be a bad thing if it happened.

10 10. Feud With AJ Styles / The Club

via WWE.com
via WWE.com

Dean Ambrose vs. AJ Styles is one of many matches that WWE fans are dying to see. We all know that Styles is more than capable of having five-star matches with absolutely anyone and a match with Dean Ambrose would definitely have the potential to be a five-star classic.

Right now, Styles is tied up in a feud with John Cena. But, if Ambrose is still the World Champ after the feud has concluded, then Styles, Gallows, and Anderson could move on to Ambrose.

AJ Styles will be back in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship picture at some point this year and The Club will be right there with him. Who knows? Maybe a WWE World Title feud with Ambrose could lead to Styles winning the gold.

9 9. Rematch With Brock Lesnar

via WWE.com
via WWE.com

Let's be honest, the first, and, at this point, only Brock Lesnar vs. Dean Ambrose match wasn't all that good. It was a Brock Lesnar squash match with a bunch of weapons scattered in the ring.

Lesnar is set to return to WWE later this summer and he's also scheduled to fight Mark Hunt at UFC 200 on July 9th. If Lesnar defeats Hunt, then you can bet that WWE will put him right back into the WWE World Title picture, and if Ambrose is still the Champion when "The Beast" returns, then we could see another Lesnar vs. Ambrose match.

If WWE is planning on making Dean Ambrose the face of the company, and who really knows if they are, then having him face and defeat Lesnar would do a lot for him, especially if Lesnar is coming off of a win at UFC 200. But, WWE could also just decide to have Lesnar squash Ambrose again and become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion, which would probably lead to another Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns match.

8 8. Raw's Top Babyface

via dailyddt.com
via dailyddt.com

The WWE brand-split is coming and it's been reported that Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins will be the faces of Raw. But, is Dean Ambrose' WWE Title win a hint that plans are changing? Only a few people know for sure, but if those plans have changed, then Ambrose could end up being the face of Raw instead of Roman Reigns.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the Dean Ambrose B-loop house shows are drawing just as well, if not better, than the Roman Reigns A-loop house shows, which is something that WWE could be looking at as a sign that Ambrose is way more over than Reigns.

Also, having Reigns as Raw's top babyface could end up being a disaster, especially since the show may not have a guy like John Cena or Brock Lesnar on it. So, it'd be smart for WWE to make Ambrose the face of Monday Night Raw.

7 7. SmackDown's Top Babyface

via WWE.com
via WWE.com

WWE is going to try to make SmackDown an A-level show after the brand-split happens next month, and rumor has it that John Cena and AJ Styles will be the show's top guys. But, as previously mentioned, WWE may be changing their plans due to Roman Reigns' inability to get over with the fans.

WWE's new plans could involve putting Cena on Raw with Roman Reigns, which would open up a spot on SmackDown for someone like Dean Ambrose. Of course, having Ambrose as SmackDown's top babyface would give the show its own identity and it could inject some much-needed life into the program.

Unless something weird happens, Dean Ambrose will be the WWE World Heavyweight Champion when the WWE draft happens on July 19th. So, he'll be carrying the title to whichever brand he ends up on.

6 6. Surpass CM Punk's 434-Day Title Reign

via WWE.com
via WWE.com

CM Punk holds the record for the longest WWE Title reign of the modern era. Of course, Punk is no longer with the company and he's not exactly on the best of terms with them. WWE has already broken his wife's record as the longest reigning WWE Divas Champion and they could be looking to do the same to Punk's record.

If Roman Reigns were to surpass Punk's record, the fans would crap all over him. But, if someone like Ambrose did it, who they respect, then they probably wouldn't mind.

Last year, it looked like WWE may have been trying to break Punk's record with Seth Rollins, but Rollins ended up blowing out his knee. Now they may look to break it with Dean Ambrose.

Right now, the idea of Ambrose breaking Punk's record does seem a bit ridiculous. But, you never know. Maybe WWE is has finally decided to make Dean Ambrose a legit main-event guy.

5 5. Heel Turn

via WWE.com
via WWE.com

There have been rumors of a Dean Ambrose heel turn for over a year now, but it obviously hasn't happened yet. Right now, the fans want to like Seth Rollins, and he certainly has the potential to be the company's top babyface. So, WWE could turn Rollins babyface, which would open up the door for an Ambrose heel turn.

In the past, Ambrose has said that he prefers being a heel. He's also said that he never imagined that he would be a successful babyface. Up until this point, everybody would probably agree that WWE has underutilized Ambrose as a babyface and that a heel turn would freshen him up.

It seems like WWE is dead-set on keeping Roman Reigns as a babyface and an Ambrose / Reigns feud will happen at some point. So, if they're going to turn one of them, it's going to be Dean Ambrose. So, we could be seeing Dean Ambrose as a heel WWE Champion.

4 4. One-On-One With Roman Reigns

via WWE.com
via WWE.com

Ambrose and Reigns have only had one singles match with one another, and that was back at this past year's Survivor Series. But, they could be headed to their second singles match at next month's WWE Battleground show.

WWE undoubtedly wants to do a triple-threat match will all three of the former Shield members and that match could be saved for August's SummerSlam.

Ambrose will probably defend his title in a one-on-one match at Battleground, but the question is, who will it be against? It'll obviously be against either Roman Reigns or Seth Rollins, and we'll probably have a better idea of who it'll be soon.

3 3. One-On-One With Seth Rollins

via WWE.com
via WWE.com

As previously mentioned, Ambrose will probably be going one-on-one with either Rollins or Reigns at Battleground, and if I had to pick who his opponent will be, I'd pick Seth Rollins.

A Rollins vs. Ambrose WWE Title match could setup a triple-threat match between Reigns, Rollins, and Ambrose at SummerSlam if it's executed properly. They could even do a match between Rollins and Ambrose where Reigns is the special guest referee and he lays both men out during the match.

In our opinion, WWE should save the triple-threat match for a big show like SummerSlam, and they should have Ambrose' first title defense be against Seth Rollins at Battleground next month.

2 2. The Face Of The New Era

via WWE.com
via WWE.com

Dean Ambrose has often been compared to Stone Cold Steve Austin. Personally, I don't really see the comparison, but it's out there. Of course, Austin was clearly the face of his generation and, after his WWE Title win at Money in the Bank, Ambrose may become the face of his generation.

WWE is pushing this "new era" slogan, and while Dean Ambrose has been in WWE for a couple of years now, he certainly represents what WWE's new era should be all about. He's fantastic in the ring, he's got a ton of charisma, and he's been able to connect with the fans in a way that guys like Roman Reigns haven't been able to.

If you were to ask me, Dean Ambrose is the most talented former Shield member and WWE should have him be "The Guy" instead of Roman Reigns.

1 1. Roman Reigns vs. Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins

via WWE.com
via WWE.com

Other than a Shield reunion, the most anticipated thing involving Reigns, Ambrose, and Rollins is a triple-threat match. That's obviously what WWE is building to, and the match will probably take place at SummerSlam. Experts and fans have predicting such a match at the biggest show of the summer and it now appears to be what WWE is angling towards. It's been a long-time coming and these three stars have the ability to put on a five-star match together. They have incredible chemistry and they can tear the house down.

As for who will walk out as WWE Champion, well, there's only a few people who know the answer to that question and I'm not one of them. But, I can tell you that whoever wins that match will likely be positioned as the face of the company. So, it'll definitely be an extremely newsworthy match, no matter who walks out of the event with the gold.
