Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has responded to Randy Orton's WrestleMania challenge following his appearance on SmackDown last Friday.

Johnson kicked the show's FOX premiere off alongside Becky Lynch and Baron Corbin, electrifying the crowd with both a "People's Elbow" and a "Rock Bottom."

Orton suggested that the former WWE superstar should face him at next year's WrestleMania ahead of Friday's showpiece event.

"I see you will be at #SmackdownOnFox this Friday. How about you & I have a discussion about who’s the greatest 3rd generation of all time and we answer that question April 5th in Tampa At Wrestlemania 36," he tweeted last week. "A vipers sense of smell is unmatched. I smell what you’re cooking."

The Rock has since responded to the offer, graciously declining and jokingly claiming that he's yet to fully recover from the WrestleMania 20 encounter that saw him take on Evolution way back in 2004.

"U think Bob O Sr & Chief Maivia along with our pops’ Bob Jr & the Soulman ran up and down those roads for decades taking bumps just so we can sell out WM36 so you can RKO my ass thru the earth," he tweeted in response. "My body’s still recovering from that Evolution beatdown you gave me at WM20."

This is not at all surprising. Reports suggested that simply getting Johnson on for the few minutes he was in the ring on Friday was a painstaking process because of his busy schedule. WrestleMania 36 is not out of the question just yet but it's doubtful we'll get to see him in a ring again anytime soon.

Let's Keep Those Fingers Crossed

For now, it doesn't look like The Viper will get his dream match with The Rock but there's still plenty of time to get the Hollywood star to change his mind.

Orton would do well to keep pushing as having Johnson back on WrestleMania will be a huge win for WWE and an even bigger one for the fans.
