21 Seth Rollins is Drafted to SmackDown in the Superstar Shakeup

The career of Seth Rollins has been stalling due to the lack of upward mobility on Raw this past year. Brock Lesnar having a year-long Universal Championship reign meant no one else had a chance to win it. The part-time schedule meant only a handful of wrestlers would even get an opportunity. Rollins is one of the wrestler to suffer from this.

We have seen the former WWE Champion primarily work in tag team and mid-card feuds. However, the standout performance in a gauntlet match on Raw a few weeks ago put him back on the radar as a credible top player. WWE is rumored to want to reward Rollins for all his hard work with a bigger push after WrestleMania. We will most likely see him switch brands in the superstar shakeup and became a top star for SmackDown.

20 Ronda Rousey Challenges Nia Jax

The Raw Women’s Championship match between Nia Jax and Alexa Bliss was considered a surprising choice to many for WrestleMania 34. Sasha Banks and Bayley have been having a great feud that is being restricted to the Women’s WrestleMania Battle Royal. Both ladies were snubbed in favor of a Jax/Bliss singles bout following the Nia face turn.

One reason for this is to get Jax established as a top woman in the division. Ronda Rousey is going to have to get some big wins in the women’s division once she gets past Stephanie McMahon. Jax is being set up as one of the top ladies for Rousey to score a dominant victory over. The fact that Nia has the size and strength advantage will help WWE get Ronda the momentum she needs to become a top draw again.

19 Rey Mysterio returns in full time role

WWE has been in talks with Rey Mysterio since his widely successful surprise appearance in the Royal Rumble match. Mysterio shocked everyone as one of the biggest names to make a surprise one-off entrance in the Rumble. The live crowd and social media reaction each delivered massive success. WWE realized the fans still love Mysterio and have been trying to get him back.

Mysterio still has a lot of spring in his step and has been keeping up with young stars on the independent circuit. Will Ospreay and Ricochet are considered two of the best high-fliers in the world, and Mysterio was able to hang with them in classic matches. WWE is trying hard to bring Rey back to end his career in the company he calls home. Mysterio admits this is his goal and it’s going to happen sooner than later.

18 The Undertaker wins historic battle royal in Saudi Arabia

WWE is trying to present their upcoming April live event in Saudi Arabia as one of the biggest shows of the year. The hope is that the market will grow to bring in more revenue to WWE consistently with the expansion as a global brand. Many major stars are expected to compete in the largest battle royal in WWE history featuring 50 men attempting to eliminate each other.

Daniel Bryan, Braun Strowman and Kane were just a few of the names announced for the battle royal. Dave Meltzer claimed that Undertaker was planning to make the trip for a rare live event match to show the importance of the event. WWE is likely not flying Undertaker out there to get eliminated in a match like that. Given the popularity of his character internationally, expect Undertaker to win the battle royal.

17 A.J. Styles moves over to Raw

AJ Styles is arguably the best wrestler in WWE after signing with the company rather late in his career. Luckily, fans were able to witness the best of Styles so far with classic matches against the likes of Roman Reigns, John Cena and Finn Balor. Styles has been the face of SmackDown since the brand split back in the summer of 2016.

Rumors circulated that AJ was going to switch brands to Raw in the superstar shakeup last year, but WWE held off on those plans. It is once again expected to happen this time around with many of the top stars getting ready to move to the other show for fresh opponents following the superstar shakeup. Styles heading to Raw would allow WWE to play around with teasing some sort of reunion with Balor, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows.

16 Bobby Lashley Destroys Brock Lesnar

WWE is reportedly trying to sign Bobby Lashley to a contract. The return of Lashley would see him return to WWE about a decade later as a significantly better performer. Lashley has been an impressive top star for Impact Wrestling over the past few years to build his momentum to a new high. The MMA career of Lashley in Bellator makes him even more impressive succeeding in both worlds.

Dave Meltzer reported that Lashley has all but confirmed he’s heading back to WWE after WrestleMania by refusing bookings from other promotions. The plan would see Lashley return shortly after WrestleMania 34 to destroy Brock Lesnar in his final match. Lesnar is expected to leave WWE when his contract expires this year. Lashley is likely going to be the one to benefit most from this with a massive win in his return match.

15 Nikki Bella as new SmackDown General Manager

Nikki Bella has not been seen since the women’s Royal Rumble as the last person eliminated by Asuka in the historic match. The love of WWE by Nikki certainly has her always involved. She even worked a non-televised live event teaming with John Cena to beat Elias and Sonya Deville. However, Nikki has her eyes on a return in a non-wrestling role.

An interview late last year saw Nikki reveal she would love to be the SmackDown General Manager if Daniel Bryan was giving up the spot. Bryan returning to the ring full-time means he is no longer going to be the GM in the aftermath of WrestleMania. Nikki has enough power via her relationship with John Cena to get such a valuable spot. The lack of realistic options out there also provide reason WWE will give Nikki the chance to become a General Manager.

14 Johnny Gargano Becoming The New Face of 205 Live

NXT shocked fans when the stipulation of Johnny Gargano leaving the promotion came true at the hands of a loss to Andrade Almas. Gargano will get his chance for revenge against Tommaso Ciampa for costing him the match. TakeOver: New Orleans will see the two compete in an unsanctioned match to end their feud. Gargano losing his match stipulation means it will be his final appearance in NXT.

Triple H receiving control of 205 Live has seen him give new life to the failing show. The show has become more popular in just the past month than it was during the entire time Vince McMahon was running it. It is obvious that Triple H will attempt to add more top talent to the Cruiserweight division. Gargano has been a tremendous success for NXT as a fan favorite. Expect to see him on 205 Live organically becoming the new face of the brand.

13 Bray Wyatt and Matt Hardy become a new tag team

The absence of Bray Wyatt following his “deletion” in the Final Deletion match is leading to a change in his character. WWE has only placed Wyatt on live events following the event where he hugs Matt Hardy despite their prior disputes. It implied that Wyatt will be aligned with Hardy for the time being. A popular belief is that Wyatt returns in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal to help Matt win.

Bray badly needs the help of some momentum after being used horribly over the past year. The rub of working with the beloved Hardy character will see fans give Wyatt another chance. WWE is likely going to make them a fixture in the Raw tag team division following WrestleMania. Both characters play well off each other and it will see them continue working together.

One NXT talent with a bright future on the main roster is Lars Sullivan. The big man has a physique and overall look that stands out in a way that Vince McMahon loves. Sullivan would have been on the fast track to a main roster opportunity during an era of WWE. However, his athleticism helps take to the next level in today’s landscape.

Sullivan has looked good in NXT and is clearly main roster bound sooner than later. The belief is he will be part of the group called up following WrestleMania 34 to get introduced in a relevant way. Sullivan benefitted from being established in NXT but not being overexposed. It will help him out on the main roster with Raw likely being the show for him.

11 Kane officially retires from WWE

Kane has been on WWE television inconsistently for the past few months since returning in October. The veteran is currently attempting to become the next mayor of Knox County. Kane has stated this will be his final stint in wrestling if he indeed wins the election. Either way, he is already 50 years old and is reaching the end of the road.

As the campaign heats up, Kane will have to step away from the ring to commit his time to his new passion. We have likely seen the final run of Kane over the past few months as seen him from working with top level names and even getting a Universal Championship title shot at Royal Rumble. Expect to see the official retirement from Kane shortly after WrestleMania as he heads into his next career.

9 Jeff Hardy getting singles run on SmackDown

As mentioned earlier, Matt Hardy is set to become a tag team partner of Bray Wyatt. That leaves his brother Jeff Hardy without a tag partner when he returns. It will be for the best as WWE loves the idea of Jeff being a singles performer. The return as a tag team saw WWE experiment with Jeff in a big singles match on Raw against The Miz.

News recently broke that Jeff will be cleared to compete likely coming back right after WrestleMania. The likely option is that he will change brands in the superstar shakeup. Jeff will get another chance to return to the top of the main event picture like he did in his prior WWE run. Fans connect with Jeff as a bigger star than Matt meaning he will get the opportunity to branch out on his own.

8 Samoa Joe returns by attacking Roman Reigns on Raw after WrestleMania

The first major storyline to go down after WrestleMania will see Roman Reigns get his first challenger as Universal Champion. Reigns will likely have a great first opponent to start his reign. Samoa Joe is already being advertised in ads for WWE’s live events in April and May against Reigns. This is usually a sign of the combination that will be working together on television as well.

Joe has reportedly been cleared from his recent injury and will return in a major way. The biggest impact will be attacking Reigns in front of a hot crowd on the biggest Raw of the year the night after WrestleMania. Joe coming back against the top face in the company proves WWE does value him as a great heel. Fans can get excited about a great feud between Reigns and Joe starting right after WrestleMania.

7 Big Cass Returns The Night After WrestleMania

Big Cass has been on the injured list since summer. Most fans seem to forget about Cass considering how disappointing he was as a singles star. The break-up of Cass and Enzo was meant to elevate Cass, but it was going poorly leading up to the injury. WWE will have a lot of work to deliver if they want Cass to become a major player in the company.

The return is expected to come the night after WrestleMania. It is always one of the biggest Raw episodes of the years and the returns make a bigger impact. Cass finding a role on the show will be a tough task as he left as a failing heel but achieved more success as a face. WWE will have to plan out a fascinating return to make Cass relevant again.

6 Adam Cole joins main roster

One NXT star with a huge future ahead of him is Adam Cole. The test run of how he would fare against main roster talent took place at the Royal Rumble. Cole was one of just two NXT wrestlers to compete in the men’s Royal Rumble match. Fans reacted overwhelmingly positively with most of them being aware of who he was.

Another great sign for Cole is that he looked great going at it with the stars of the main roster. NXT has positioned him as a main eventer, but he doesn’t have a strong direction right now. It was surprising to see Cole not included in a major singles match, especially for the NXT Championship. The safe money is on him being called up sooner than later as someone that doesn’t need the help to learn more in NXT.

5 Carmella taking MITB to Raw

Carmella is currently in a tough spot on the SmackDown brand. As the first ever women’s Money in the Bank winner, it looked like an obvious scenario that she would cash in to defeat the SmackDown Women’s Champion. However, WWE decided to go the route of having Asuka challenge Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship after winning the Royal Rumble since it is a dream match.

Asuka is likely winning the match to keep her winning streak going. This means Carmella’s time is running out to cash in the briefcase. WWE has reportedly been considering moving Carmella over to Raw in the superstar shakeup to deliver the result of eventually cashing in. Carmella moving to Raw gives her a chance to win the Raw Women’s Championship and have new feuds with different opponents for the first time.

4 Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn heading to Raw

One of the most fascinating matches at WrestleMania 34 will see Daniel Bryan team with Shane McMahon to face Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. The heel team of Owens and Zayn will remain fired from SmackDown if Bryan and Shane can win. Considering Bryan is making his emotional return to the ring after retiring two years ago, it is highly unlikely he’s losing this match.

Owens and Zayn losing this match means they will be exiled from SmackDown going forward. Luckily for them, there happens to be another brand with a heel Commissioner that would love to steal talent from SmackDown. Both Owens and Zayn were rumored to be moving to Raw a few months ago and the timing of this stipulation adds more reason to believe they’ll be heading to the red brand.

3 Ember Moon debuts on SmackDown

The SmackDown women’s division needs some new talent as they move forward following WrestleMania 34. While there are a lot of talented ladies on the blue brand, WWE felt they had to bring Asuka over to give Charlotte Flair a credible opponent for an attraction match. The plethora of six-women tag matches has forced the matchups to grow stale.

One woman ready to get called up from NXT is Ember Moon. The current NXT Women’s Champion was placed into the women’s Royal Rumble match and had a great showdown with Asuka. Considering Asuka is expected to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship, these two stars could bring their rivalry to the big stage. Ember is expected to lose the NXT Women’s Title and get called up shortly after. Expect it to come for SmackDown on the episode after WrestleMania.

2 The Miz moves to SmackDown and starts feud with Daniel Bryan

Daniel Bryan’s return will set up many dream matches against some of the top stars on the main roster. One feud fans want to see as soon as possible. The Miz trashed Bryan and challenged him to hit him back when Bryan was not cleared for physical action in WWE. Both men ran each other down in heated promos on Talking Smack.

The tension between Miz and Bryan was fascinating enough to become the hottest feud on SmackDown. Unfortunately, Bryan not being allowed to wrestle prevented it from happening and Miz was moved to Raw. Now that it can become a reality, Miz moving over to SmackDown seems like a safe bet. There is a lot of money on the table for this match and WWE will try to make it happen in 2018.
