The WWE roster has seen many big changes already this year. Roman Reigns dethroning Brock Lesnar as Universal Championship after multiple attempts has set the tone for the Raw brand moving forward. Smackdown has seen Daniel Bryan return to the ring following his retirement from the ring. The women’s side has seen things shake up as well. Ronda Rousey is now the face of the Raw women’s division as Raw Women’s Champion just months into her career. Smackdown has seen Becky Lynch catch fire with momentum after turning on Charlotte Flair. The first all-women PPV titled Evolution is also on the way for the ladies of WWE to make history. All rosters will be in attendance for the major Super Showdown event in Australia. Basically, a lot is going down in both the male and female divisions for WWE right now.

We will look at the rest of the year when it comes to major events taking place. WWE is trying to create momentum heading into 2019 with WrestleMania 35 in the New York area along with a new television deal on Fox for Smackdown later in the year. 2018 is not just over yet, and everyone in the company wants to end the year on a high note. Many rumors are circulating regarding the future of WWE. Both the women’s division and men’s division on both Raw and Smackdown will be examined when it comes to predicting the future. These are ten things to expect from the WWE women and ten things to expect from the WWE men before 2018 ends.

20 Women: Becky Lynch wins Smackdown Women's Championship

Becky Lynch has the most momentum in WWE right now following her turning on Charlotte Flair at SummerSlam. The fans in attendance and watching at home wanted to see Lynch finally return to the top of the mountain for the first time in almost two years.

Charlotte winning yet again saw the fans side with Becky. Every crowd has overwhelmingly cheered Lynch for her new persona with a bit of an edge demanding what she deserves. WWE will have no choice but to push Becky to the moon. A title reign must be coming her way with the way things are shaking out.

19 Men: The Miz ends AJ Styles' WWE Championship reign

The Miz has become one of the top heels in WWE. No one has taken advantage of the brand split more than Miz over the past two years. The roster splitting in half featured Miz breaking out as a great star for Smackdown after years of irrelevance.

AJ Styles is another star to get to the next level on the brand split. The WWE Championship reign of Styles has been going strong since November of 2017. WWE is already advertising a #1 contender match between Miz and Daniel Bryan at Super Showdown. The Miz’s time appears to be coming as the heel with the most upside to end AJ’s reign.

18 Women: Sasha Banks and Bayley become first-ever WWE Women's Tag Team Champs

The upcoming Evolution event is set to be a historic event for WWE. Sasha Banks and Bayley are hoping to have a major role on the show after missing the main card of WrestleMania and missing Summerslam in its entirety. Both ladies have become a team following months of teasing a split.

Banks and Bayley are currently on the same page heading towards the Evolution PPV. WWE has been rumored to be considering creating Women’s Tag Team Championship belts. The Evolution event is the best scenario for the first champions to be crowned. Bayley and Banks are the best choice for the champs given their prior star power, storyline and the importance of the show.

17 Men: Dean Ambrose turns on Seth Rollins

The reunion of The Shield has seen Universal Champion Roman Reigns, Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins and the returning Dean Ambrose all get back together. WWE fans are excited about seeing what happens with the very popular faction having another run together on Raw.

Last year’s plan was expected to see Ambrose turn on Rollins to start a program between the two. Unfortunately, Ambrose suffered an injury and the plan was canceled. WWE will likely look to start that story again once they’ve done enough to re-establish the bond between the two. Ambrose turning on Rollins before the year ends seems like a safe bet.

16 Women: Lita officially retires with win over Mickie James

Lita has made a few in-ring appearances over the past few years. She has never received a respectful farewell for someone of her star power. WWE attempted to put down Lita at the end of her run as a full-time wrestler back in 2007 in a match against Mickie James.

The duo here will have another chance to send Lita off in the right way. Lita is coming back for one more singles match at Evolution against Mickie to give them both a major spotlight. Many fans were confused as to why Lita didn’t have a match with a newer talent, but the idea here is correcting a mistake with her prior farewell match against James.

15 Men: Jeff Hardy leaves after Swanton Bomb off HIAC

Jeff Hardy will receive an opportunity to live his WWE dream that he’s been discussing for years. Many of Hardy’s interviews during his time in Impact Wrestling saw him reveal he wanted to return to WWE and have a Hell in a Cell match.

Hardy specifically has stated he wants to deliver a Swanton Bomb off the cage at some point before retiring. WWE has recently announced Hardy and Randy Orton would be in the Smackdown Hell in a Cell match above other matches with bigger feuds. This is likely done for Hardy to deliver the stunt. Hardy is reportedly banged up and needs time off. A move like that would certainly write him off for the rest of the year.

14 Women: Shayna Baszler gets called up

Everyone knows about the success of Ronda Rousey on the WWE main roster, but another former UFC talent is thriving for the WWE women’s division as well. Shayna Baszler has had a great run in NXT over the past year following her successful Mae Young Classic run.

The NXT Women’s Championship reign of Baszler saw her dominate most of her opponents. Kairi Sane ended the title reign of Shayna at TakeOver: Brooklyn. Baszler has already perfected her gimmick as the brutal heel fighter. There’s not much more she can do in NXT. Expect Shayna to get called up to the main roster before the year ends.

13 Men: Rey Mysterio returns

Rey Mysterio is arguably the biggest free agent on the market right now. WWE was reminded of the star power of Mysterio when the interest spiked for the Royal Rumble following his surprise appearance. The social media numbers blew up with everyone watching the video of Rey’s Rumble.

WWE has been in talks with Mysterio about a contract all year as Rey continues to work through his schedule of New Japan, All In and the Jericho Cruise. Mysterio is already being advertised as a huge part of the upcoming WWE 2K19 video game. The return of Rey to WWE is coming before 2018 closes.

12 Women: Asuka turns heel on Naomi

Asuka has been a forgotten woman in WWE following the end of her undefeated streak. Many believed the streak would continue running following her Royal Rumble win. The loss to the Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 34 led to Asuka trending down. Two losses to Carmella killed all momentum.

WWE recently brought back Asuka as the tag team partner of Naomi to face the Iiconics. The tag match will take place at Super Showdown. There is speculation that Asuka will turn on Naomi at the event. Smackdown’s women’s division lacks heels with Becky Lynch getting cheered and Carmella moving down in the pecking order. Asuka would be the perfect villain to step up for the blue brand.

11 Men: Drew McIntyre leaves Dolph Ziggler to become singles star

The return of Drew McIntyre on the main roster has seen him aligned with Dolph Ziggler. Both men united to find relevance after being overlooked for years. McIntyre and Ziggler are currently the Raw Tag Team Champions in a faction with Braun Strowman to combat The Shield.

The shelf life for this group is relatively short. McIntyre is clearly bound for a singles push due to the improvements he’s made over the past few years since his first WWE run. The talent of McIntyre can’t be denied. He will likely split up with Ziggler before the year ends to join the main event picture on his own.

10 Women: Ronda Rousey and Nikki Bella main event Evolution

Evolution will see the past, present and future of women’s wrestling on display for the historic WWE event. Ronda Rousey winning the Raw Women’s Championship within five months of her first match proves she is now the face of the division as an attraction.

The rumored plan for Rousey’s big Evolution match would be against Nikki Bella. WWE has already started spotlighting Rousey and Nikki in segments together. The hope is that two of the biggest names in the company will lead to buzz in the main event of the show. There have been polarizing reaction to this match. Many are unhappy with the rumor, but WWE is banking on it creating hype for the show.

9 Men: John Cena returns to Raw

John Cena has been missing from WWE television since defeating Triple H at the Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia. The acting career of Cena is taking off with many relevant roles on his schedule. Cena is returning for a match at Super Showdown, but there are rumors of him coming back to television.

Everyone expects Cena back in time for the major events of Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 35 in 2019. Cena will likely be back before then in December. There are more opponents for him on the Raw brand which makes more sense for his home on WWE television.

8 Women: Trish Stratus impresses enough to continue wrestling

The biggest attraction for WWE Evolution right now is the dream match between the iconic Trish Stratus and today’s top star Alexa Bliss. Stratus returning for a singles match is huge news given it is the first major singles match for her since retiring in 2007.

The recent appearance on Raw saw Trish looking in incredible shape. Between her training for the match and her general passion for yoga, Stratus is still a great athlete. The chances are she will impress enough for WWE to beg her back for more. One more WrestleMania match could see Trish stick around in WWE at the end of the year.

7 Men: Kurt Angle returns for Survivor Series team match against Baron Corbin

Kurt Angle has been off television over the past few weeks following Stephanie McMahon’s decision to send him home. Baron Corbin has become the temporary General Manager of Raw replacing Angle following their tension running Raw.

Reports indicate that Angle has left WWE television to train hard for his next match. The logical match would see Angle and Corbin square off for control of Raw. A singles match seems unlikely, and the timing of Survivor Series coming up can lead to a large team match. The faces representing Angle would likely get the win over Corbin’s heels at Survivor Series.

6 Women: Four Horsewomen vs. Four Horsewomen at Survivor Series

One of the biggest dream matches for the WWE women’s division would be a team match between the Four Horsewomen of NXT vs. the Four Horsewomen of UFC. WWE’s women evolution sparked from the talent of Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch and Bayley changing the game.

UFC fans witnessed the friendship of Ronda Rousey, Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir form their version of the Four Horsewomen. WWE signed all four ladies from the MMA world. Rousey and Baszler are already stars while Duke and Shafir are working live events. Tension between Charlotte and Becky could add another element of fun to the match. Expect it to come at Survivor Series before the year ends.

5 Men: Aleister Black gets called up

Another NXT standout in recent memory is the former NXT Champion Aleister Black. The title reign of Black ended at the hands of Tommaso Ciampa. Black was scheduled to receive a rematch in a triple threat with Ciampa and Johnny Gargano at TakeOver: Brooklyn, but he suffered an injury to write him off.

The character work of Black allowed him to become a huge star for the NXT brand. There were already rumors of him being next in line for the main roster call ups. Black will likely wrestle his next match on either the Raw or Smackdown brand. The timetable for his recovery could see Black back within the next couple of months.

4 Women: Maria Kanellis and Mike Kanellis go down to NXT

The couple of Maria Kanellis and Mike Kanellis have struggled to find relevancy on the main roster. Mike immediately was off television when needing to get help for an addiction to prescription pills. Maria would be removed from television following Mike’s recovery when pregnant with the couple’s first child.

Both members of the couple are fighting to get back on television together now. Maria and Mike are each ready to prove their worth. The couple will likely have to restart in NXT to prove their worth before getting a push on the main roster. Each person has admitted they would gladly accept NXT if it means progression.

3 Men: Cesaro and Sheamus split up

Two wrestlers struggling on the Smackdown brand right now are Sheamus and Cesaro. Both talented wrestlers worked well together as The Bar on the Raw brand. A move to Smackdown in the superstar shakeup allowed them joining the blue brand in April, but they have nothing almost nothing of note since then.

The Smackdown tag team division is loaded. Cesaro and Sheamus still have enough time to have great singles runs if pushed. The potential breakup is coming sooner than later as Smackdown could use some more top singles stars in the upper card. Expect Cesaro and Sheamus to split up and become singles wrestlers before the year ends.

2 Women: Toni Storm wins the Mae Young Classic

The Mae Young Classic recently started for its second consecutive year. Many of the top female wrestlers from all over the world will be competing in the tournament. Triple H’s vision has been a proven success after last year’s tournament dominated the WWE Network numbers.

Toni Storm is a favorite to win the entire tournament this time around. WWE is attempting to expand with the NXT UK promotion brand. Storm is expected to be one of the major stars for the UK shows. She also happens to be one of the best wrestlers in the world. Don’t be surprised if Storm wins the MYC and leads NXT UK.

1 Men: Bobby Lashley turns heel

Bobby Lashley has returned to WWE in disappointing fashion. Many fans fell in love with his work back in Impact Wrestling as a dominant main event heel. Lashley has unfortunately been stuck playing a stale face character with zero momentum.

Horrible programs with Sami Zayn and Elias have seen Lashley fall lower in the pecking order. Lashley will likely have to turn heel to have any chance at success on Raw at the top of the card. The future of Lashley could be saved with one big change. Lashley clearly needs a heel turn for the chance to thrive in WWE this time.
