The 34th annual WrestleMania Pay Per View event took place on April 8th, 2018 in the packed Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. Fans from all across the globe flocked down to witness the greatest showcase of WWE Superstars performing on the grandest stage. WrestleMania is where all the superstars showcase their creative side with various entrances that differ from their standard ones we see every week on the basic Smackdown and Raw shows.

The main event pitted the Universal Champion Brock Lesnar against Roman Reigns in a title match. This is also the first ever WrestleMania where there would be a Women’s Battle Royal where we would be able to witness 20 women from Raw and Smackdown vying for the Battle Royal Trophy. It was also a debut for Ronda Rousey who teamed up with Kurt Angle to face Triple H and Stephanie McMahon in a mix tag team match. Daniel Bryan was also featured after a long injury layoff in a tag team action with Shane McMahon to face the duo of Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.

The Undertaker’s presence was made to be questioned as he had yet to answer John Cena’s plea for a match. This had fans guessing until the very last minute. One thing is for sure, records were broken and fans where set to be thrilled witnessing things they have been begging for. Here are 25 things that you missed on WrestleMania 34

25 Where Are The Male Title Holders From Last Year? Goldberg, Jericho, Neville & Ambrose

via ign.com

This is the first ever WrestleMania which has seen none of the male title holders of the previous WrestleMania return, excluding that special appearance of Bray Wyatt in the Andre the Giant Battle Royal. Superstars such as Neville, Dean Ambrose, Goldberg and even Chris Jericho were not featured in New Orleans. Neville’s Cruiserweight title was held by Cedric Alexander after he won the WWE Cruiserweight Championship Tournament for the vacated title.

Dean Ambrose is out due to his rehabilitation following his tricep surgery which has kept him out for a few more months. WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg has stopped wrestling after he bid farewell to the Raw faithful after his loss to Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 33. But I wouldn’t rule him out forever. The man never seems to know where his future lies, so maybe he might make an appearance or two later on. Chris Jericho was busy sharing his voice with his band Fozzy in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire.

24 Reigns Equals Record For Headlining Wrestlemania

via sportingnews.com

Hulk Hogan has always wowed the WWE crowd for generations with his 'Hulkamania' ways. And it is no surprise to see the man who holds the record for the most consecutive main events in WrestleMania is dressed in yellow and red. Well, that is until the Big Dog, Roman Reigns decided to do something about it. At WrestleMania 34, Roman Reigns would tie Hogan’s record of four consecutive main events with his match against Brock Lesnar. Reigns has faced the likes of Seth Rollins, Triple H and who could exclude his No Holds Barred match up against the Undertaker last year in Orlando, Florida.

There is however some debate over the number of main events Hulk Hogan participated in.

Some say its four and some would argue it’s five, with the fifth being held at WrestleMania 9 where he challenged Yokozuna after the real main event. But as of right now, the record stands at four. There is no doubt that the record will be broken soon considering the run Reigns is making with his WWE career and Vince's feelings toward him.

23 Improved Attendance From WrestleMania 30

via theadvocate.com

The success of any showcase is always based on the fans and supporters who make their way down from all over the world. It was frankly amazing to see an improved attendance in the same venue over the span of the past four years. At WrestleMania 30, the total attendance was 75,167. This year, however, the total attendance in the Mercedes Benz Arena was a whopping 78,133 meaning that there was an increase in 3,000 fans. Maybe they were UFC fans there to see Ronda Rousey perform?!

The fans were clearly not disappointed with the performance of the former UFC star, with Dana White coming down to support the star which he claims to have brought up to fame. Other special guests were John Cena who later had to suit up to face the Undertaker, the returning Daniel Bryan and we can't leave out the youngest Tag Team Champion, Nicholas Cone who clearly had the best WrestleMania moment ever.

22 First WrestleMania To Have More Than 2 Women's Matches

via bleedingcool.com

For the first time in WrestleMania history, there were a grand-total of four matches featuring women. This is a clear attempt for WWE to promote the power of women and it's about time!!! It all started with the first-ever Women’s Battle Royal which was won by Smackdown Live!’s very own Naomi. Then it was time for the Queen to face the streak of Asuka. Sadly for the Japanese superstar, Charlotte Flair made her tap out.

The night was amped up for the next match which to me should have been the main event when The Power Couple of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon faced the team of Kurt Angle and the baddest woman on the planet, Rowdy Ronda Rousey. There was always going to be one winner in this match up with Kurt and Rousey picking up with win after Stephanie tapped out of Rousey’s armbar. And the fourth women's event was for the Raw Women’s Championship which saw Nia Jax destroying Alexa Bliss to be the new women’s champion.

21 Missing Dean Ambrose

via wrestlingrumors.Net

If you realized that there was a lack of drama and excitement in this year’s WrestleMania, it could come down to the fact that the most controversial athlete was nowhere to be found. Dean Ambrose was injured on Monday Night Raw in December and was rushed into surgery to mend his injured tricep which means he will be out of action for the next nine months. This was his first ever exclusion from WrestleMania since his debut in November 2012.

This means that Roman Reigns is the only member of the Shield who has been featured in every WrestleMania since their collective debut.

The Lunatic Fringe was truly missed as some fans felt that the main event featuring Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns wasn’t living up to the standards of the Showcase of the Immortals. There is no doubt that the roof would have been blown off had the eighth Grand Slam Champion been part of the main event. #MaybeNextYear

20 Nia Jax Destroys Alexia Bliss's Dream Record

via wwe.com

Had Alexa Bliss beaten Nia Jax at WrestleMania 34, she would have been the first woman superstar to defend both the Raw and Smackdown Woman’s Titles at WrestleMania. Many would have thought that would be the case, seeing as how Bliss had her own backup plan in the form of Mickie James. Sadly you can't stop Nia Jax, especially after what she went through leading up to this title match.

The amount of torment and embarrassment Nia Jax had to go through with regards to her body size was used to motivate the new Raw Woman’s Champion as she took out Mickie James, eliminating her as a possible distraction to the title match before taking Alexa Bliss on her shoulder and delivering an Avalanche Samoa Drop. This sent an important message to everyone watching not to ever ever ever body shame anyone... ever!

19 Youngest Ever Tag Team Champion Nicholas Cone

via newsweek.com

Braun Strowman was on a search for a tag team partner to face the Bar for the Raw Tag Team Championship belts, however, no one backstage even wanted to team up with the 385lbs monster. Strowman took to the fans in search of his tag team partner and selected a timid young boy in a grey WrestleMania sweater and sweatpants named Nicholas. Braun Strowman as we all know, never needed any help from the 10-year-old Nicholas until the very last moment where Strowman tagged Nicholas in for a mere breather before asking for a tag back into the frame.

Strowman caught Cesaro on the fly and power-slammed him down on the apron and pinned him. With that win, Nicholas officially becomes the youngest tag team champion in WWE history. Fun Fact about Nicholas - his name is Nicholas Cone and he's the  son of WWE referee John Cone. Hopefully this will be the start of a fantastic relationship between Nicholas and the WWE. All will be revealed in time, watch this space.

18 First Ever Women's Battle Royal At WrestleMania Won By Naomi

via wwe.com

Naomi won the first ever Women’s Battle Royal at WrestleMania 34 and she did it with some style if I do say so myself. As  Sasha Banks and Bayley teamed up to eliminate the Riot Squad and Natalya, no one really noticed that Naomi wasn’t eliminated. Both Banks and Bayley initially thought that they were the only two contenders left and as Banks reached out to give Bayley a handshake after what the two had accomplished in that ring that night. Bayley shook the hands of Banks just to quickly eliminate The Boss.

Bayley started jumping for joy under the impression that she had won the Battle Royal, just to be interrupted by the sight of Naomi right behind her.

Bayley ran towards her just to be connected by a Rear View by Naomi and then flung out of the ring giving the Smackdown Live! Superstar the official title as the first Women’s Battle Royal winner. Get it Girl!

17 Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal Returns Home - The Birthplace Of The ATG Battle Royal

Via WWEWrestlingNetwork.com

The Andre The Giant Battle Royal returns to its roots as the trophy is brought back to when the Battle Royal first began in April 2014 at WrestleMania 30. At the time, Cesaro eliminated the Big Show with a similar body slam to that which Hulk Hogan delivered to Andre at WrestleMania 3, to win the first every Andre the Giant Battle Royal. The other winners from the past have included the Big Show, Baron Corbin and Mojo Rawley. Fast forward four years and “Woken” Matt Hardy got a wonderful assist from Bray Wyatt in his victory against 29 other competitors.

Hardy was left helpless against Mojo Rawley and Baron Corbin when suddenly Wyatt turned up in the ring to assist Hardy in eliminating both Rawley and Corbin therefore making them obsolete.  Therefore bestowing Hardy the title of winner and the rightful ruler of the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal trophy.

16 Nita Strauss Appears At WrestleMania 34 To Perform For Shinsuke Nakamura

via cagesideseats.com

We have spoken a lot about entrances and just how essential they are for WrestleMania. Another entrance that everyone should look at would be that of Shinsuke Nakamura. In his match up against AJ Styles, Nakamura’s entrance began with a guitar solo exhibition by Nita Strauss with the blue spotlights shining down onto her as she dazzled the crowd with her guitar skills leading to the intro chords of Nakamura’s entrance theme.

As the theme (The Rising Sun) began, kids dressed in red each with a violin started playing the chords to that all too familiar tune as the superstar made his way down to the ring. If only I could use the same sentiments echoed in his performance in the ring as Nakamura delivered a disgusting low blow on the eventual winner of the match up together with a Kinshasa on the floor as he begins to turn heel.

15 Daniel Bryan's First Match In 2 Full Years

via sbnation.com

They said his career was over. But after 2 years - with the loving support of his undying fans and loving wife - Daniel Bryan overcame all odds and showed the world what hard work and dedication can truly produce as he recovered from his injured neck to make a mark on WrestleMania 34. Daniel Bryan teamed up with Shane McMahon to face the fired duo of Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn in a match that would seal the fate of the latter duo. The match started off with a cheap attack on Bryan from Owens and Zayn which left him motionless at the side of the ring. Shane was left to face them alone as Bryan received the medical attention from the sidelines. Shane was able to get a break after laying a right hand on Owens which saw him drop to the mat outside of the ring.

Shane was able to perform a Coast to Coast on Zayn but he couldn’t get the 3 count as Owens interrupted the count. Owens frog splashed Shane and followed it up with a cover and to the jubilation of the crowd, Daniel Bryan popped up into the ring to push Owens off Shane. And with that the tide of the entire match up changed in favour of the returning superstar. With the odds all evened out, Daniel Bryan was the vital figure with a running knee to Zayn and putting him into a Yes! Lock that saw Zayn tap out and keep the himself and Owens out of Smackdown Live!

14 Undertaker Makes It 17 Consecutive Years Of WrestleMania

via wwe.com

After weeks of pestering the Deadman, John Cena finally got his answer on the night itself. After a mix-up with the referees and an altercation with Elias, a dejected John Cena was making his way back stage when suddenly…The lights are flicked off, the customary dong which gets every child to hide behind daddy and the lightning  strikes the ring... Ladies and gentlemen the Undertaker made it to his 17 consecutive WrestleMania event.

There were many doubts over his arrival, but as we all know, WrestleMania isn’t WrestleMania without the Deadman.

A shaken John Cena was clearly not ready to face the phenomenon as he was torn apart and put through the ring literally following a Tombstone pile driver after just 165 seconds. That is the quickest match-up featuring the Undertaker in WrestleMania history with the second quickest being that 5 minutes demolition of Jimmy Snuka in 1991.

13 Triple H Leads The Record For Most Losses At WrestleMania

via independent.co.uk

It is a record no superstar would want to be acknowledged for, yet someone has to be labelled for it someday. As Stephanie McMahon tapped for mercy after the arm bar lock from Rhonda Rousey, it signalled a loss for the power couple and an unwanted record for the man who has taken part in 22 WrestleMania events over the duration of his career. Triple H now holds the record for most losses in WrestleMania history with a total number of 13 losses.

As humiliating as that record sounds, nothing can diminish the fact that The Game has gone up against the greatest to ever step into the ring from the like of the Ultimate Warrior, Chris Benoit, Randy Orton, Daniel Bryan and lets not forget the deadman, The Undertaker. Oh and he lost to all of them. PSYCH!

12 Charlotte Flair’s Incredible Roman Entrance Like Triple H

via wwe.com

As the entrance music of a legend Ric Flair echoed its way around the Mercedes-Benz Arena in New Orleans, it was greeted by the bright colour of gold as the Women’s Smackdown Champion Charlotte Flair made her way down towards the ring escorted by Roman centurions with their imperial gallic helmets. It felt so fitting as Charlotte nicknamed the Queen, expressed herself as one with her robe bedazzled in gold diamonds. Midway through the entrance, as she completed her elegant twirl, the entire arena’s lights went out followed by the Charlotte’s original entrance theme with the blue colours and her theme song from CFO$ - Recognition.

It was an entrance that would easily be a contender for the Best Entrance Of The Night.

It had glamour, prestige and most importantly a great sense of flair. It also looked a lot like the Triple H WrestlMania entrance that she was actually a part of. How the tables have turned!

11 Mick Foley Makes Guest Appearance With Breezango

via EWrestling.com

After the U.S. Championship match up, Mick Foley turned up backstage with his puffy hair and wearing his signature plaid with sweatpants. This certainly was going down well with the Breezango police team, well just one side of that team. Fandango was pointing out flaws in Foley’s dress sense and how it was not suitable or should I say it was a crime against fashion to be out and about with that "outfit."

Fandango instructed Tyler Breeze to arrest Foley for multiple crimes of fashion but Breeze just couldn't do it, simply because he loves that look. Breeze would later remove his coat to show himself in a plaid top to the horror of Fandango and the joy and approval of the WWE legend Foley. Nothing like some laughter to liven up the mood especially when the next match has got so much hate!

10 Jinder Mahal Takes A Title Away From Randy Orton Again

via WWE.com

The modern day Maharaja Jinder Mahal, has certainly made his mark on WWE and even more so on the viper, Randy Orton. Before their U.S Championship match, Mahal had already had pinned Orton during their WWE Championship match at Backlash in May last year, making Jinder Mahal the new WWE Champion and the first of Indian descent.

And to the surprise of many, history would repeat itself as Mahal would get an assist from Sunil Singh during the match up and perform the Khallas on Rusev for the 1,2,3. This would be the second time that the modern day Maharaja would have taken a belt off Randy Orton.

9 Japanese Commentator Funaki

via Twitter.com

No one can forget Shoichi Funaki and his influence on the WWE Universe in 1998, and it was a pleasure seeing him back in the WWE frame as he was introduced as the Japanese commentator during the U.S Championship Matchup. Funaki will always be remembered along with another Japanese  - the wrestler Taka Michinoku. The two of them would usually be used for comedic purpose e.g. Taka would have a lot to say with a mic which would clearly be dubbed in English and after he had said his piece, he would hand over the mic to Funaki who would end it with an strong response of “INDEED.”

Funaki would be on a quest for Singles gold in 2004, where he defeated Spike Dudley in Armageddon for the Cruiserweight Championship. He would later successfully defend the championship against the likes of Spike, Akio and Nunzio in the later months. However at No Way Out 2005, Funaki would lose his championship against Chavo Guerrero in a six-man Cruiserweight Open match.

8 Bobby Roodes' First Ever WrestleMania

via WWE.com

The man who has made a name for himself by winning everything at Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) has finally made his debut on the grandest stage of wrestling history - WrestleMania. The Glorious was sharing how he chose to get to bed early that night but he couldn’t because of how excited he was to be part of WWE history. Rhodes signed with WWE NXT in 2016 where he climbed the ladder of success to become the oldest NXT Champion in January 2017 after he defeated Shinsuke Nakamura in NXT TakeOver.

He made his mark on the WWE Universe by beating Baron Corbin and Dolph Ziggler in a tripe-threat match at Clash of Champions in December 2017 and becoming the new United States Champion. After an exchange of titles, The Glorious Bobby Rhodes was faced against Rusev, Jinder Mahal and the champion Randy Orton in a fatal four-way match at WrestleMania 34. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to retain his title as the Maharaja AKA Jinder Mahal executed the Khallas on Rusev to win his first U.S Championship.

7 Ronda Rousey Pays Homage To Rowdy Roddy Piper

via newshub.co.nz

From a veteran who is participating in her first WrestleMania to the UFC greatest that left the world of the octagon to compete in the four sided ring. Rhonda Rousey took in the atmosphere that greeted her in the Mercedes Benz arena as she paid homage to the great Rowdy Roddy Piper with her outfit and colour scheme of her entrance.

There was no need for Vaseline or the customary checks on nails, it felt more like a stroll for Rousey and she walked towards the ring with a beaming smile on her face followed by a couple of Hi-5s with the fans before climbing up the steps to ring with her former employers watching. Welcome to WrestleMania Dana White! The “baddest woman on the planet” was tagging with the Olympic Gold medalist Kurt Angle to face the most powerful couple in the WWE in the form of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon

6 Triple H & Stephanie’s Entrance Takes Centre Stage

via WWE.com

Triple H was always known for bringing out the best in himself both in the ring and outside of it. But during WrestleMania 34, he had his wife, Stephanie McMahon, to assist him in creating an entrance that would live in everyone's memory for a long long time. Both superstars came up to the ring on their Harley Davidson bikes as “The Game” by Motorhead played over a packed WrestleMania arena.

They were escorted by four more riders to create an entrance fit for a God and his Goddess. It was so epic and very powerful that it sent chills down the spine of everyone watching. The couple are no strangers to grand entrances on the biggest stage but for Stephanie, this was her first WrestleMania match and I have to admit that she performed extremely well both on the bike and in the ring.
