Following SummerSlam, WWE is looking to provide some exciting content for the fans for the rest of 2018, having their eyes set on the “Road to WrestleMania” which begins with the turn of the new year. Both Raw and SmackDown rosters are currently packed, and going by how some of the superstars are being booked, WWE is dropping clues as to what's going to go down soon.

The likes of Roman Reigns and AJ Styles might be proving themselves to be dominant champions, but the superstars just below them on the pecking order also seem to have big things in line for them. There also seems to be even more buzz surrounding NXT, which is better than ever, with the future looking bright for WWE’s third brand. With rumors circulating all the time about what can be expected from WWE programming throughout WrestleMania 35, there seems to be some pretty interesting storylines in store, along with some unpopular rumors which are sure to upset the fans.

While many things might be rumored to take place before WrestleMania 35, we're here to separate what's more likely to take place, and what's simply fantasy.

25 Will Happen: Kurt Angle Is Fired As Raw General Manager

via pinterest.com

It seems as if Kurt Angle’s glorious run as the successful General Manager of Raw is finally coming to an end, and despite being a highly popular authority figure, Angle’s character is getting a bit stale. The Olympic Gold Medalist was given a storyline vacation, but he is expected to come back soon.

A match between Angle and Baron Corbin looks likely, as everything is pointing towards him being relieved of his GM duties.

There are rumors of WWE wanting Angle to feature as a part-time wrestler rather than an authority figure. Angle is expected to wrestle at the big four PPVs from now on, meaning that he’ll have to sacrifice his role as GM.

24 Won’t Happen: Samoa Joe Wins The WWE Championship

via wwe.com

Samoa Joe has been entangled in a deeply personal rivalry with AJ Styles over the past few months now and after a crazy match at SummerSlam, both proved just how well they work alongside each other. Joe has been gunning for a big championship on the main roster for more than a year now, and after failing to win the Universal Championship, he’s going for the WWE Championship.

But it doesn’t seem like WWE is going to give him the opportunity to become WWE Champion anytime soon, as he’s scheduled to lose his feud against Styles. WWE is currently booking The Phenomenal One strongly as he’s the cover star of WWE 2k19, which means Joe winning the WWE Championship is only a distant dream.

23 Will Happen: Andrade “Cien” Almas Feuds Against The Returning Rey Mysterio

via wwe.com

Rey Mysterio is all set to make a stunning return to competition in WWE after it was rumored that he had signed a two-year deal to perform as a full-timer for them. After impressing at the Royal Rumble match and Greatest Royal Rumble PPV, Mysterio convinced WWE he still had the ability to dazzle, and he’ll probably return within the next few months.

The high-flying luchador will likely be put on SmackDown, as he is rumored to feud against Andrade “Cien” Almas.

The feud can really help Almas get over with the fans and also help SmackDown with some awesome matches which seem to be in store for the fans.

22 Won’t Happen: Batista Returns For Final Run

via independent.co.uk

Batista has been very vocal about wanting to return to WWE, as he’s stated in many interviews about how much he misses wrestling and wants one last run before retiring for good. Batista was allegedly contacted by WWE to be Ronda Rousey’s partner at WrestleMania earlier this year, but that didn’t end up happening.

While Batista himself is interested in returning to WWE to have a final angle with Triple H, WWE doesn’t seem to be interested in bringing back The Animal. Be it some heat between the two or WWE being bitter about Batista abruptly leaving them last time, it doesn’t seem WWE will bring him back in time for WrestleMania 35 and grant him his wish.

21 Will Happen: A Ronda Rousey Vs Natalya Feud

via PopCulture.com

It hasn’t taken much time for Ronda Rousey to rise to the top of the WWE Women’s Division. Having emphatically defeated Alexa Bliss for the Raw Women’s Championship, she asserted herself as the top star in WWE Women’s Division.

While Rousey seems to be in for a lengthy reign with the championship, it looks as if she will feud against her “best friend” Natalya soon.

While WWE can’t make Natalya turn heel right now, they will definitely do it in the near future to make for a personal feud between the two. Doing an angle against Natalya can really help Rousey’s career and help show a different side to her, which can get her even more over with the fans.

20 Won’t Happen: Dean Ambrose Turns Heel

via bleacherreport.com

Dean Ambrose has returned with a whole new look ever since coming to Seth Rollins’ aid prior to SummerSlam. While it was rumored that Ambrose will return as a heel, he’s still very much a babyface. The Lunatic Fringe has reunited with his brothers, as The Shield looks to take on anybody who stands in their way.

While many fans have been wanting Ambrose to turn heel on Rollins or Reigns, it just doesn’t seem to be in the picture for a while.

WWE is too invested in booking Ambrose as this edgy babyface and it’s because of how over he is that they won’t take the risk of turning him heel anytime soon.

19 Will Happen: Drew McIntyre Pushed Into Universal Championship Scene

via wwe.com

Drew McIntyre has looked like a real unstoppable force on Monday Night Raw ever since returning on the night after WrestleMania 34 and aligning himself with Dolph Ziggler. McIntyre has destroyed many opponents in his path and while he won the Raw Tag Team Championships with Ziggler recently, McIntyre is in line for an even bigger push before WrestleMania 35.

According to rumors, WWE officials are really high on McIntyre and are planning to push him into the Universal Championship scene.

While it remains to be seen whether McIntyre can actually win the title or not, an angle with Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship will further improve McIntyre’s reputation in WWE and prove how far he’s come over the years.

18 Won’t Happen: The Undisputed Era Take Over The Main Roster

via 24wrestling.com

The Undisputed Era has to be the best stable in WWE right now. After dominating NXT, they have really won over a number of fans. The Undisputed Era’s demeanor has wowed many fans and after winning so much gold in NXT, it seems like they’re ready for a main-roster push.

With a proper stable required to stand toe to toe with The Shield, the cunning Undisputed Era are perfect to be pushed as the next big stable. But knowing Triple H’s fondness of them and fear of how Vince McMahon will treat them, the Undisputed Era won’t debut on the main roster anytime soon and continue to dominate NXT for the foreseeable future.

17 Will Happen: Daniel Bryan Becomes WWE Champion

via stillrealtous.com

Daniel Bryan has reasserted himself as one of the top guys in WWE, as he doesn’t seem to have lost a step and looks fit as ever on SmackDown. Bryan is still the most over guy on the blue brand and despite being part of a heated feud with The Miz, he looks set to win the WWE Championship down the line.

According to rumors, there are currently plans set for Bryan to win the WWE Championship at Royal Rumble or WrestleMania 35. It will most likely be at Royal Rumble where he thwarts AJ Styles to win the belt. WWE seems to be impressed enough to make Bryan a top-tier champion once again.

16 Won’t Happen: Braun Strowman Wins The Universal Championship

via sportingnews.com

Braun Strowman surprised many by turning heel recently, as he’s aligned himself with Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre to have as protection against The Shield. Strowman has had a fantastic 2018 in WWE, winning the Money in the Bank contract as well as the Greatest Royal Rumble event. But the heel turn will deter his momentum and the way he’s been booked prior to Hell in a Cell, he is expected to lose the Hell in the Cell match against Roman Reigns.

Strowman might still be booked strongly by WWE even if he cannot overcome Reigns, but it doesn’t seem like WWE is ready to make him Universal Champion and will continue to make him win feuds which don’t involve the Universal title.

15 Will Happen: The Women’s Tag Team Division Starts Taking Shape

via cagesideseats.com

WWE proved their high ambitions for the future of Women’s Wrestling by announcing the Evolution PPV recently, but it seems like bigger things are in place for the female stars of the company.

According to rumors, there are plans to introduce even more Championships to the Women’s Division, including tag team championships and possibility a secondary title. WWE is already forming many female tag teams on both Smackdown and Raw and it seems likely that a proper tag team division is being set up. The future looks bright for the women in WWE and with the possible introduction of female tag teams and titles in the next few months, things could get even more entertaining for the fans.

14 Will Happen: Bray Wyatt Receives Big Singles Push

via stillrealtous.com

Ever since losing their Tag Team Titles and peculiar feud to the B-Team, the crazy team of Bray Wyatt and “Broken” Matt Hardy have disappeared from WWE television. Hardy has apparently decided to take a step away from the ring after dealing with nagging injuries, meaning that WWE needs to come up with something new for Bray.

If rumors are to be believed, then WWE is keeping Bray off TV to hype up his return. Wyatt is expected to receive a big singles push after returning with a refreshed version of his gimmick. Maybe we could see a Bray Wyatt-Braun Strowman feud in the future, but it seems like WWE still has confidence in Wyatt to give him a proper push soon.

13 Won’t Happen: Shawn Michaels Returns For “One More Match”

via wwe.com

WWE got many people talking when they teased “one more match” for Shawn Michaels on a recent episode of Monday Night Raw. The taunts by The Undertaker made it feel like they might be planning a match between them in the near future, possibly at Super Show-Down or WrestleMania 35.

While Michaels is scheduled to appear at WWE Super Showdown in October, it doesn’t seem likely that he’ll return. Michaels has stayed true to his word and just does not want to return to wrestling. He is, in fact, helping produce matches on NXT and seems to be satisfied with helping to make that product better, but that "one more match" dream for HBK fans will remain a fantasy.

12 Will Happen: The Rock Wins The Royal Rumble

via vogue.com

The Rock seems to be a hot topic in the wrestling world right now as there are numerous rumors flying around about him being available to work WrestleMania season. Apparently, The Rock is keen on working both the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania events for WWE, who are planning big things for him.

The plans involve making The Rock win the Royal Rumble match next year, allowing him to challenge Roman Reigns for the Universal Title at Mania. This will definitely happen if The Rock gives his green light before the event. Despite pushing a “part-timer” ahead of more deserving talents leading to displeasure among fans, WWE won’t care as The Rock’s success can have a really positive impact on their own image.

11 Won’t Happen: 205 Live MergesWith NXT

via comicbook.com

205 Live has finally gained some momentum ever since Triple H took over its helm and the exciting matches and better storylines are helping to gain the interest of fans. While Triple H has done his best at improving the 205 Live roster by adding former NXT stars Buddy Murphy and Lio Rush, he’s also hinted at wanting to merge 205 Live with NXT.

Triple H considers NXT as WWE’s “third brand” and wants the Cruiserweights to feature on NXT, where they have a better scope. While this seems really ambitious, it won’t happen as Vince McMahon won’t allow 205 Live’s slot to be taken away from the network or for the Cruiserweights to compete with the bigger NXT stars.

10 Will Happen: The Authors Of Pain Win The Raw Tag Team Championships

via wwe.com

The Authors of Pain might have been victims of some very poor booking on the main roster, but it seems like the insertion of Drake Maverick as their manager is the sign of good things to come for them. AOP looks to be the same destructive machine they were in NXT right now and with a charismatic manager like Maverick at their side, they will receive that “edge” they needed to shine through. It feels like AOP will finally win the Raw Tag Team Championships somewhere down the year and retain their monster-like reputation. WWE officials seem to have finally bought in AOP’s ability and with the tag titles changing like hot cake, it’s only inevitable that AOP wins it sooner rather than later.

9 Won’t Happen: The Revival Win The Tag Team Titles

via ringthedamnbell.wordpress.com

The Revival looked all set to win the Raw Tag Team Titles from the B-Team but were robbed of their opportunity to do so when Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler ambushed them prior to their Raw Tag Team titles match. The Revival had even defeated Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel in singles competition, which made it seem like they were on course to win their first titles on the main roster.

WWE officials just don’t seem to have enough trust on Dash and Dawson and have delayed their push once again.

The Revival hasn’t been able to impress the WWE officials on the main roster, and it seems unlikely for them to win the Raw Tag Team Titles in the near future.

8 Will Happen: Asuka Turns Heel

via thesportsdaily.com

Asuka has seemingly fallen into obscurity after some disappointing losses to Carmella during their feud for the Smackdown Women’s Championship and it seems like WWE has lost their faith in her. Asuka’s babyface gimmick isn’t working at all.

This calls for a heel turn for the Empress of Tomorrow and knowing how well she did as a heel in NXT, it could be best for business.

Asuka can play a cocky, dominant heel to perfection and can find her rhythm, as a title reign could be in store for Asuka if she can succeed as a charismatic heel.

7 Won’t Happen: The Women Main-Eventing A Major PPV

via wwe.com

The Women’s Revolution is in full effect in WWE, which is doing its best to promote the women equally to the men in terms of wrestling. While they’ve succeeded in getting the fans more interested in Women’s Wrestling, it doesn’t seem like WWE is ready to push some of its top female stars as well as the top males.

While they have let the women main-event some PPVs in the past, it’s highly doubtful that we’ll see them main-eventing a major PPV like Survivor Series or WrestleMania. Despite having the mainstream power of Ronda Rousey, WWE is booking things for the men to dominate the main-event scene till WrestleMania.

6 Will Happen: Daniel Bryan And The Miz’s Feud Stretches Till The New Year

via pinterest.com

Daniel Bryan and The Miz’s feud has slowly started to become the attraction point of Smackdown Live and it’s best of how much the fans are invested in this story which makes it so great. While The Miz might’ve gotten the upper-hand over Bryan with a sneaky win at SummerSlam, this rivalry is far from over and will stretch on for the next few months.

There will definitely be another match between the two after Hell in a Cell and this rivalry will be the driving force of Smackdown for the rest of the year. It’s because of how well these two work alongside each other which has encouraged WWE to book them in a lengthy rivalry which can entice the fans.
