15 Midnight Workouts

During the road to WrestleMania, The Game usually inserts himself into WWE storylines and takes part in the in-ring action. This year’s no different as he’s set to take part in a marquee matchup featuring himself, his wife Stephanie, Kurt Angle and Ronda Rousey. He makes it a purpose to get in terrific shape every year giving fans a great sense of nostalgia. This year is no different, however, what’s truly baffling and ridiculous is the fact that he trains in wee hours of the night, at midnight.

Both Triple H and his trainer Joe DeFranco admitted that Hunter starts his workouts anywhere between 11 PM to midnight. He even coined the hashtag, “Midnightworkout” via Instagram and Twitter. Take a second to think about what you’re doing at midnight? Probably not working out...

14 Insane Weights For Reps On Chest Movements

via twitter.com

So it’s one thing to use a heavy weight but it’s an entirely different thing to use that weight and hit some serious reps with it. It’s ridiculous to see how heavy Triple H goes while hitting reps we can only dream of. Let’s take his flat dumbbell press as an example, he uses 120 pound dumbbells. Even an experienced trainee with some serious strength can likely hit that weight for maybe four to eight reps. As for Hunter, we’ve seen him hit that weight for a remarkable 22 reps! Yea, he’s a freak.

His other crazy lifting numbers for reps includes a 26 rep range for 100 pound dumbbells on the incline. Not to mention throwing around 275 on the bench for 16 reps and repeating that sequence for lots of sets. In terms of his chest strength, he’s every bros dream.

13 Cuts Out Carbs Completely During WrestleMania Prep

When it comes to dropping body fat, opinions tend to vary. The likes of Elias and Mandy Rose manage to maintain lower levels of body fat while consuming carbohydrates. However, others like Finn Balor, Seth Rollins and The Game himself prefer to take the other route by depleting carbs and opting for fats and proteins.

Hunter, however, takes things a step further completely depleting his carbs and the worst part is, he chooses to take that route. Triple H loves Keto diets, which basically restricts carbohydrates to absolutely nothing. Just imagine living a busy life like Hunter and undergoing such rigorous workouts while hardly consuming any carbohydrates. And oh, he’s also prepping for an in-ring return at WrestleMania at the same time. Oh the things he does to stay healthy!

12 Hired A Training Coach That Lives An Hour & A Half Away

The Game wants the absolute best for his physique. He was all about bodybuilding for a long time, however, when his body could no longer sustain such workouts; he was forced to look for other options. Not only was his body image important but the functional movements of the body was his prime importance. For that reason, he searched for the best functional trainer out there and stumbled upon Joe DeFranco.

He met The Game at his house and Hunter requested a trainer under DeFranco's company guide him through workouts. Ultimately, DeFranco wanted the absolute best for The Game so he decided to train Hunter, despite the fact that he drives an hour and a half to see him. One can only imagine how much Hunter's paying him to get such services. It’s pretty ridiculous but you have to respect how deep he's willing to dig in order to improve his physique.

11 Hired A Coach Specifically For Nutrition

via topropepress.com

Okay, you can understand Trips wanting a bit of motivation for his workouts along with some guidance given the fact that he completely switched styles. However, some would call it over-kill to hire a coach specifically for nutrition. One can only imagine how much cash Triple H's spending for the well-being of his physique.

His nutrition coach is a popular figure in the world of bodybuilding, Dave Palumbo (and one that likely doesn't come cheap). He designs Hunter's diet plan along with his lengthy supplementation program plan as well. The two not only work together during WrestleMania season but Dave provides Hunter with diet plans year round, even during his bulking phase during the winter and post-WrestleMania days. Looks like he's got all his angles covered from the training program to the diet plan.

10 Built A Gym In His Basement

via twitter.com

Okay, this one isn’t as ridiculous at The Rock who travels with a gym, though if he was on the road and away long enough, perhaps Hunter would opt for the same route as the Great One. Instead, Triple H made a full gym in his basement, giving him access to staying fit whenever he's home. Hunter could have easily opted to train in a gym setting while on the road or heck, even when he's at the Performance Center. Instead, following shows or days in Orlando, he heads back home on a private jet and hits up a workout in his own gym, even if it's midnight. Oh the things he does to stay healthy!

Don't expect to see Trips at any commercial gym given the fact that his home gym has just about everything you need.

9 Hates Eating Cheat Meals During Rigorous Diets

When you're depriving the body of nutrients, cheat meals become that much more essential. If you over diet, the body can become flat resulting in the loss of muscle. So with that being said, you'd think Hunter was smoking those cheat meals during his Mania prep, however, according to his nutrition coach, that's not exactly the case.

According to Dave Palumbo, when it's time to up the carbs Hunter isn’t the biggest fan of the increase and change to his diet. Instead, he prefers to eat the least amount of carbohydrates possible. You would figure he was on his hands and knees begging for the meal, but no, he's the total opposite and his coach basically has to force feed the extra amount of calories.

8 Outrageous Conditioning Levels

You see those abs in the picture above. That's a result of hard work in the kitchen, but also, elevated conditioning levels inside of his basement gym. In order to get shredded, not only does your diet need to be on par with a caloric deficit but in order to reach an effective amount of leanness, you need to be hitting the treadmill or whatever cardio machine quite intensely.

Hunter switches it up his cardio philosophy whether it's using a piece of cardio equipment or even taking part in boxing sessions, similar to his brother-in-law Shane who lost a lot of weight using the conditioning tactic. Not only that, Triple H's type of workouts also help to burn an insane amount. His conditioning levels aren’t like the average human that's for darn sure!

7 Intense Circuit Training

Triple H doesn't enter the gym hitting four sets of bicep curls for bodybuilding type reps. Oh no. His workouts are a lot more rigorous featuring a grueling circuit type of training. In case you didn't know, circuit training basically allows you to hit four to six exercises consecutively while taking a couple of seconds between each exercises. Now imagine hitting that type of circuit four times. Yup, that's what Hunter's doing on the regular. We can bet more than half of the WWE locker room isn’t going that intense.

From drop sets to slow tempo movements, The Game's activating the muscle on the regular. He recently posted some of his tough workouts which includes a combo sled drag and farmer walk... yikes!

6 Pre-Preps Meals Even When He's Not Cutting For WrestleMania

So one would think that Triple H goes all-in for 12 weeks and then after WrestleMania, he eases up on the diet and training. Now that's partially true due to the calorie increase, however, he's still pre-prepping meals for a different goal and that's to fulfill the amount of calories his body needs in order to grow. So basically, he's staying healthy year round while consuming insane amounts of calories during his post-WrestleMania days, it ain't easy!

Hunter posted this photo showing his off-season diet which includes lots of carbohydrates along with large amounts of protein. The food looks as though it can last the regular human a week but according to The Game, that was his food for the next three days... Yup, if you thought getting lean was hard, adding muscle is just as difficult in terms of the diet aspect.

5 Rigorous Functional Endurance Workouts With Lack Of Carbs

Performing the types of workouts that Triple H undergoes every night isn’t the easiest. Now try to imagine doing so with a lack of carbohydrate intake. Carbs basically provide energy to the body and when you're undergoing such rigorous activity, the body needs the proper fueling and that includes carbs. His nutritionist Dave Palumbo himself was skeptical about how Hunter's body would hold up given the brutality of the exercises matched with the lack of carb intake. To his surprise, it has worked out just fine. He's basically destroying these brutal exercises without any carbs, yikes!

We can't deny the results, Hunter's in the best shape of his life when you combine his training habits and lean physique. Although it's pretty ridiculous that he's staying that healthy while consuming no carbs whatsoever.

4 Eats Plenty Of Peanut Butter

via youtube.com

He might not eat that much in terms of carbs, however, he makes up for that by eating insane amount of dietary fat. One can only imagine the ridiculous amount he consumes in order to stay healthy and maintain such a large physique. It wouldn't shock us one bit if he's consuming between 150-200 grams of fat per day. He loves getting his body to a ketonic level and in order to do so, you must depend heavily on fats.

One of his preferred fats to consume on a regular basis is peanut butter. According to his nutritionist Dave Palumbo, Hunter get in at least 24 to 32 grams of fat from PB alone. Meaning, he's pounding down three-four large portions on the regular and it wouldn't surprise us if he's eating even more. Almonds and cashews are another preferred route in terms of his dietary fat intake.

3 Consumes Large Cheat Meal Once A Week During Off-Season

via pinterest.com

Even though he is not be the biggest fan of cheat meals, he needs to consume them in the off-season in order to grow. He loses a bit of muscle during his caloric deficit, so it's important to gain that back. Cheat meals speed up the process by boosting the metabolic rate in the body along with adding water to the muscles.

Like The Rock, Trips goes all out in his cheat meals. One can only imagine how many pieces of sushi he smashed down in the photo above alongside buddies Kevin Nash and Shawn Michaels. He's likely eating as many grams of carbs in one sitting that he does throughout his entire WrestleMania prep. In the words of Kurt Angle, oh it's true, it's damn true!

2 Still Goes Heavy & High Intensity During Caloric Deficit

When you scale back the calories it's only normal for the body to feel sluggish and tired. For that reason, lots of trainees lose strength along with the intensity needed to thrive. That's not the case for Triple H who somehow manages to thrive despite the lack of calorie consumption.

The video above shows Triple H literally days away from WrestleMania and smoking some intense Close-Grip on the bench press for his triceps. One can only imagine how low his calorie consumption was at the point but despite that, he was sill hitting some serious weight while keeping the intensity incredibly high. Again, his tactics are ridiculous but motivating as hell. If he didn't make it pro wrestling, he'd be making it in the world of fitness that's for darn sure.

1 Finding The Time

The most ridiculous aspect of Triple H's healthy life is the fact that he manages to find the time. When he's not travelling with the WWE he's taking care of the youth and NXT down in Orlando. When he's not doing that, Hunter's putting in countless hours at the WWE HQ. Seriously, how the hell does he find time?

This particular post really sums up his dedication. Between Sunday to Thursday he went from New York, Las Vegas, Anaheim, back to NY, Athens, Saudi Arabia, Athens and then back to NY. After travelling 21K miles in a span of a couple of days the first thing he did was hit another midnight workout. Again, truly ridiculous the lengths he's willing to go in order to stay healthy. What's your excuse again?
