15 Recent Allegations
We start the article off with the breaking story making the rounds. Just prior to Raw’s 25th Anniversary, it was announced that Enzo Amore was to be suspended indefinitely due to a charge of assault. The unnamed victim took Twitter claiming she was taken advantage of by Amore in October and his two accomplices let the act take place inside a hotel room in Phoenix – she also claims other substances played a part in the situation. The victim alleges that she spent 45 days in a mental hospital following the disturbing situation.
For now, the case is in limbo with the lab results yet to be released; we’ll have a better idea pertaining to the severity of the situation once the info is unveiled. The WWE has made a statement regarding the situation claiming they have a zero tolerance when it comes to harassment or assault. No matter how this situation ends up, it’ll be a moment in Enzo’s career the WWE will want us to forget about.
14 Heat With The Department Of Motor Vehicles
As you likely know by now, Enzo hasn’t shied away from controversy, even when it comes to situations outside of the ring. Most recently, Enzo posted a picture of his driver's licence via Instagram; the hilarious photo features Enzo Amore signing his name in a rather peculiar shape. We’ll leave what the shape is to your imaginations but it’s pretty simple...
Amore explained that he had numerous problems with the Department of Motor Vehicles in Delaware and decided to use the signature as a message of his displeasures. He was contacted by the department as they wanted him to change his signature, though Amore turned down the request claiming, “I know my rights” – hard to argue with that. Despite the hilarity of the situation, it isn’t something the WWE wants us to remember him by especially with the latest new unfolding.
13 How He Got His Job With The WWE
Unlike numerous others on the main roster, including the Cruiserweights, Enzo did not earn his stripes on the indie scene, instead, it was more of a case of knowing the right people. Amore trained in Jersey alongside Joe DeFranco since the age of 16. A life-long fan of the WWE, Amore got into the system due to his connection. He would shoot a promo on video for DeFranco who later passed on the footage to Triple H. Given his great gift of gab, Hunter liked what he saw and extended a contract to Amore despite his lack of in-ring experience – something that is a rarity nowadays, especially if you have no professional athletic background.
He inked a WWE deal in the summer of 2012 starting off with the lackluster name of Eric Anthony, thankfully he would go by the Enzo Amore moniker as of the later stages of 2012.
12 Relationship With Liv Morgan
What certainly doesn’t help Enzo Amore’s cause is the fact that he came out of a failed relationship in the past to current WWE SmackDown Live Superstar Liv Morgan. Liv actually got a WWE deal in large part thanks to Enzo. The two would start to date and their relationship seemed rather under the radar - that is until the breakup.
The two would end up going their separate ways when it was revealed that Amore cheated on Morgan. Liv embarrassed Enzo via social media expressing her happiness on being single and not having to worry about being cheated on, yikes! That past relationship is something the WWE wants to forget, especially with this news coming out. As for Morgan, she’s doing just fine nowadays already on the main roster at the age of 23.
11 Football Career
The WWE loves to not only sign athletes but acknowledge their prowess in the other domain. That doesn’t appear to be the case with Enzo Amore however as the company rarely acknowledges anything pertaining to his past and that includes his collegiate football career.
Amore played football at both the high school and college levels. He played Division III for Salisbury University; his position for the two year stint was linebacker and safety. Following his run on the field from 2007 to 2009, his playing days were up as he would give up on the sport. Pictures of his football days are available online and you can even get glimpse of one up above. As you see in the picture, he wasn’t the biggest guy that’s for darn sure – for that reason; the WWE likely wants us to forget he took up the sport at one point in time.
10 John Cena Was A Huge Advocate Of His
One name the WWE will always protect is of the poster boy of the company, of course, we’re talking about John Cena. So for that reason, linking Cena’s name to Amore is surely something the WWE wants us to forget about - especially with the recent allegations.
So what does Cena have to do with Enzo? It turns out John played a pretty big role in pushing Enzo’s gimmick. Following a visit down at the Performance Center, Cena was extremely impressed by Amore calling him the most standout performer at the time. Not too shocking, Amore would receive a massive push after Cena’s praise and shortly after, he’d be called up to the main roster. One of Amore’s top moments took place alongside Cena at the Battleground PPV as the duo alongside Big Cass took on The Club. Amore’s pre-match promo blew everyone away and that included a stunned John Cena who was in the ring.
9 Squashed In His WWE Debut
Before getting a push due to Cena’s praise, Amore was down on the totem pole and perhaps, the lowest out of any other NXT Superstar. Rightly so, Amore entered the NXT system with no prior experience, a lack of athletic background and, it didn’t help that he was smaller in stature.
His NXT debut was booked as such – Amore was destroyed in a match against Mason Ryan, the same dude who now travels as a circus act, seriously he tours with Cirque de Soleil nowadays leaving his sports and entertainment days behind. Nonetheless, the embarrassing start wasn’t the greatest for Enzo and a part of his career he and the WWE will want us to forget about. Thankfully, the WWE added muscle by his side shortly after when Big Cass would also reinvent himself taking on the role as Enzo’s tag team partner.
8 Had Heat With His Peers During NXT Stint
Down in NXT, Amore became extremely over with the audience due to his gift of gab. However, what a lot of people didn’t know is the fact that he was extremely unpopular among his peers down in development. We all know about his main roster difficulties, however, the problems began way before the main roster.
Big Cass discussed some of the displeasures of having to work with Amore, one of them being the fact that he created lots of animosity down in NXT due to his attitude. Even coaches strongly disliked the talent, some even predicted that Enzo’s career would go nowhere because of his bad attitude. Nonetheless, despite rubbing so many people the wrong way, he would manage to work his way up the card and later join the main roster. Problems persisted but we’ll have a little more on that later in the article.
7 Other Jobs Before The WWE
As we stated earlier, Amore didn’t necessarily have a prestigious background before signing a WWE deal. He wasn’t an athlete and for the most part, took on regular jobs, some the WWE might be ashamed to disclose.
One of his jobs actually included working as a piano mover if you can believe, sounds like a character out of a mob movie. Among other jobs also included a brief stint as a DJ which really shouldn’t shock too many of us, hell he looks a Jersey Shore character come to life and into a WWE ring.
Another job also included working as ticket salesman for the New York Jets. As bizarre as all of those occupations sound, the oddest past experience of Amore’s might be his certification in journalism, which is one of his proudest accomplishments. Though many aren’t buying the validity of that claim...
6 Career Was Going Downhill Following Break Up With Big Cass
The WWE will want us to forget about this given the fact that he’s now a two-time Cruiserweight Champion, however, a successful run with a championship wasn’t always in the cards and instead, it was supposed to be the opposite. Following his brutal breakup to Cass and getting squashed by the big man, Amore was scheduled to fall down the card and became a massive afterthought. Oh how things ended up changing.
With an injury to Big Cass and with the 205 Live show struggling to gain any attention, Amore was repacked and sent to the show as an apparent savior. He went from being an afterthought with a future as pushover to a Cruiserweight Champion with an entirely different persona as a heel. Yup, that’s WWE booking for you....
5 Caused Neville To Walk Out
Okay, let’s get it straight, Neville walking out wasn’t entirely Enzo’s fault – several dirt sheet writers stated the fact that the King of the Cruiserweights was actually miserable for quite some time before walking out on the company. Neville was furious due to his booking along with the fact that his match with Austin Aries from WrestleMania wasn’t featured on the DVD - which meant no royalty payments.
The final dagger took place during a scheduled Lumberjack Match in which Enzo Amore was supposed to walk away victorious still as the Cruiserweight Champion against Neville. Following the decision, Neville refused the terms and walked out. Ironically, Kalisto would take his place and win the championship in the match – ending Amore’s 15 day reign with the title.
4 Burning Bridges With Big Cass In Real-Life
Enzo’s real friendships within the WWE seem to be quite limited; he does have an awkward bromance with Finn Balor however. You would figure despite going their separate ways that Cass and Enzo would remains close, however even that appears to have fizzled out following Cass’ terrible leg injury.
Having first met at the age of 15, it seems as though the love affair might be over in real-life between the two. The heat began following Cass’ injury during their match, Enzo was irate that Cass didn’t finish the match despite the injury and he let his words be known. Cass was infuriated by the comments calling Enzo extremely classless, talk about kicking a guy when he’s down. By all accounts, it appears as though Enzo has burned yet another bridge behind the scenes.
3 Worked As A Manager At Hooters
Yes, the Certified G was in fact a manager at multiple Hooters restaurants in the Jersey area. He confirmed the rumors via Twitter, even specifying the locations of the restos he managed - one being in Paramus and the other, Hackensack, New Jersey. Hell even gave us the routes to the places. In case you’re wondering, it’s Route 4 and Route 17; you got to love the guy for embracing his past. However, with the recent allegations, such facts can only hurt his cause.
Along with the background of working at Hooters, Amore spends most of his time off the road hanging out with celebrity friends and usually partying it up. He even has a recent picture taken just days ago surrounded by an impressive entourage of celebs which included John Mayer.
2 Kicked Off Tour Bus
The most recent controversial incident to take place behind the scenes featured Enzo Amore getting kicked off of the WWE’s tour bus. According to the rumors, Enzo was talking loudly on his cell phone speaking obnoxiously. Among one of this conversation topics included how much he was making off WWE merchandise bonuses. Known as the locker room leader nowadays, Reigns stood up to Amore kicking him off the bus. Enzo denied the claims during a recent interview, however, lots of speculation tells us otherwise.
Another consequence of the situation featured Amore getting kicked out of the locker room as well. When asked about the situation, Amore claims he wasn’t kicked out but instead given his own locker room given his “high powered status”.
1 The Concussion
The WWE is now completely altered internally in comparison to the product we saw back in the 90s. The WWE is now a global force and with that in mind, they have zero tolerance when it comes to certain issues. Three of them in particular are of the most importance; one being domestic disturbances or arrests, two being Wellness related issues and three, injuries which include concussions.
It looks like Amore can now cross two of those off the list. The WWE will want us to forget as Amore underwent a scary incident that saw him completely knocked out cold. The match took place at the Payback PPV and was called a no-contest due to Amore suffering a concussion after getting whipped hard into the ropes by Simon Gotch. It was a scary situation and given how cautious the WWE is with concussion injuries, they’ll want us to forget that such an incident ever took place.
