WWE has always been very hit and miss when it comes to giving the fans what they want, no matter how much they try and tell you otherwise. While they'll try and convince you that they'll always do what's 'best for business' as they like to phrase it, sometimes, they'll just do what's best for themselves, and it's hard for us to begrudge them of that.

At the end of the day, this is their company, not ours, and all we can do is voice our opinions and hope that they're heard. With that being said, when it comes to this list we're about to run down, there's no doubt that we'd give anything to see these things take place. Some are much more realistic possibilities than others, as with five entries being things we think are impossible to salvage at this stage, but that's one of the factors you have to deal with in professional wrestling.

We can't look into a crystal ball and tell you what's going to happen in the future, but what we can do is appeal to WWE's nurturing side and pray that some of our wishes are answered.

Get ready for some serious fantasy booking, folks.

20 NEEDS TO DO: Seth Rollins = The Guy

via twitter.com

Ever since Seth Rollins burst onto the scene as a singles star following the break-up of The Shield, in our minds, he's proven himself to be the stand-out talent in that group. Roman Reigns has been positioned as 'the guy' but we all know he's not destined for that role, whereas Dean Ambrose's stock has taken a dramatic dive over the course of the last few years.

Then, after returning from injury, The Architect took things to a whole new level when he turned babyface. This was a move that many felt was a long time coming, and while it may have taken a while for him to settle into the role, we're confident in saying that he's the future of the WWE.

In the last few weeks alone he's been having world-class match after world-class match, and he's only just getting started.

Rollins needs to have a rocket ship strapped to him because as a babyface world champion, he could do some remarkable things for the company. He doesn't even need to hold onto the title for that long, just so long as he's recognised as the face of WWE for the foreseeable future. Why? Because he's earned it, and nobody else does it better than Rollins.

19 NEEDS TO DO: Gable The Underdog

via wwe.com

While Chad Gable was quite entertaining in his heel role alongside Shelton Benjamin on SmackDown Live, it feels like he's been given a new lease of life on Monday Night Raw. His match with Jinder Mahal proved to the world why he's always been seen as such a hot commodity, with his underdog mentality being outshone by his freakish athleticism and outrageous strength.

Sure, his theme song may need some work and sure, we could do with seeing some more character development from him, but Chad is a special kind of talent and fans of his run down in NXT with American Alpha will already be well aware of that. He may never reach the level of being world champion, but even on Raw, having a solid position in the mid-card is a pretty good place to be.

The next twelve months or so are going to be vital for his progression because, at 32, he's currently working through the prime of his career. Much like Daniel Bryan, Chad could be utilised in an underdog role which could see him become one of the most over guys in the company. It'll take some time, but the investment will be more than worth it.

18 NEEDS TO DO: Strowman Rules All

via wwfoldschool.com

If you aren't a fan of Braun Strowman's work in WWE, then we have to seriously question whether or not you just thrive on disappointment. The Monster Among Men is arguably turning into the Stone Cold Steve Austin of this era, with fans eating up every single little thing he does. The win at Greatest Royal Rumble was a great moment for him, but to us, it's only the beginning.

Whether it be as a babyface or a heel, Braun needs to capture the Universal Championship.

Some will argue that he doesn't necessarily 'need' the title, and while you may be right, he deserves to hold it. This isn't about whether or not the belt will enhance his credibility, it's about recognizing who the most over guy on the roster is right now - and that's Strowman.

Braun has the skill and freakish athleticism to make a title reign like this last for quite some time, but unlike Brock, he'll actually be around to defend his championship on a month-by-month basis. There's no guarantee that he's going to work as the champion for an extended period of time, but you can't deny that he's earned the chance to test the waters.

17 MISSED THE BOAT: Ziggler's Babyface Run

via wwe.com

We start the 'missed the boat' entries with one that is particularly depressing. In the present day, it's clear to see that Dolph Ziggler just isn't working out as a top-level superstar. While his partnership with Drew McIntyre is a lot of fun, all that's really going to do is elevate McIntyre to a whole new level whereas Ziggler will probably fall back down the card when the time comes for Drew to challenge for the world title. But back in the day, things were a lot different.

In the immediate aftermath of Survivor Series 2014, where Ziggler managed to overcome the odds and be the sole survivor for his team, it genuinely felt like The Show-Off was on his way to the top of the card.

The crowd were giving him some of the best reactions of his career, and he'd just had an incredible ladder match with Luke Harper for the Intercontinental Championship.

Then, it all seemed to fall apart. For whatever reason, the company just didn't seem to invest in him as a long-term prospect. He could've done some really big things for them if he was given the ball to run with, from both a marketing perspective and in-ring. He's still had some great highlights over the course of his career and he may prove us wrong in his current heel persona, but we aren't holding our breath.

16 NEEDS TO DO: Jordan's Revelation

via wwe.com

From the moment he was revealed to be Kurt Angle's 'son', it seemed like any chance of Jason Jordan being a credible babyface went straight out of the window. This is a guy who has been working harder than anyone in the company for the last few years to make a name for himself, and courtesy of one silly storyline, it all went away.

The boos started coming, and just before he went away with an injury, it seemed as if he was moving towards a WrestleMania showdown with Seth Rollins.

Now, however, WWE has the chance to orchestrate an even better story by revealing that Jordan was just pretending to be Kurt's son all along.

It'd be the perfect way to re-introduce him into the fold, giving a meaning and purpose to this entire thing.

It could blow off with a match between Angle and Jordan at SummerSlam if he's cleared to compete by that point, and from that point on, Jason can start to prove himself in the same manner as Chad Gable. When the fans start to see what he can do in the ring, even as a heel, he'll naturally start to be turned into a fan favourite courtesy of his abilities.

15 NEEDS TO DO: Roman's Dark Side

via cagesideseats.com

Oh, Roman. At this point, we almost feel sorry for The Big Dog. Of course, it's hard to feel sorry for a multi-millionaire who has appeared in four consecutive WrestleMania main events, but you can understand where we're coming from. His disapproval ratings just continue to grow and grow, even when it starts to seem like WWE are finally making a breakthrough with his character. It's never nice to sound like a broken record, but at what point do you have to call an audible?

There is no feasible way for Roman Reigns to get over as a babyface champion unless you initially turn him heel, and it's really that simple.

People are calling it the obvious solution, but sometimes, you need to go with what's obvious - because it's also what is best for business. Roman has fought valiantly, but it'll all be for nothing if WWE doesn't pull the trigger on this. There's always the possibility of Reigns continuing down this route for the next few years before eventually retiring because let's face it, he's got the money to do so. But is that what any of us really want to see? This is an extremely talented professional wrestler we're talking about, and he deserves to be recognised as such.

14 NEEDS TO DO: Grow The Family

Via The Inquisitr

Remember when it felt like The Wyatt Family was going to grow in numbers and become an actual cult? They were simpler times, but in many ways, life was much better because it meant that Bray Wyatt had a purpose. Right now, he's got an interesting storyline going on with Woken Matt Hardy, but we have no logical reason to believe that it'll end positively for The Eater of Worlds.

We've been burned too many times when it comes to Wyatt, and now, we're convinced that any logical form of booking by WWE will soon be counteracted with something ridiculous.

Because of that, it feels like they need to go back to square one with him. By this, we mean that he needs to eventually turn Woken Matt into one of his own 'minions' alongside the likes of Curtis Axel and his real-life brother Bo Dallas.

From that point on, they can continue to recruit more and more members, until Wyatt is running the modern day equivalent of the hippy-nWo. It'd take a great deal of commitment for something like this to be pulled off successfully, but it'd be worth it so long as Bray can finally be restored as a legitimate world title contender.

13 MISSED THE BOAT: Phenom vs Icon

Via Sportskeeda.com

You won't find many wrestling fans who have never been interested in seeing The Undertaker vs Sting, and the ones that you do find likely started watching wrestling in the last few years. That makes sense, but for old school fans of the business, we'll always be left to wonder what would've happened if these two phenomenal characters had stepped foot in the ring against one another.

The most frustrating thing of all is that this option was on the table on several different occasions. In the build-up to WrestleMania XXVII, it was being discussed but Sting didn't want to go through with it, and then at WrestleMania 31, they were quite literally on the same card.

The Icon was facing off against Triple H and Bray Wyatt was challenging The Deadman - so why on earth didn't they just switch the two matches around?

Sting was forced to retire due to injuries so it'll probably never happen now, although you could argue that stranger things have happened in this business. Taker seems to be back on a part-time basis even though it seemed as if he was destined for retirement, but there's just no way any kind of match between the two now would live up to our expectations.

12 NEEDS TO DO: Ronda & Heyman

Via StillRealToUs.com

It's been suggested and hinted at more times than we care to remember, but let's face it, sticking Paul Heyman with Ronda Rousey is the natural next step in her progression as a WWE superstar. Right now, it's clear to see that she isn't all too comfortable on the mic, and while that may change in the future, Heyman can help her ease into that transition for the next few years at the very least.

He made Brock Lesnar feel like a bad dude for the better part of 15 years, so why can't he give it a go with the baddest woman on the planet?

This feels like the most obvious option on the list, but given Paul's age, it remains unclear as to how much longer he wants to continue managing for. Rousey will obviously be around for quite some time, but the same can't necessarily be said for Heyman.

He has a lot of other business ventures to attend to, and if he isn't given anything worthwhile to do with WWE, then the odds are pretty good that he'll step away from the industry. Sure, he's had a glittering career already and is a sure-fire Hall of Famer, but adding Ronda Rousey to his CV would be the cherry on top of it all.

11 NEEDS TO DO: King Neville

Via Cultured Vultures

The King of the Cruiserweights Neville has been absent from WWE television for a long time now, so in many ways, it might be smart for us to start preparing for a life where he isn't a WWE superstar anymore. Still, that's kind of a hard pill to swallow, because for the longest time he was one of the only real reasons to watch 205 Live or remain invested in the cruiserweights.

While it may take a while to work out some kind of deal, we'd love nothing more than to see him make his long-awaited comeback. You could re-introduce him as a surprise entrant in an upcoming King of the Ring tournament, before having him win the whole thing and begin his official career on either Monday Night Raw or SmackDown Live.

He's had his time in the sun with the cruiserweights, and it's time to move on from that. His size shouldn't hold him back from having fantastic matches with some of the company's best stars, and if you need evidence of what he can do, go and watch his WWE World Heavyweight Championship match against Seth Rollins from a few years ago. The guy is money, and that's a fact.

10 NEEDS TO DO: Vader's HOF Induction

via YouTube.com

Big Van Vader was an icon in World Championship Wrestling, as his matches with Sting solidified him as one of the greatest 'big man' wrestlers in the history of the business. Following his time with the company, his career went on something of a downward spiral, with his time in WWE not being treated as well as it probably should've been.

He should've been booked like the monster he was, especially given that he could do things some wrestlers couldn't have even dreamed of.

He gave his life to this business, and we mean that quite literally, as he continues to struggle with health problems. So, before we don't get the chance, we want to see him finally getting inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

He's one of the last few outstanding superstars from back in the day that really deserves to be recognised for his efforts, and while it would certainly be an emotional speech, perhaps that's what the Hall of Fame induction ceremony needs. So many of our past heroes have passed away too young, and Vader is a reminder of the sacrifices that these people go through for our entertainment.

Either way, we want to say thank you, Leon.

9 MISSED THE BOAT: Lesnar's Diversity

via wwe.com

Remember when Brock Lesnar was one of the most remarkable athletes in the history of professional wrestling? Well, some would argue that he still is, but we couldn't disagree more.

This idea that he's some kind of unstoppable beast and can't be touched in the ring is absolute nonsense, as evidenced by just how limited his 'moveset' is, if you can even call it that.

Even when he initially returned it was clear to see that Lesnar was winding it in with what he was doing in the ring, even though it was obvious that he was capable of so much more. If you need proof of that then just go back and watch his match against CM Punk, where he was able to shine brighter than he has done in a long time.

We completely understand that he isn't the same performer as he was during his first WWE run, but he definitely still possessed some of those skills. The MMA-fighter gimmick worked for a while, and he made the company a lot of money, but we can't act like we didn't want to see more from him.

Now, as he prepares to head back to the UFC, it seems as if we're going to get 'same old, same old' Brock Lesnar until he walks out the door.

8 NEEDS TO DO: Jeff's Last Run

Via WWE.com

Jeff Hardy may have had his issues over the years, but when you put all of that to one side, it's clear to see that he's arguably one of the most over superstars in WWE history. The Charismatic Enigma had an intensity and character that just seemed to resonate with the crowd, even in his feud with CM Punk when he probably should've been positioned as the heel.

Hardy's return from injury has been handled pretty well so far, and for the most part, this entry is actually starting to play out on WWE television.

Still, there are certain steps that need to be taken in order to ensure the company gets the best out of him, starting with giving him new merch. It sounds simple but just think about the money they could generate.

Plus, he needs to be featured in a world title program one more time. He doesn't necessarily need to become champion, but giving him one final 'redemption' story at the top of the card would undoubtedly create a great deal of interest - even from casual fans. Jeff is another superstar who has given his body to the business, and now, it's time to pay him back.

7 NEEDS TO DO: The MITB Problem

Via Sportskeeda.com

The Money in the Bank concept is on borrowed time, and it feels like WWE isn't even trying to hide it anymore. While the Carmella cash-in worked pretty well, it was painfully similar to Dolph Ziggler's back in 2013, whereas Baron Corbin's effort from earlier in the year was just embarrassing. They're starting to run out of ideas and before they put it on the shelf for good, we want to see a few more ideas brought to the surface.

One of them involves having a masked figure win the briefcase, leaving many to wonder who will actually cash in. Then, at some point during the next year, a superstar comes out and cashes in, to the shock of many who didn't even know who it was going to be. It sounds a little bit played out and the live crowd probably wouldn't be huge fans of it, but just imagine the heat that the winner would get.

Also, we want to see what would happen if someone holds onto the briefcase for too long. Perhaps they couldn't find a way to cash it in over the course of twelve months, and it comes down to the final night of their tenure for them to cash it in. Whether it be on SmackDown Live or a pay-per-view, the tension throughout the night would make for an entertaining spectacle.

6 NEEDS TO DO: New Day Dominance

via wwe.com

Together, Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods & Big E have had some incredibly fun moments over the years. As a unit, The New Day have gone back and forth between being respectable and entertaining babyfaces to being annoying heels, and it's worked out pretty well for them. Their merch sells well, they're one of the most over acts on the card, and the careers of all three men have been improved as a result.

But now, it's time to take it to the next level. What people sometimes fail to realise is that these three men are actually incredibly talented performers, both on the mic and in the ring. So, why not treat them as such? Y

ou could have Xavier & Kofi or Xavier & Big E win the Tag Team Championships, leaving the remaining member to go after the world title.

If booked correctly it could work out brilliantly, and let's face it, every stable needs to have that moment where they hold all the gold. Some people have argued that they need to split up in order for one of them to have a long run as a singles star, but that isn't the case at all. They're stronger when they're together, and they could prove that once and for all by taking over SmackDown Live for a few months.

5 MISSED THE BOAT: John Morrison

via StillRealToUs.com

It may be hard for some fans to remember this but back in late 2010 and early 2011, John Morrison was one of the hottest things going in professional wrestling. He was starting to make some noise as an upper mid-card babyface in WWE, and after defeating Sheamus in a number one contender match, it appeared as if his crowning moment was right around the corner.

Alas, then he lost to The Miz, and from that point on, it never seemed like the company were all too invested in him as a top star. There was the incident involving Trish Stratus at WrestleMania that seemed to rub people the wrong way, but beyond that, things just sort of fell apart for him. That may have been partly his fault, but just imagine how big he could've become if the machine had gotten behind him.

Morrison had already proven himself to be a handy heel as well as an interesting babyface, and he was starting to morph into a modern-day Jeff Hardy of sorts. If one or two things went differently, then we may have been talking about him as a multi-time world champion by this point.

WWE giveth and WWE taketh away.

4 NEEDS TO DO: Cesaro The Terminator

Via GiveMeSport.com

While the Cesaro hype train may have cooled down over the last few years, that doesn't mean that the Swiss Superman is any less talented or doesn't still deserve to be pushed up the card. Alongside Sheamus, he's been able to somewhat reinvigorate the career as The Bar have been the top dogs of Raw's tag team division. Now, however, it's time for a change.

They've been together long enough, and after their current run over on SmackDown Live, they need to go back to being singles stars. You could have The Celtic Warrior turn on Cesaro, or perhaps even the other way around, leading to Cesaro taking on something of a 'terminator' gimmick. It sounds ridiculous, but just hear us out.

He doesn't need to speak, he doesn't need to play to the crowd, and he doesn't even need to react to what he's doing in the ring. All Cesaro needs to do is prove to the world why he's such a phenomenal in-ring competitor, and the rest will work itself out. Before long he'll be surging towards the top of the card, and if you disagree with that, go back and look at how over Ryback was during his initial run.

3 NEEDS TO DO: The Triple H Takeover

Via Forbes.com

If you're a WWE superstar in the current landscape, there's always a level of uncertainty surrounding how you're going to be treated by the booking team. Under the guidance of Vince McMahon, there have been some utterly bizarre decisions that have transpired over the last few decades, with the last few years in particular including some serious head-scratchers.

If you're down in NXT, however, you don't tend to have those kinds of problems. You see, the whole 'Triple H is the future' thing isn't just a fancy saying, it's a fact.

The King of Kings understands the business more so than anyone in the back, and he has a pulse on what the fans really do what to see on a week to week basis.

Still, we don't think that Vince should be completely ousted from the line of duty, and instead, we want to see him mentor HHH over the next few months and years. We all know that McMahon is going to be giving the XFL most of his attention sooner rather than later, and prior to that happening, we want to see what he can do when handing the ball to Triple H in a sort of 'trial run'.

2 NEEDS TO DO: WWE vs NJPW

Via Medium.com

This one is unbelievably unlikely, but just imagine it for a second: WWE vs NJPW in a super-show for the ages. It's something that has been discussed on and off for a long time, and with The Young Bucks recently coming out and stating they want to make it happen, now seems like the best possible time for it to come to fruition. There are a lot of roadblocks that need to be dealt with, but it'd be so, so worth it.

You could balance the booking out so that they win an even amount of matches on the actual card, and it would showcase just how much the industry has changed in the last few years.

WWE has proven that themselves courtesy of their associations with Progress, ICW and Evolve, and it legitimately feels like this is only the beginning.

It's not going to happen overnight and we'd probably have to wait a while for it to happen, but you just know that it'd be one of the greatest spectacles in the history of professional wrestling. Nobody would know which way all of the matches are going to go, and even if they assume WWE will come out on top, Triple H would make sure that things are as unpredictable as ever.

1 MISSED THE BOAT: The Barrett Era

Via Sportskeeda.com

Wade Barrett should've won the WWE Championship back in 2010 during his initial run as the leader of NXT. There, we said it. It's an obvious statement to make in a lot of ways, given that the alternate option was having Randy Orton continue to hold onto the strap, but since then there has been a parade of opportunities for the Brit to rise up through the ranks of the main roster.

He never really reached the world title scene again, at least in a serious way, and eventually, he just left WWE altogether. It's a huge shame that we never got to see what he could do with a world title because he had all of the qualities you need to thrive as a really fun bad guy. He had the look, the in-ring prowess and the character attributes that you'd expect from someone in that position.

Perhaps we've just been too invested in too many different names over the years, but this one feels like a particular slap in the face. Barrett was a company man who never put a foot wrong, and it always felt like WWE took advantage of that. There's no doubt that he'll forever be grateful to them for the opportunity he was presented with, but that 'what if' is hard to avoid.
