Pro wrestling is notoriously known for being pre-determined, as non-wrestling fans love to point out. This is not news to any real wrestling fan. We all understand that all outcomes are planned, which makes predicting them a lot of fun. As fans of professional wrestling and the WWE, we love to fantasy book and make armchair analysis One of the most popular forms of wrestling-related media online is prediction articles. Before every major WWE pay-per-view, all of the biggest sports-related outlets will release an article predicting what will happen and who will win what matches. For those of us who consider ourselves part of the “Internet Wrestling Community”, making predictions is part of the fun of being a wrestling fan.

However, sometimes, what the WWE is planning on doing and what the hardcore fans actually want are two very different things. While fans focus on storylines and wrestling ability, the WWE is often more concerned with making money and pleasing shareholders. More often than not, in fact, what the fans want is completely contradictory to what is actually in the plans. It can occasionally be painfully obvious what the booking team is planning on doing, and just as obvious that the fans do not want what management has planned. Fans always like to think that we know better than teams of writers, and certain pushes or plans are often directly contradictory to what we want. These are just some of the things that the WWE should do in the coming months or year, and some of the things that they will actually do instead.

20 Should: Have The Royal Rumble Winner Headline WrestleMania

via wwe.com

The Royal Rumble will be here before we know it, with Survivor Series now in the rearview mirror. The WWE's treatment of the Royal Rumble winner isn't what it used to be. It is no longer a lock for the Royal Rumble winner to headline WrestleMania. Last year, Asuka and Nakamura won their respective Royal Rumbles, only to see the main event go to Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar. The year before, Randy Orton won only for Roman Reigns to headline WrestleMania 33 against The Undertaker. This year, the WWE should make it a point for the Royal Rumble winner (from either the women's or the men's match) to close the big show.

19 Will Actually Do: Shane McMahon Heel Turn

via wwe.com

Shane McMahon winning the World Cup at Crown Jewel was one of the may reasons fans panned the event. Not only did WWE squander a chance to give someone a much needed rub, Shane winning the way he did caused fans to roll their eyes, because this seems like the start of a heel run coming for Shane. The WWE has constantly had the McMahons as heel authority figures, with Stephanie playing that role for the past few years. Having another McMahon heel authority figure seems like very lazy booking and it's unlikely to cause much more intrigue on SmackDown.

18 Should: Introduce More Tag Team Titles

via wwe.com

When WWE Evolution was announced for this year, there was a huge backstage rumor that WWE would be introducing Women’s Tag Team Titles, which seemed likely considering all of the women’s teams in the WWE, like the Boss and Hug Connection, Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville, former Absolution members, and the Riott Squad. Also, the 205 Live Teams of the Lucha House Party and The Brian Kendrick, Drew Gulak, and Jack Gallagher seemed primed to be candidates for the first Cruiserweight Tag Team Champions. However, neither divisions have announced tag team championship belts as of this writing, and they do not seem to be coming anytime soon.

17 Will Actually Do: Ignore Tag Team Wrestling

via wikipedia.org

It is not a big secret that Vince McMahon is not a fan of tag team wrestling. While they currently have many different tag teams on their rosters, they do not utilize the teams correctly.

The Revival and The Ascension are prime examples of the main roster not fully utilizing tag teams that had much success in NXT when they are promoted to the main roster.

As further proof, the SmackDown Tag Titles seem to float between the same two or three teams constantly, and the Raw Tag Team Titles have only been held by teams that were created on the main roster, like the B Team and Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt.

16 Should: Break Up Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre

via 96rock.com

Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre have seemed set for a collision course ever since they first formed an alliance. However, many fans have wanted Drew McIntyre to go solo for a long time, and maybe even feud with Dolph Ziggler. Now that Braun Strowman has been almost forced to turn face following the untimely departure of Roman Reigns, the team of Dolph and Drew have lost not only their biggest muscle, but they have also lost all reason for existing, with The Shield dissolving after Dean Ambrose turned on Seth Rollins. This is the perfect time for Dolph and Drew to quietly part ways.

15 Will Actually Do: Break Up The New Day

via wwe.com

The team of Kofi Kingston, Big E, and Xavier Woods have had unprecedented levels of success in the WWE, as they have held WWE Tag Team Titles more times than practically every other active team in the company, either on Smackdown or Raw. However, as Big E’s singles runs have shown, WWE could seemingly see themselves pushing Big E. Also, The New Day has seemingly already peaked in their popularity, with their peak popularity coming when they came out of a cereal box at WrestleMania. There have been backstage rumblings of The New Day breaking up for over a year, and it seems more likely than ever now.

14 WWE Should: Feature Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose In The Main Event

via wwe.com

Ever since The Shield’s reunion in late 2017, every fan has been predicting Dean Ambrose’s heel turn on Seth Rollins, finally setting up the proper face/heel dynamic between Rollins and Ambrose. However, no one predicted that it would happen when it did, which was the same night that Roman Reigns relinquished the Universal Title to fight his leukemia.

This feud has the potential to be just as big as the original Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins feud from the original dissolution of The Shield, and they deserve to be in the main event, even if they are not competing for the Universal Title.

13 Will Actually Do: Feature Brock Lesnar In The Main Event

via twitter.com

Whether WWE fans want to admit it or not, Brock Lesnar is perhaps the biggest mainstream draw for the company, apart from their other major MMA star Ronda Rousey. At Crown Jewel, Strowman and Lesnar faced off for the title, and they seemed the only likely competitors that could believably defeat the other. Strowman now seemingly will set his sights on Baron Corbin, while Lesnar is once again Universal Champion.

Also, now that Roman Reigns is out of action for potentially years, the WWE is even more likely to give Brock Lesnar however much money he wants to maintain a feud with Braun Strowman, a feud that is also likely to feature prominently in the main event scene on Monday Night Raw.

12 Should: Keep Daniel Bryan As WWE Champion Into WrestleMania

via wwe.com

When Daniel Bryan was cleared to compete just before WrestleMania 34, many fans started fantasy booking Daniel Bryan and The Miz in a marquee feud, possibly at WrestleMania. AJ Styles had a lengthy title reign, defeating nearly everyone on the SmackDown roster. However, after Daniel Bryan surprisingly took the title off Styles prior to Survivor Series. Not only that, Bryan turned heel in the process, which definitely was a curveball fans were not expecting. Reports came about shortly after that the primary reason was that Vince didn't want to book Styles to lose to Brock Lesnar two years in a row at Survivor Series. While a heel Bryan should have a lengthy reign, what does this booking decision mean?

11 Will Actually Do: Have AJ Styles Regain The Title

via dailyddt.com

It was looking very likely that AJ Styles was going to break CM Punk's record of 434 days with the WWE Championship but the WWE swerved everyone by having Styles drop the title to Daniel Bryan. Reports came out since then indicating Vince only did so to prevent Styles from losing to Lesnar two years in a row at Survivor Series. This could mean that Bryan will be a transitional champion and can drop the title back to Styles at some point in the coming weeks, or possibly the Rumble. But Vince outta really give Bryan a chance, especially as a heel, to explore a feud with a top babyface going into WrestleMania season.

10 Should: Make Johnny Gargano NXT Champion

via wwe.com

The NXT feud between Johnny Gargano and NXT Champion Tomasso Ciampa has been the best WWE feud in years. Also, Gargano has been a part of two 5-Star WWE matches, something that is nearly unheard of for any WWE wrestler, much less an NXT roster member. While the time might have already passed for Johnny Wrestling to be NXT Champion, many of the fans at the Full Sail Arena are still huge Johnny Gargano fans.

Gargano also plays a very good underdog babyface, the likes of which we haven’t seen since Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 30. Now as a heel, Gagrano can still have a great rtun with the title before his eventual promotion to the main roster.

9 Will Actually Do: Make Velveteen Dream NXT Champion

via cagesideseats.com

The one thing that probably makes WWE higher on the Velveteen Dream than any other wrestler on NXT is the fact that he is a home-grown talent that is just as over as some of the indie talent that they have signed. Also, with Velveteen Dream’s recent face turn, it seems like his face turn was timed perfectly for him to take the NXT Championship from Tommaso Ciampa. He may only be a transitional champion, as someone for Adam Cole to beat for the NXT Championship, but the Velveteen Dream still seems like the most likely competitor that will be the next NXT Champion.

8 Should: Call Up Tommaso Ciampa

via pressofatlanticcity.com

Tomasso Ciampa is undoubtedly one of the best heels in the pro world of pro wrestling. He has been ready to debut on the main roster for months, but he first needs someone to take the NXT Championship from him. It is highly likely that Ciampa will debut in the Royal Rumble in 2019, just like Andrade Almas did in 2018 when he was NXT Champion. When Tomasso is inevitably eliminated by a crowd favorite babyface, this should be the incident that makes Ciampa come to the main roster. Ciampa has had a lengthy reign already, at over 120 days, so it may be time for him to come to Raw or SmackDown.

7 Will Actually Do: Call Up Johnny Gargano

via wwe.com

As much as I just said that it is never too late for Johnny Gargano to win the NXT Championship, it is seeming more and more likely that he won’t be the won to win the championship from his (now former) arch nemesis, Tommaso Ciampa. Just like Ciampa, Johnny Gargano has been ready to come up to the main roster for months, maybe even a year. Since he will not be NXT Champion, Johnny Gargano will likely be called up to the main roster. He could debut any day now, in fact, as his feud with Ciampa seems that it should have finally come to an end.

6 Should: Turn Becky Lynch Face

via wwe.com

It is truly baffling that Becky Lynch is still being portrayed as a heel. The situation that she was put in when her title match was made into a triple threat including Charlotte Flair was an extremely sympathetic situation, considering that fact that she was on a hot streak and had been a fan favorite for months. Even when Becky supposedly turned heel on her “best friend” Charlotte, Becky’s “turn” was met with resounding cheers from the SummerSlam crowd. After the amazing match that she and Charlotte put on at Evolution, Becky Lynch should be treated like a resilient babyface.

5 Will Actually Do: Push Charlotte Flair As A Face

via wwe.com

Many fans have called Charlotte Flair the Roman Reigns of the women’s division in the WWE. Disregarding a fairly lackluster run was a heel, Charlotte has been a face for a long time, and that will likely not change anytime soon. Even though Becky Lynch was the crowd-designated face during her feud with Charlotte, but Charlotte was continuously portrayed as a face, despite fans wanting to “Boo the Woo”. Even though her feud with Becky Lynch seems to be going on hold momentarily while Becky feuds with Ronda Rousey, Charlotte will likely go on to be pushed as the face of the women’s division.

4 Should: Push Heel Dean Ambrose

via wwe.com

As mentioned in a previous entry, Dean Ambrose turning heel and breaking up The Shield seemed inevitable. Everyone knew that it was going to happen, we just weren’t sure when it would happen. Now that Dean has tuned on Seth Rollins, this silent but deadly Dean Ambrose should be pushed as the biggest heel on Monday Night Raw, especially now that Braun Strowman is a face.

Monday Night Raw needs a main event level heel, and Dean Ambrose is probably the most despised heel on the main roster at the moment. The WWE should cash in on Dean Ambrose’s heel turn as give him a major push.

3 Will Actually Do: Push Heel Bobby Lashley

via twitter.com

When Kevin Owens was sidelined, Bobby Lashley and Kevin Owens did one of the best executed double turns in WWE, the likes of which we haven’t seen since the Neville and Enzo double turn from a year ago. During Bobby Lashley’s first WWE run, Vince McMahon was very high on Bobby Lashley, and it is likely that he will continue to be pushed as one of the biggest heels on Monday Night Raw.

The evidence is there as well, as Bobby Lashley was given John Cena’s spot in the WWE World Cup tournament at Crown Jewel. Lashley is quickly becoming a very reliable hand for WWE bookers.

2 Should: Make Finn Bálor Universal Champion

via wwe.com

Finn Bálor’s shoulder issue following his win at SummerSlam in 2016 to become the inaugural Universal Champion forced Bálor to the sidelines for 8 months, with him staying off of WWE television for an additional two months. Finn Bálor was never awarded any sort of rematch for the championship that he never lost, and many fans figured that he never would, since Roman Reigns was set to have a lengthy title run. However, since Roman Reigns will potentially be out of action for years, the Universal Championship picture is very much up in the air. Fans of Finn Bálor would love to see him get his rematch that he deserves.

1 Will Actually Do: Give Braun Strowman A Lengthy Title Reign

via wwe.com

Considering the fact that Monday Night Raw is in desperate need of a big babyface champion, it is likely that Braun Strowman will have a very lengthy run as Universal Champion, now that he has turned face. Also, since he is a face, it is unlikely that fan favorite babyfaces like Finn will have a championship match with Strowman. Strowman is one of the most organically over superstars in the WWE today, and that is not likely to change anytime soon. Strowman will eventually be the one to dethrone Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship; the only question is when WWE will pull the trigger.
