Since his debut more than 12 years ago, when he famously uttered the words "ruthless aggression" before taking veteran Kurt Angle to the limit, no superstar has had a quicker rise to fame than John Cena. World Wrestling Entertainment's most polarizing figure is a bet to fill the seats in every city and to draw the biggest reactions form the crowds, from the chants of "Let's Go Cena" to "Cena Sucks!" Cena is a 15-time World Heavyweight Champion, a 3-Time United States Champion, and a 2-Time Royal Rumble Winner. He holds an impressive 8-3 record at "The Granddaddy Of Them All," WrestleMania, winning a record 4 titles at the event. Cena has simply done it all in WWE.

Cena is set to face Randy Orton on Sunday, October 26th at Hell In A Cell for a chance to face WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar. If he were to beat Lesnar, he'd win his record-tying 16th World Heavyweight Championship. That would tie him with the legendary "Nature Boy" Ric Flair for the most in WWE history. No matter how much you may despise him, Cena is one of the all-time greats in WWE history. This article looks to detail some of the things you may not know about the Cenation leader. Here are some of the little-known facts about John Cena.

15 15. He Is One Of Only Two Superstars To Win The Royal Rumble As Entrant #30

And what a win for Cena it was in the 2008 Royal Rumble. Cena was in the middle of the longest WWE Championship reign in over 19 years when he suffered a legitimate pectoral tear. The injury occurred on October 1st, 2007 during a match with Mr. Kennedy, when Cena was attacked by Randy Orton and was thrown to the outside of the ring. The injury would force Cena out of action and he would be stripped of the title. Cena would be out of action until...

The last 10 second countdown of the 2008 Royal Rumble ended and Cena's music hit, much to the delight of the WWE Universe and much to the chagrin of the superstars in the ring, most notably Triple H. By the end of the match, "Super Cena" had punched his ticket to WrestleMania XXIV by eliminating The Game to win.

14 14. He Once Lost His Lunch and Pooped Himself During A Match

Ask any WWE Superstar, or any professional entertainer for that matter, and they'd tell you that something embarrassing has happened to them in action that they would like to take back. For Cena, that something came during a match with "The Genetic Freak," Scott Steiner.

Cena was going through a bout of his own outside of the ring with food poisoning, but he still showed up and wrestled in a match vs Scott Steiner in Canada. At some point during the match, Cena felt like his food would not stay down and he went under the ring to throw it all up. While he was up-chucking, he also pooped his pants. What a terrible, terrible combination. In all fairness, Scott Steiner's wrestling made us all sick.

13 13. He Was Very Much Into Bodybuilding

It isn't very hard to tell from Cena's impressive physique that he was once into the sport of bodybuilding. This can most likely be traced back to when Cena was only 12 years old. It was at that age on Christmas, that he received his first weightlifting bench. Cena asked for the bench because he was getting picked on and teased in school. As the years went by, he began to get more serious with body building.

Here's what he said in a 2013 interview with Men's Fitness when they asked him why he got serious about bodybuilding:

"Just the gains that I’d made lifting weights. By the time I was 15 and I stepped in the high school gym, I was just stronger than everybody. Keep in mind, I wasn’t in, like, the big city. I was in West Newbury [MA], and to be the strongest person in West Newbury, that’s a very, very average accolade."

12 12. The Prototype

Before he was the Cenation Leader, The Doctor of Thuganomics, or even slapping the face of an Olympic gold medalist, Cena was half man, half robot as The Prototype. Cena began used this gimmick during his early wrestling days, dating back to 1999 in Ultimate Pro Wrestling and Ohio Valley Wrestling, WWE developmental territory.

Cena was quite impressive as the Prototype and executed the gimmick very well. He held the UPW Championship and while in OVW, he held the OVW Heavyweight Championship and the OVW Southern Tag Team Championship (with Rico Constantino). He also went by the name "Mr. P" during his time in Ohio Valley Wrestling.

11 11. He Was A Center For His College Football Team

While attending Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts Cena play football as the starting Center on the offensive line. He earned Division III All-American honors during his time at Springfield college which meant the squared-circle isn't the only place he's excelled in. He wore the number 54, a number that he took with him to WWE and used for many of his different t-shirts, jerseys, and chains.

During an interview with Men's Fitness mentioned earlier, he was asked if football would have been a viable career option. His response was very simple,

"No, I was way too small."

10 10. He Graduated With A Degree In Exercise Physiology

Sticking with the theme of college, John Cena received his Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology from Springfield College. Cena was a wanted men in college, as he was accepted into 58 of the 60 schools he applied to, but would eventually choose Springfield. Cena was asked about the major he chose in college and whether it gave him any advantages in the gym, once again, in the interview with Men's Fitness to which he responded,

"Yes, just to know the basics. A bachelor’s covers only the basics, but if you have a general knowledge about how the body works, you can tell when your body’s worn and when it’s not, what you can take, what the human body is capable of."

Judging by Cena's physique, he chose the right major in college, something many young adults tend to struggle with.

9 9. He Loves And Collects Muscle Cars

Cena's love for muscle cars runs deep and has a very patriotic theme behind it also. His collection mostly contains American made cars that have been preserved and one would not find anywhere else. Multiple sites say Cena drives a 1971 AMC Hornet SC/360. In a 2009 issue of Motor Trend, Cena was quoted as saying,

"The Hornet's the one that I love cruisin' in because it's so very rare," he says. "It's an AMC product, and they're long since gone. It's a low-dollar car. You can still buy one for a very good price if you can find one. But it's really cool; you can pull up to any car show and everybody can have all his best stuff out, and the Hornet always gets some attention because you just never see another one."

Cena's impressive car collection also contains a 1971 Ford Torino GT, a 1970 Mercury Cougar Eliminator, a 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge,a  1966 Dodge Charger, and a 1970 Plymouth Superbird.

The birth of John Cena's "Doctor of Thuganomics" gimmick can most likely be traced back to a Halloween edition of SmackDown back in 2002. After debuting months earlier, Cena was ready to show the world his skills on the microphone. While donning a Vanilla Ice costume, he let his rhymes flow in front of a group of WWE superstars and Divas backstage. And just like that, Cena had a new gimmick.

"Word Life."

7 7. He Lost A Match To K-Fed

Yes the former Mr. Spears once defeated Cena in a match. Not exactly how Cena expected to bring in the New Year on the January 1st, 2007 edition of RAW. Cena and Federline had crossed paths before this match, including K-Fed costing Cena a match vs King Booker at Cyber Sunday for the World Heavyweight Championship. With the assist from Umaga during their bout, Federline was able to pick up the upset of Cena.

So will Cena be giving K-Fed's induction speech into the WWE Hall of Fame?

6 6. Harrison Ford Is His Favorite Actor

via twitter.com

He's not just his favorite actor, but someone Cena uses for inspiration/motivation. Cena took to twitter to share a picture of Ford with a fitting caption before his rematch with Brock Lesnar at Night Of Champions. The caption noted how Ford was told early in his acting career that he would not make it in Hollywood, much like Cena was doubted heavily by many to be able to defeat "The One Behind 21-1" in a rematch. Ford obviously has gone on to be a very successful actor and Cena was looking to use that as his motivation heading into the pay-per-view. Cena did ultimately end up losing the rematch to Lesnar but was much closer to winning than at SummerSlam.

5 5. His Feature-Length Films Have Made Over $40.5 Million Dollars

The glass half empty approach to this would be that Cena's films have come nowhere near the amount of money grossed by names such as Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (over $2 billion worldwide) or Hulk Hogan (over $400 million). But the other side of that argument would suggest that Cena has made a nice career for himself as an actor during his time as a professional wrestler. Cena's four feature length films include The Marine (2006), 12 Rounds (2008), Legendary (2010), and Fred: The Movie (2010) with The Marine grossing the most of the four.

4 4. He Loves Anime

Yes, the All-American 15-time World Heavyweight Champion that is "Super Cena" has a deep love for the Japanese form of art. We all have our guilty pleasures and for Cena one of them is being an Anime-geek. He credits Fist of the North Star as being his favorite Anime movie and has even been featured on posters in the series Kokoro Connect.

3 3. He Married His High-School Sweetheart

via bleacherreport.com
via bleacherreport.com

There had been one woman (or more, depending on what you believe) by Cena's side for the majority of his professional wrestling career and that was Cena's longtime girlfriend Elizabeth Huberdeau, not his current girlfriend Nikki Bella. The two had been together for over 12 years before Cena announced they were engaged while promoting his movie 12 Rounds in 2009. They would be married on July 11, 2009.

The marriage however did not last long as they were divorced midway through 2012 in what started out as an ugly split, a lot of which was in the public eye. Things quickly turned peaceful and the divorce was settled with many believing Huberdeau was paid to keep quiet, with WWE not wanted any bad publicity for its poster boy. Not a far-fetched claim by any means.

As many now know (if not watch Total Divas, great show) Cena and Nicole Garcia-Colace, aka Nikki Bella, are a couple.

2 2. He is Responsible (Allegedly) For Ending Two Promising Careers

via adamswrestling.blogspot.com
via adamswrestling.blogspot.com

I alluded to this topic somewhat in the entry before this. Apparently there was a love triangle between Cena, former Spirit Squad member Kenny Dykstra, and former 5-time Women's Champion Mickie James. There was a reason why we saw less and less of the latter two until they were both banished from WWE for good and apparently Cena was a big reason behind it.

Dykstra took to twitter in 2007 to reveal the true story and which was that while he and James were engaged to be married, Cena and James were hooking up. And to get him Dykstra of the way, he was moved from RAW to SmackDown and gradually phased out until he eventual release. Obviously those two didn't get married after all of this went down.

James lasted longer than Dykstra, becoming one of the top Divas in WWE...until she and Cena allegedly stopped seeing each other. That was when she coincidentally was phased out as a top competitor until her eventual release.

Whether this is all true or not it definitely is something to think about.

1 1. Granted His 400th Request For Make-A-Wish Foundation

via wish.org
via wish.org

And no other celebrity even has over 300! If disgruntled fans who are tired of Cena headlining pay-per-view after pay-per-view need any explanation, they should look no further than Cena's impact on the lives of youth facing life-threatening illnesses. Cena is the undisputed champion when it comes to granting the wishes of these children and that is unquestioned. And it shows why he is the most requested celebrity of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Cena who has worked with Make-A-Wish for 10+ years, granted his 400th Make-A-Wish request to 9 year old Mark before an event at the Staples Center in February of 2014. Josh deBerge who is a spokesperson for Make-A-Wish had this, among other things, to say about Cena,

“He is one of the kindest people I’ve ever met,” deBerge said. “I think the thing that can’t be forgotten, in the 400 wishes that John has granted, is that John realizes the impact of a wish come true. It’s not just a moment for these kids, but it’s something they can look forward and something they can reflect on afterwards.”

Oh and did we mention that Cena granted his 300th wish less than a year before his 400th. That is a testament to the type of person he is.
