WWE Superstars portray characters on-screen and often the WWE Universe confuses their own personality with the one that the stars are playing on-screen, when in-fact many superstars are approachable people.

Total Divas has given fans an insight into the lives of many of the women behind their characters and has shown that there is much more depth to their personality, as well as showing that the men in their lives are just as down to earth as they are.

The media often focuses too much on when a Superstar does something wrong, while they often fail to report when Superstars do wonderful things out of the kindness of their hearts.

Much like footballers and many other athletes, WWE Superstars are contracted to be a part of many public appearances, but many stars choose to approach their fans and help them in ways that they are not supposed to. Often times, they don’t mind doing it because they feel that they are paying back for their dedicated support.

These are the stories that make up the following list. The times when Superstars have gone above and beyond to prove that the character they play on TV is only one side of their personality and deep down they really do have a heart. The times that show, contrary to popular belief, they are just like everyone else and they just want to help where they can.

15 Triple H and The Crying Fan

via independent.co.uk

Back in 2015, John Cena was booked in a handicap match in the main event of an episode of Raw. There's not much unusual there, but this story made headlines after Triple H (who was seated at ringside for the match) noticed a young fan crying at ringside due to his heel work and broke character in order to console him.

Being a father himself, it is easy to see why Triple H would have done such a thing, but the story doesn’t end there, as it was reported later that security escorted the boy and his father backstage after the show so that they could meet the superstars. That’s one way of cheering a little boy up, while making all of his dreams come true.

Eight-year-old Elijah saw all of his dreams come true when he attended an episode of Monday Night Raw in 2015. Elijah had been battling cancer since the age of three and was told that he was in remission, before the disease sadly returned the following year.

Elijah sent in a video for WWE Tough Enough and after WWE officials viewed it, they decided that they had to sign him to a contract. Elijah’s favourite superstar Stardust then escorted Elijah to the ring after Raw went off the air, where he was given the name Drax Shadow and officially signed an honorary WWE contract.

12 Roman Reigns and His Most Dedicated Fan

Roman Reigns is not exactly the most liked superstar in WWE right now, but a woman named Leonora. who claimed to be Roman’s most dedicated fan, couldn't make it to an event to meet the superstar.

Her husband asked Roman to send Leonora a video message, saying that he was devastated by the fact that she wasn’t there and that he wanted to know where she was. Watching the promo, it's more convincing than a lot of his promos on Raw!

11 Dolph Ziggler and Make A Wish

Dolph Ziggler has become one of the top faces in WWE over the past few years, so much so that he was given the opportunity to grant Mikael’s wish as part of the Make-A-Wish foundation back in 2015.

This was Dolph’s first ever Make-A-Wish and he has since gone on to continue to grant wishes, including one during a recent visit to London. Dolph has also been a part of a lot of charity work during his time in WWE, which has also helped him remain a firm fan favourite in WWE despite the direction of his character currently being unclear.

Via pl.wwe.com

Bayley and Izzy have a relationship that has been blossoming down in NXT for some time with the youngster completely infatuated with Bayley.

Izzy is always shown at ringside whenever Bayley approaches the ring for her matches and she even invited Izzy into the ring with her the week after she won the NXT Women’s Championship, so that Izzy could celebrate with her own replica belt. Izzy also played a part in the Sasha Banks vs, Bayley iron women match at NXT Takeover: Respect when Sasha stole her headband and made her cry, but Bayley went over and hugged her after the match.

9 The Rock and Christopher

So I called an audible and went to visit Christopher. Glad we did... While I was visiting the Pediatric Specialty Ward surprising the kids, I got word from my team that there was a mom who was pleading with our production staff, that I go upstairs to her son's room to give him a much needed big surprise. Since he's older he's in the main hospital and not in pediatric care. We were shooting #BAYWATCH scenes outside of the hospital, but instead of heading back to shoot I called the audible, put production on hold and went upstairs to see this young man. I walked in and his smile lit up the room! And I mean lit that room up!;) We talked for a while about his family, his school and how hard he's working to eventually graduate AND we talked about how COOL all his scars are from his multiple surgeries - from his head to his chest - those scars are badges of honor and the reminder of how beyond tough this kid is. Right before I left his mom looked at him and said, "Christopher I can't give you anything, but I'm so happy I could give you this today..." and she started to breakdown, which was captured in this pic. Made me think to give so much credit to these parents who would do anything to take their kid's pain away and ANYTHING to bring a smile to their faces. As a papa bear I understand. Glad this mom brought a smile to Christopher's face. And glad I got a chance to shake the hand of this very strong and inspiring young man. Stay strong Christopher and show them scars with pride. You're the man! ~ DJ

Connor was allowed to step in the ring with the former World Champion during his visit and even pinned him to the mat, which left a lasting impression.

Following his passing in 2014, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon helped to create Connor’s Cure, which is a charity that helps to fund the Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh. Seth Rollins is the ultimate bad boy in WWE right now, but proved that he is a decent human being outside of the ring when he met five-year-old Owen Hunt.

Owen was recovering from open heart surgery when he met Seth Rollins. Rollins allowed Owen to play with his newly won Championship, as well as giving him the opportunity to punch him in the stomach, stating that he was just happy that Owen had a story to tell his friends and his mother for a couple of days.

4 The Rock and Nick Miller

2 John Cena And The 500 Wishes

via wish.org

John Cena is the only wrestler in WWE to have been a part of the company for more than a decade and not have to turn heel. This is mainly because WWE doesn’t want to spoil what John is doing with the Make a Wish foundation (and his merchandise).

This foundation helps children who have been diagnosed with incurable diseases to be able to have their wishes come true and incredibly John Cena is the celebrity that has made the most wishes come true, with over 500 already completed. This proves that whether you love him or hate him on screen, John Cena is an incredible human being.

1 Daniel Bryan and Connor Mahalik

via youtube.com

It is perhaps one of the most emotional stories when it comes to bonds between Superstars and fans, as Daniel Bryan and Connor had a wonderful relationship that helped a difficult situation become a little bit easier.

Connor was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and so WWE decided to make his wish come true and invited him to a WWE event before then inviting him to WrestleMania XXX where he watched his favourite superstar, Daniel Bryan, lift the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Connor passed away days after WrestleMania and Bryan then inducted him into the WWE Hall of Fame the following year. It was a touching tribute to a special little boy.
