It's very common for AEW wrestlers to diss WWE publicly. Sometimes, these people can also get very inventive with their insults. Wrestlers such as Eddie Kingston and CM Punk have called out WWE in their promos and it seems there are no restrictions on them name-calling their competition. That only makes sense because even Tony Khan calls out WWE from time to time.

Unlike others, Khan doesn't show up on television often, and even at times when he does, it's not usually to call out WWE. Instead, he talks about the promotion on podcasts and his decade-old Twitter account, where he tweets almost every day.

7 Tony Khan Can't Wait To Finally Beat SmackDown

Some time ago, WWE announced a "SuperSized" Friday Night SmackDown. Its last 30 minutes were commercial-free and featured superstars such as Brock Lesnar, Becky Lynch, and Sasha Banks. Despite that, AEW Rampage beat SmackDown in one demo and tied in others.

A few days before the shows went head-to-head, Tony Khan tweeted and said that he couldn't wait to beat SmackDown in the ratings. The overnight data first made it seem like Rampage had lost but those reports turned out to be untrue. Khan was very happy about beating one of WWE's main-show in key demos.

6 Tony Khan Says He Puts On A Better Show Than WWE

TheRealSnowden (combat sportswriter and author) tweeted and asked fans if people were mad when Eric Bischoff challenged Vince McMahon to fight on television back in the '90s. Those who don't know Bischoff challenged McMahon to a shoot fight at Slamboree 1998, but he didn't show up.

Tony Khan himself replied to this tweet and confirmed that Bischoff did receive a lot of hate for this. And then he went on to say while he won't take things this far (as he thinks he can't physically best Vince), but he does think that AEW produces a better show than WWE does. He just wants everyone to know about it.

5 Tony Khan "Leaks" A Story

AEW fans were initially disappointed, thinking that Rampage had lost to SmackDown as the overnight data showed its viewership was way less than WWE's show.

Sports business analyst Darren Rovell shared a tweet about SmackDown's victory over Rampage, but then, Tony Khan "leaked" a story to him which revealed that his show beat WWE's show in the key demo. In the same tweet, he called out WWE who "aggressively extended their Friday show 30 minutes" to go head-to-head with Rampage.

4 "There’s Only Room For One Khan In The Wrestling Business"

Some months ago, WWE (led by Nick Khan) tried to have an exclusive partnership with New Japan Pro Wrestling as part of their pitch to convince Daniel Bryan to stay with the company. While WWE couldn't create a working relationship with NJPW, AEW on the other hand, had several New Japan wrestlers on their shows.

This tweet didn't come directly from Tony Khan's account, but AEW once posted a promo of him where he hit out at Nick Khan for getting absolutely nothing done with his talks with New Japan. Tony even said that "there’s only room for one Khan in the wrestling business"; him. And "not some con-man from Connecticut."

3 Tony Khan Mocks WWE For Saudi Arabia Deal

As fans probably know, CM Punk used to work as an analyst on WWE Backstage at one point. He hadn't stayed up-to-date with the sport since leaving it so he had to catch up on years worth of wrestling in a short time. Punk tweeted about this once and said that he's going to talk about everything and that no one is safe.

Tony Khan saw the opportunity and replied: "No one is safe? Sounds like a plane full of wrestlers in Saudi Arabia!" Needless to say, WWE fans were hurt seeing this reply.

2 Tony Khan Celebrates AEW's Success

On AEW Dynamite's premiere on TNT, the show received a viewership of 1.4 million. The same night, NXT made its second-hour debut on the USA Network. WWE released a statement and congratulated AEW on Dynamite's premiere and also reminded them that crossing the million mark on its premiere won't be enough as it's a marathon and not a one-night sprint.

Since then, AEW beat NXT several times until it switched to a different night. Almost two years since WWE's tweet, Tony Khan mentioned their statement in one of his posts and confirmed it's true. He also said that while WWE had a head-start for 40+ years in the business, AEW achieved more than anyone in history in less than two years.

Last year, AEW Dynamite got its best rating in the key demo (0.42) on the Dynamite: Winter Is Coming edition of the show. As always, Tony Khan thanked the fans on Twitter who tuned in to watch his show.

Khan considered that Dynamite a huge success for AEW. And among other things, it also beat NXT once again that night. Sting's arrival in AEW helped the promotion a lot, considering that the very next week they broke their key demo record again.
