WWE fans have been hoping Owen Hart's legacy would have more of a presence in the company than it has done since he passed away more than 20 years ago. The late wrestler isn't even in the Hall of Fame, but it isn't because WWE hasn't gotten around to inducting him yet. Owen's widow Martha blames WWE for her husband's death and won't allow the company to make money from his name, which extends to a potential HoF induction.

Owen Hart In AEW

Although AEW wasn't even a thought in anyone's head at the height of Owen's career, Martha and The Owen Hart Foundation, a charity she started in her husband's name, have teamed up so his legacy can live on in the business. AEW announced the partnership last year along with the reveal that two tournaments, one for male wrestlers and one for female wrestlers, named after Owen will take place in 2022 and once a year after that.

A number of other details were revealed, including a sneak peek at an all-new theme for Owen in AEW. That track has now been finished by composer Mikey Rukus. The track is called Legacy and you can listen to it right now on AEW's bandcamp page and even download it for free. It's pretty plain to hear the song has been inspired by Owen's WWE theme from the mid-'90s, a must if it was at all possible so that it conjures up feelings of nostalgia when fans hear it on AEW TV for the first time.

The Owen Hart Cups

Qualification for the Owen Hart tournaments is already underway. Samoa Joe, Hikaru Shida, and Toni Storm have all already confirmed their spots in the tournaments proper. The action will really ramp up throughout May as the two finals are slated to take place at Double Or Nothing at the end of the month. Martha will be at the show to present the cups to the two winners at the PPV.

The partnership with AEW extends to merchandise too. Owen Hart t-shirts are currently available, and there has also been talk of Owen being playable in the upcoming AEW game. The latest on that project points to a September release date, but there has been no official confirmation from AEW regarding when exactly its first major game will be available.
