Throughout the history of WrestleMania, WWE attempts to get as many talents as possible on the biggest PPV of the year. Therefore, there has been a plethora of multi-person matches with some matches randomly being thrown together at the final hour with some talent having no meaningful storyline going into the Show of Shows. However, there have been some instances, where a one-on-one match was set in stone, and more talented were added to a match which made no sense.

The likes of Triple H, Shawn Michaels, and Chris Benoit at WrestleMania 20, and Randy Orton, Daniel Bryan, and Batista's triple threat match at WrestleMania 30 were amongst the greatest in the history of WrestleMania. Unfortunately, some multi-person matches at WrestleMania felt rushed, and if the matches were one-on-one bouts, they could have been better.

10 Billy Gunn Vs. Hardcore Holly Vs. Al Snow - WrestleMania 15

Bob Holly v Al Snow In Your House St Valentine's Day Massacre 1999 Cropped

The WWE Hardcore Championship was defended at WrestleMania 15 in a triple threat match. It was the first time that the Hardcore Title was at stake on the Grandest Stage of Them All. Billy Gunn was the reigning Hardcore Champion, and Hardcore Holly and Al Snow were his challengers.

This was an awful opener to a lackluster WrestleMania card. Billy Gunn looked out of place in this type of environment. Moreover, Holly and Snow had a war of attrition at St. Valentine's Day Massacre which spilled into the Mississippi River. They should have had a one-on-one match, but it was a triple threat bout with Holly emerging victorious.

9 Cruiserweight Open - WrestleMania 20

Chavo Guerrero v Rey Mysterio No Way Out 2004 Cropped

At WrestleMania 20, Chavo Guerrero put his Cruiserweight Championship on the line in a Cruiserweight Open. Chavo beat Rey Mysterio for the Cruiserweight Title at No Way Out 2004. Nevertheless, the Cruiserweight Open felt rushed, and Chavo had the privilege of entering last as the reigning Cruiserweight Champion.

As expected, Chavo and Mysterio were the final two participants slugging it out for the title. It made perfect sense for Chavo and Mysterio to have a marquee rematch on the Grandest Stage of Them All. To make matters worse, Ultimo Dragon botched his entrance on his way down the aisle. Nonetheless, Chavo kept a stranglehold of his Cruiserweight Title with a helping hand from his father, Chavo Classic.

8 Six-Pack Challenge - WrestleMania 33

Alexa Bliss v Naomi Bliss WrestleMania 33 Cropped

The SmackDown Women's Championship was up for grabs for the first time at WrestleMania. Alexa Bliss had a stern test in her title defense with five hungry challengers in Naomi, Becky Lynch, Carmella, Mickie James, and Natalya in a six-pack challenge at WrestleMania 33.

Unfortunately, the six women were unfortunate to be sandwiched between the Universal Championship match, and Roman Reigns and The Undertaker's main event. The women-only got four minutes to work with, and it was a poor match. Moreover, since WrestleMania 33 emanated in Naomi's hometown of Orlando, Florida, it was a no-brainer for Naomi to face the Goddess in a one-on-one match. Nevertheless, Naomi regained the SmackDown Women's Championship at Bliss' expense.

7 Randy Orton Vs. Rusev Vs. Bobby Roode Vs. Jinder Mahal - WrestleMania 34

Randy Orton v Rusev WrestleMania 34 Cropped

Randy Orton won the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 33, and a year later, he walked in as the United States Champion. Orton featured in a fatal-4-way match with Rusev, Bobby Roode, and fellow former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal as his challengers.

The match failed to click, and it was a poor quality United States Championship match. The Viper and Rusev should have faced off one-on-one. Rusev Day was over, and it was logical for Rusev to continue his momentum with the United States Championship. Instead, Rusev took the fall, and Mahal pinned him to capture the US Title, which no one wanted to see.

6 Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match - WrestleMania 32

Kevin Owens v Sami Zayn WrestleMania 32 Cropped

The seven-man ladder match for Kevin Owens' Intercontinental Championship match at WrestleMania 32 was outstanding. There were some brutal bumps, and the action was fast-paced. However, the match was centered around Owens and Sami Zayn.

Owens and Zayn have torn the house down on several occasions with memorable encounters. They were capable of having a one-on-one match which would have been great to watch. Instead, Zack Ryder emerged victorious which was surprising, and his title reign only lasted one day with The Miz clinching the Intercontinental Championship on Raw.

5 Edge Vs. John Cena Vs. Big Show - WrestleMania 25

Edge v Cena v Big Show WrestleMania 25 Cropped

It's hard to believe that Edge and John Cena never faced off in a one-on-one match at WrestleMania. The World Heavyweight Championship was on the line at WrestleMania 25, and it was the perfect time for Edge and Cena to face off in another marquee match. The Rated-R Superstar defended the Big Gold Belt with Cena and Big Show as his challengers in a triple threat match.

The World's Largest Athlete's involvement was illogical, and the match would have been miles better without Show in the bout. However, the Rated-R Superstar fell victim to Cena once again, who became a two-time World Heavyweight Champion in his fifth consecutive World Title match at WrestleMania.

4 Jazz Vs. Trish Stratus Vs. Lita - WrestleMania 18

Trish Stratus v Lita WrestleMania 18 Cropped

Trish Stratus and Lita made their in-ring WrestleMania debuts at WrestleMania 18. They challenged Jazz for the WWE Women's Championship in a triple threat match. Unfortunately, injuries have plagued Lita throughout her career which is why she has only wrestled at WrestleMania once.

Unquestionably, Trish and Lita were the biggest female stars in the Attitude Era. They would have clashed in a Women's Championship match at WrestleMania 21 had Lita not sustained a serious injury. Nonetheless, their Women's Title match was short and sweet with Jazz retaining the Women's Title.

3 Roman Reigns Vs. Edge Vs. Daniel Bryan - WrestleMania 37

Roman Reigns v Edge WrestleMania 37 Cropped

At WrestleMania 37, Roman Reigns put the Universal Championship on the line in the main event against Edge and Daniel Bryan in a triple threat match. The Tribal Chief was the main top star in WWE, and he showed everybody why with a memorable performance on The Grandest Stage of Them All.

Edge won the 2021 Men's Royal Rumble match, but Bryan found a way to get himself involved in the title picture. Reigns and Edge did go on to have their singles match at Money in the Bank in the summer, but Edge deserved to have a one-on-one Universal Title match without Bryan.

2 Ronda Rousey Vs. Becky Lynch Vs. Charlotte Flair - WrestleMania 35

Ronda Rousey v Becky Lynch WrestleMania 35 Cropped

Fans were robbed from seeing Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch compete in a high-profile champion versus champion match at Survivor Series 2018 with Nia Jax injuring Lynch. However, it seemed that fans were finally going to witness Ronda and Becky headline WrestleMania 35 for the Raw Women's Championship. Instead, Charlotte Flair was added to the match to make it a triple threat match in the first women's WrestleMania main event.

The match was decent, but the Queen didn't need to be involved. She could have defended the SmackDown Women's Championship against another female wrestler on the SmackDown roster. Ultimately, the Man looked strong in victory, but it remains to be seen if Lynch and Rousey fight down the line.

1 Triple H Vs. The Rock Vs. Big Show Vs. Mick Foley - WrestleMania 16

The Rock v Triple H WrestleMania 16

The main event of WrestleMania 16 was bloated and convoluted. Triple H defended the WWE Championship in a fatal-4-way match against The Rock, Big Show, and Mick Foley. However, the match was all about the McMahons as a member of the McMahon family was in each participant's corner.

Triple H and The Rock were the top stars in Steve Austin and Undertaker's absences. They could have knocked it out of the park in an enthralling one-on-one match. This could have been a memorable night in Rock's career, but Triple H prevailed and became the first heel to walk in and walk out with the WWE Championship in a poorly constructed fatal-4-way match.
