The wrestling business is definitely one where you never say never. Considering that WWE is the most lucrative wrestling promotion in the world, it is hardly surprising to see wrestlers returning to the company after stints elsewhere. The likes of Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre are glowing examples.

In some cases, like The Shield, WWE fans might never see them together again, as the former Dean Ambrose, now Jon Moxley, has a comfortable spot in the AEW locker room. But you never know. Over the years, there have been a number of WWE reunions that fans weren't expecting, but were glad they happened.

7 John Morrison And The Miz

John Morrison and The Miz-SmackDown Tag Team Champions

John Morrison and The Miz dominated the WWE tag team division from 2007-09, winning the Tag Team Championship twice before going their separate ways. The Miz would have greater singles success, capturing the WWE Championship in 2010, whereas Morrison had to be content with winning yet another Intercontinental Championship before his departure from the company a year later.

While Morrison won world titles in TNA and Lucha Underground, The Miz became an indispensable mid-card star in WWE. The duo remained close in their personal lives, attending each other's weddings, but it seemed unlikely that they would reunite in WWE, considering Morrison's affinity towards competing on the independents in order to have more control over his character.

However, it all changed in 2020, on an episode of SmackDown, when Morrison was shown exiting The Miz's locker room. Having left TNA at the end of his contract, JoMo was paired up with The Miz once again, and the duo went on to win SmackDown Tag Team Championship.

6 Rikishi And Too Cool

Rikishi and Too Cool-Old School Raw

Rikishi and Too Cool, made up of Scotty 2 Hotty, Grand Master Sexay, were great entertainers as part of the Attitude Era. Hotty and Sexay even captured the WWE Tag Team Championship at a time when the division was stacked with the likes of Edge and Christian, The Hardy Boyz, and The Dudley Boyz. However, by the mid-2000s, the stable was no more.

All three were released from WWE and they seemed to go on different paths. Sexay announced his retirement in 2009, Rikishi became inactive, and Scotty took up a new career as a firefighter in 2013. However, the three returned on Old School Raw in 2014, defeating 3MB. They were even featured as the surprise challengers for the Ascension's NXT Tag Team Championship titles the same year.

5 The Rockers

The-Rockers-Raw-Reunion

While Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty never officially captured the WWE Tag Team Championship, as The Rockers, the duo were fan favorites during the nineties. Vince McMahon considered Jannetty to be an unreliable performer due to his many personal problems and when Michaels retired from wrestling in 1998, it seemed unlikely that The Rockers would return to the WWE.

However, HBK came out of retirement in 2002, and three years later, was set to battle Kurt Angle at WrestleMania 21. As part of the build to the match, Jannetty was rehired for a week to promote the feud. Jannetty even teamed with Michaels to defeat La Resistance before losing to Angle in a singles match. His performance was so appreciated that the lesser-known Rocker was signed to a new contract.

However, Jannetty's personal problems resurfaced and he never had a sustained run in the company after that. Jannetty came to Michael's aid against The Spirit Squad and Mr. Kennedy on separate occasions, but The Rockers never reunited in a wrestling match except for that one night in 2005.

4 Jeff Jarrett And Road Dogg

Jeff Jarrett and Road Dogg-WWE Hall of Fame

Road Dogg debuted in WWE back in 1994, as the lackey of Jeff Jarrett, who was one of the biggest heels in the company. They were booked to eventually feud, but the duo walked out of the company in 1995 over a pay dispute. While Road Dogg returned to WWE a year later and went on to reach new heights as one-half of The New Age Outlaws, it appeared that Jarrett had burned too many bridges with the company to return.

It took 16 more years, but Jarrett was finally welcomed back to the company in 2018. Road Dogg was there to induct him into the Hall of Fame, and the duo even reunited on Raw when they started a mini-feud with Elias, receiving a nice pop from the crowd.

3 Trish Stratus And Lita

Trish Stratus and Lita-WWE Evolution

It took a long time for WWE to fill the gap left behind by the departures of Trish Stratus and Lita from the Women's division within a month of each other in 2006. While Trish and Lita were more famous for being rivals due to the fact that the Women's roster was never deep enough to have them on the same side, they teamed together on occasion as well.

The last time that they tagged with each other was at the first all-women's pay-per-view, WWE Evolution. It was a surprise to the fans that the duo would agree to return 12 years after retirement. Lita wasn't originally supposed to team with Trish, but when the proposed match between Stratus and Alexa Bliss fell through, WWE came up with an even better idea to have the legends open the pay-per-view as a tag team. They got a great ovation and picked up the victory over Mickie James and Alicia Fox to start the event in the best possible way.

2 Edge And ChristianEdge and Christian-Royal Rumble 2021

Edge and Christian were considered to be retired for the better part of the 2010s, with the former officially hanging up his boots as World Champion in 2011, whereas Christian remained inactive since 2014 due to concussion issues.

All that changed when Edge made a surprise in-ring return during the 2020 Royal Rumble match. There were rumblings regarding a possible reunion with Christian, but WWE seemed to be moving in a different direction with an Edge vs. Randy Orton program. Christian was inserted into that feud, but when he was destroyed by Orton without even throwing a punch, it seemed that Captain Charisma was just going to be added as a prop to enhance the angle.

During the following year's Rumble match, Christian made an unannounced return and had a great performance. He would have that long-awaited in-ring reunion with Edge as the duo worked together against the likes of Seth Rollins. Christian would last till the final four, whereas Edge would win the whole thing

1 The Rock 'N' Sock Connection

The Rock 'n' Sock Connection-WrestleMania XX

Mick Foley and The Rock won the WWE Tag Team Championship three times as The Rock 'n' Sock Connection. The duo had incredible chemistry and produced some of the best-rated segments on TV. However, by 2004, Foley had somewhat retired and The Rock had transitioned to Hollywood.

Therefore, it came as a surprise when The Rock 'n' Sock Connection were advertised to team up at WrestleMania 20 that year to take on Evolution. The event saw The Rock play second fiddle to Foley, who was involved in an angle with an up-and-coming Randy Orton. They couldn't quite recapture their old form but did a great job putting over Orton and Batista with The Legend Killer getting his first WrestleMania moment with an RKO to Foley that resulted in a clean win for the heels.
