Total Divas was a huge project for WWE getting the women’s division their own reality series on the E! Network. Many of the top female stars in the company have been featured on the show with cameras following around their everyday lives. The series scored enough viewers to make the show a long enough success to run for at least nine seasons as of now.

We will look at the wrestlers to both benefit and flop from having extra time on Total Divas. The positive stories feature the women that became bigger stars in WWE partially thanks to their spotlight with the reality series. Others had a worse result by not living up to the expectations set on the show. Find out what caused the best and worst stories. The following wrestlers either became bigger stars or flopped after having time on the Total Divas reality show.

10 Bigger star: Natalya

Natalya’s career was struggling in WWE until becoming part of the Total Divas cast. The presence of Natalya and her family added a fun dynamic to the series. WWE fans were able to see legend Jim Neidhart’s home life with his wife, Natalya, and their other daughter.

The career of Natalya started to progress with more opportunities offered on WWE television. Management started to trust Natalya more as a leader of the women’s division. WWE still trusts her to have programs with new talents in recent memory like Charlotte Flair and Lacey Evans.

9 Flop: Cameron

cameron

WWE had high hopes for Cameron when making her part of the first season of Total Divas. The new diva received a huge opportunity since WWE saw superstar potential in her. Cameron was part of the Funkadactyls tag team with Naomi as part of Brodus Clay’s dance team.

The in-ring skills of Cameron never progressed enough to trust her in the ring. Cameron couldn’t gain a consistent role on television and was eventually sent down to NXT. The story here showed that Total Divas couldn’t magically fix one’s weaknesses.

8 Bigger star: Paige

WWE added Paige to the second season of Total Divas. Paige was already a rising star after winning the Divas Championship on her night on the main roster by defeating AJ Lee. The run helped establish Paige as a top name in the division.

Total Divas introduced Paige to a new audience of the reality show viewers, and it added more to her career. Paige has one of the strongest fan bases in WWE even after having to retire a few years ago. Not everyone enjoys being on a reality show, but Paige certainly enjoyed it.

7 Flop: Alicia Fox

The longevity made Alicia Fox an interesting name to place on Total Divas. Fans saw the real-life close friendship between Fox, Paige and Rosa Mendes evolve on the reality show. Fox couldn’t break out enough to land a noteworthy push on WWE television.

Most of the biggest moments of Fox’s career came in the background when joining the Bella Twins faction or a group with Mickie James and Alexa Bliss. Total Divas couldn’t change things too much for Fox’s career since she wasn’t a high priority.

6 Bigger star: Renee Young

WWE and WWE fans started to realize Renee Young was more than just a backstage interviewer around the time of her Total Divas inclusion. Young’s natural charisma and charm allowed her to get more opportunities hosting shows like Talking Smack and now WWE Backstage on Fox Sports.

The appearances on Total Divas showed more of Young’s personality, especially regarding her real-life relationship with Dean Ambrose aka Jon Moxley. Renee is arguably WWE’s best broadcaster in decades that must be utilized.

5 Flop: Rosa Mendes

Rosa-Mendes

Rosa Mendes could not find an ideal role in WWE after various attempts. The in-ring skills lacked compared to the other ladies on the main roster at the time. Mendes managed a few wrestlers like Primo, Epico, and Fandango to little success.

WWE even tried her out at a broadcaster. Rosa felt like a solid addition to the Total Divas cast, but it did nothing to help her wrestling career. WWE eventually removed Mendes from the show when realizing they were going to release her.

4 Bigger star: The Bella Twins

WWE re-signed Nikki and Brie Bella after a short stint away from the company for the Total Divas show. Their real-life relationships with top stars John Cena and Daniel Bryan made them the perfect fit to have the lead storylines, especially with the fun mainstream dynamic of twin sisters.

Both ladies saw their careers skyrocket after fans got to witness how uniquely different their personalities were. Nikki became a top heel in WWE with the record-breaking Divas Championship reign. The face turn of Brie allowed her to have the biggest match of her career against Stephanie McMahon at Summerslam 2014. WWE inducting the Bella Twins into the 2020 Hall of Fame shows their success.

3 Flop: Jojo

Jojo was one of the first Total Divas cast members as a young talent just starting her career. WWE struggled to find the right role for her since she couldn’t pick up the in-ring aspect of the game. Jojo eventually moved into one of the lead ring announcer positions.

The entire WWE career of Jojo saw her as a ring announcer. WWE didn’t feel that was interesting enough and removed her from the cast. Jojo’s real-life relationship with Bray Wyatt in future year could have added some appeal, but she was already off the show.

2 Bigger star: Naomi

Naomi was trying to find her ideal role in WWE when getting the chance to join the Total Divas cast. The dancing background of Naomi saw her join Cameron as the Funkadactyls appearing with Brodus Clay before their matches.

WWE eventually split them up with Naomi getting a bigger push thanks to her in-ring skills. Total Divas started to showcase her more when the team ended. Naomi’s relationship with Jimmy Uso became a breakout hit on the show as viewers enjoyed her genuinely likable personality.

1 Flop: Eva Marie

Eva Marie was expected to become a major superstar when joining the first Total Divas season. The look of Eva won over WWE, and they wanted her to become a face of the company. They made a huge mistake having her skip NXT to join the main roster without experience for the Total Divas story.

WWE eventually sent Eva back down to NXT to improve on her in-ring and character work each. Unfortunately, it never panned out, and her career always felt like a huge missed opportunity. WWE eventually gave up on Eva after violating the wellness policy.
