Those hoping for Daniel Bryan not just to wrestle again, but to wrestle as part of the WWE roster, might once again want to keep their expectations reasonable. A new interview with Triple H suggests that WWE still has no plans to clear Bryan to return to competition, and that the occasional wrestler/real-life company executive is still as confident as ever in WWE’s medical team and its previous advice that Bryan’s abbreviated wrestling career is over as we know it, due to his concussion issues.

Triple H recently appeared at the Television Critics Association winter press tour to promote Monday Night Raw’s upcoming 25th anniversary special. With WrestleMania 34 also fast approaching, “The Game” was asked about the possibility that Bryan, who is closing in on his second year as an officially retired competitor, may be wrestling at the Show of Shows and making his much-awaited comeback while he remains under contract to the WWE.

Unfortunately for those looking forward to a Bryan comeback, Triple H’s words said it all — he told reporters that “there can be no exception, medically,” when it comes to allowing someone to wrestle despite WWE’s doctors refusing to clear them to perform. He added that he “[doesn’t] know why” Bryan would ever be allowed to wrestle again unless there is contradictory proof, presumably from WWE’s doctors, that he’s fit to step into the ring once again.

Triple H went on to put over the WWE medical team as one which he can “put up against any” other medical team out there, before returning to the topic of a potential Daniel Bryan in-ring return. He said that while it’s going to be up to the company’s medical professionals to determine whether he can compete or not, he personally believes that the person should come before the wrestler, much as he would want Bryan to wrestle again due to his passion for the business.

“I know it’s something he loved doing and I hope he has that opportunity,” said Triple H. “But at the same point in time, he’s married and has a child. We serve the human being first.”

In as much as we’d love to see Daniel Bryan wrestle again, especially if it’s in a WWE ring, we do understand where Triple H is coming from. WWE’s doctors will, at the end of the day, be the only ones who can clear Bryan to perform, and while it would be nice if they’d do before WrestleMania (or even after), we have to remember that this is a company that is doing what it could to take concussions and their potential dangers more seriously.
