During a recent interview, Triple H was asked about the possibility of CM Punk returning to WWE. His answer was a bit surprising, especially when you consider the source from where he was getting his response.

While speaking to the Ariel Helwani Show, Triple H was asked about CM Punk and a possible return to WWE. The question seemed quite relevant considering how much Punk has been in the news of late and the buzz he's created by saying he's absolutely open to return to wrestling.

Punk recently said during an interview that people misunderstood his take on the wrestling business since leaving WWE. It's not that he doesn't want to or would be willing to come back, he just doesn't really expect it to happen. No wrestling promotion has officially offered him anything and if they have, it wasn't a serious offer.

But, Triple H's response to whether or not Punk would be welcomed back suggests WWE is, at the very least, thinking about the idea. Triple H replied that Vince McMahon said they’re “open for business.”

Whether those comments were directly specifically at Punk or Triple H was just quoting a common phrase Vince likes to use wasn't entirely clear but he explained, "That’s a ‘could be’. Vince will say it all the time: ‘We’re open for business’. The past is passed, today is today and you never say never in WWE."

Why Aren't These Two Sides Working To Get Something Done?

If Punk is telling the truth and WWE hasn't officially come to him and talked return, all we can wonder is 'Why?' It seems both sides are open to working something out, and while Punk has said he's not likely wrestle, there are number of things he could do within WWE and just his return alone would be huge news for the company.

Or, perhaps the phrase "open for business" means WWE is waiting for Punk to make the first move towards reconciling. If so, a return could take a while because that doesn't seem like something Punk seems eager to do.
