10 NXT invasion

The recent storyline of NXT invading Raw and Smackdown ahead of the Survivor Series 2019 showdown featured the friendship of Triple H and Shawn Michaels still playing a strong role. Triple H is the person running NXT while Michaels is a top coach connected to the brand.

Both legends had fun backstage interacting with others while proudly representing the NXT brand. It helped the storyline to have two legendary best friends showing up together as part of the NXT takeover. Casual fans just enjoyed seeing Triple H and Michaels together again.

9 Triple H winning the European Championship from Shawn

Sgt. Slaughter believed he finally found a way to make life miserable for D-Generation X when they started taking control for WWE. The Christmas edition of Raw would see WWE Champion Shawn Michaels defending his European Championship against Triple H.

Instead of fighting each other like Slaughter expected, Michaels laid down as Triple H ran around the ring before pinning him. The WWE Championship reign of Michaels meant that he didn’t mind losing a secondary title to Triple H given the nature of their friendship.

8 DX Hall of Fame induction

The Hall of Fame induction is always an emotional moment for wrestlers and wrestling fans. Shawn Michaels had his second induction along with Triple H’s first when both men joined X-Pac, the New Age Outlaws and Chyna as the members of D-Generation X inducted.

Triple H and Michaels had quite a bit of fun about the achievement. The others had more emotions since it was likely their only HOF induction. However, jokes were cracked by the two bigger names just looking to enjoy the night.

7 DX reforming in 2006

Fans had no expectations of seeing D-Generation X back in the early 2000s when Shawn Michaels returned as a face and Triple H was the top heel in the company. Both men doing crotch chops in their respective singles matches at WrestleMania 22 made fans realize it was possible.

The ultimate goal for any pair of best friends in wrestling would often be to win the tag titles together. Shawn Michaels and Triple H would make their first claim to tag team dominance in the late 2000s during one of their final reunions.

A feud with Chris Jericho and Big Show would see the four star-studded legends going at it in a TLC match. Triple H and Michaels scored the big win to take home the titles. The accomplishment would see them add another one of many titles to their resume.

5 Shawn Michaels superkicking Sting

WrestleMania 31 would see Triple H having a dream match against Sting having his first WWE match. The surprise appearances of D-Generation X and the New World Order had the live crowd reacting with joy to all the twists and turns.

Shawn Michaels made a surprise appearance as well hitting Sting with a superkick. The friendship of Michaels and Triple H helped play a huge role in Triple H overcoming Sting to win the match. Fans also got to see a small taste of Michaels interacting Sting as that was another dream match we sadly never would get to witness.

4 Mocking the McMahon family

Any friends that work together will likely want to make fun of their bosses at some point. Triple H and Shawn Michaels got to live the dream when entering a feud with Vince and Shane McMahon. One of the most memorable segments of the 2006 DX reunion saw them mocking the McMahon family with a great parody.

Triple H impersonated Vince while Michaels made fun of Shane. The two friends even performed a dance number in the ring mocking Vince’s 1980s musical performance of “Stand Back” during the Slammy Awards.

3 Shawn Michaels costing The Rock the WWE Championship

The role of Shawn Michaels as the special guest referee would see him play a huge role in Triple H and The Rock having the first-ever Smackdown main event. Michaels played a face entering the match which made fans assume he’d call it down the middle.

The Rock learned that was not the case the hard way when going for the People’s Elbow. Michaels delivered the Sweet Chin Music superkick out of nowhere allowing Triple H to get the pin and retain the WWE Championship. The friendship convinced Michaels to stab Rock in the back in an entertaining fashion.

2 Triple H inducting Shawn Michaels into WWE Hall of Fame

The 2011 Hall of Fame was headlined by Shawn Michaels just one year after he retired from the ring. Michaels received a tremendous celebration during the induction with his best friend Triple H being the easy choice as the person to induct him.

Triple H delivered a tremendous speech discussing all the great things accomplished by Michaels with some jokes sprinkled in between the silliness. Michaels seems like a likely choice to eventually induct Triple H into the Hall of Fame one day to return the favor.

1 Superkick/Pedigree combination at WrestleMania 28 vs Undertaker

The coolest moment in the friendship between Shawn Michaels and Triple H came at WrestleMania 28. Triple H tried to end The Undertaker’s undefeated WrestleMania streak inside of the Hell in a Cell structure with a retired Michaels as the guest referee.

Fans believed the streak was ending when Michaels hit Undertaker with a superkick followed up by Triple H delivering the Pedigree. The move combination and Undertaker kicking received a massive pop. This was the first time Michaels and Triple H hit this combination as the ultimate friendship goals in the ring.
