Kevin Owens has certainly showed out in his short time in the WWE. Exploding onto the NXT scene with a flurry of barrel rolls and back flips, Owens is certainly a fan favorite even though he is portrayed as a heel. His real name is Kevin Steen, and he has spent fifteen years on the independent circuit. He did an interview, strangely, for the Montreal Canadiens website, a NHL team. He was asked about his big break in joining the WWE, and mentioned that he had heard it came down to Triple H. If it was not for that decision, fans would have missed out on some of the greatest matches of the year thanks to Kevin Owens.
Triple H has always made it vocal that he is a big fan of Kevin Owens. “He helps me as much as he can for shows,” said Owens, “but we both have young kids at home and we talk about a lot of other things that have nothing to do with wrestling. The fact that he’s in my corner is what counts.” Owens said there was a voting tie in hiring him, and Triple H ended up becoming the deciding factor. “The vote was tied at two, and Triple H cast the deciding ballot. He gave me my chance. I appreciated that he was willing to risk signing me even though I’m not the typical WWE wrestler.” I think every WWE fan can agree we should all be thanking Triple H for this decision.
