WWE has revealed that Tyson Fury will return to WWE TV sooner than we expected, and it might be to challenge a certain someone to a WrestleMania showdown.

If you had asked us which non-wrestlers would be stepping into WWE this time six months ago, Cain Velasquez might well have been near the top of that list. Not only is there a revolving door between WWE and UFC, but Velasquez had already wrestled a few matches before he stepped foot in the squared circle last month.

However, we would not have said Tyson Fury. Although boxers have ventured into WWE from time to time, we were completely unaware Fury had any interest. Nevertheless, just last week, Fury competed in and won his first-ever match in WWE. A count-out win over Braun Strowman at Crown Jewel. We assumed Fury would now head back to the boxing world, but maybe not.

Fury was a guest on this week's After The Bell and told Corey Graves that he wants a match at WrestleMania 36. Not any old match, but a showdown with WWE Champion Brock Lesnar. Was Fury not watching what The Beast did to Velasquez at Crown Jewel? Plus, should he not now shift his focus back to boxing? He's supposed to be fighting Deontay Wilder in 2020.

Fury's comments might be a little more than just talk too. Since appearing on After The Bell, WWE has revealed that the boxer will return to WWE TV this Friday on SmackDown. If Fury is coming for Lesnar, someone should probably tell him the champ has quit Team Blue and is now on Raw. The defeated Strowman, on the other hand, remains on Friday nights and will be waiting with bated breath for Fury.

Fury did say before his match at Crown Jewel that one of the reasons he has turned to wrestling was for something to do during October and November. Perhaps he will be sticking around for another few weeks at least and may pop back for another marquee match at WrestleMania. That last one likely depends on when that Wilder rematch ends up going down.
